  1. It would be hard to pass on Kjerstad, but that Yankees package has more theoretical upside. Really tough call.
  2. Sounds like Imanaga will need to pick a team by today in order to have a deal finalized by Thursday. Haven’t seen the Cubs linked before, but even better for us if he ends up there.
  3. Seems like it might be, but damn would that be amazing. Lombard is a slightly more realistic third piece although that could be pushing it as well.
  4. Were the playoffs truncated in 2020 or something? If not, it doesn’t matter because the Dodgers are automatically rewarded a playoff spot each year and it just so happens that is the year they won it.
  5. Would they really let him hold up a Cease deal? I get the ceiling is through the roof, but the bust potential is massive and they already have a completely full OF of impact talent if they can retain Soto long-term.
  6. My thoughts exactly, but what would you consider a strong offer from the Orioles?
  7. Wow…tons of good stuff in there. Definitely feels like the Yankees would need to offer Jones, Hampton, & one other decent piece (plus maybe a lottery ticket). I’d be very curious what Getz would be targeting in the Orioles system if he can get a better return than that. I get that Spencer Jones is about as high variance as prospects come, but I’d take him over anyone in the Orioles system not in their top 5. The Orioles don’t have a pitching prospect as good as Hampton if that is super important and I’d probably take him over anyone not in their top five. Realistically, I don’t see the O’s doing more than one of Kjerstad / Cowser, one of Ortiz / Norby, and a non-Hall pitching prospect. Is that actually better than what the Yankees could offer if they included a decent 3rd prospect? The best part of that article and the one thing we know to be factually true is that Cashman has his lieutenants are down in Tampa right now to discuss how to augment their pitching staff. And it seem readily apparent that they don’t want to be left empty handed when it comes to adding a top-end starter before the season. This should hopefully create a sense of urgency, especially if they don’t feel Snell or Montgomery will work for them, to push for Cease resolution in the next couple of weeks.
  8. 80% of franchises couldn’t get Jim Harbaugh…we could though and just for money that we have readily available. We just don’t care that much about winning. Same applies to the Bulls who wouldn’t go into the luxury tax despite raking in an insane same amount of money. The Reinsdorf lack any form of killer instinct that owners of other large market / premier franchises possess.
  9. Unfortunately Chicago sports are all owned by a bunch of losers who are content with the status quo except when it involves partnering up with their 80 year old drinking buddies
  10. Did he screw up or is he just a hateful homophobe? I’m all for giving people second chances in life, but to say what he said in that situation highly suggests the latter and there are simply too many quality broadcasters out there to give this opportunity to a guy with this much baggage.
  11. At that point just sign Bauer and Urias and go full heal
  12. Jim Bowden hypothetical trade! Dylan Cease to BOS for Marcelo Mayer, Wikelman Gonzalez, Jarren Duran ?
  13. Is there a rumor supporting this because it would generally be the most shocking hire ever?
  14. I don’t know how you could pass up on four 1sts and three 2nds if one of them is the 1.03 and you can still land MHJ. Even if you’re not 100% certain about Fields, you’d have so much future draft capital that you find a QB in other ways. I just don’t think there any chance you are getting that much to move up two spots.
  15. For four 1st round picks and three 2nds? Is that the trade?
  16. It’s literally like a 1/$19M deal on a PV basis…easily doable for us, but Teoscar wouldn’t have accepted this from us even if offered.
  17. Imanaga to the Giants, Snell to the Angels, & Montgomery resigning with Texas is probably the best case outcome for us
  18. To move up two spots? Seems like an insane amount of draft capital.
  19. I don’t see the Mets trading for Cease given how they’ve approached this off-season and Stearns’ general track record in MIL, but there are some nice potential packages there. I still think the Dodgers could be a sleeper here. I know many of us aren’t enamored with their prospects, but it’s clear they are going all-in on next year and a durable starter like Cease (with TOR upside) would make all the sense in the world for them. I’d definitely prefer trading with the Orioles, Red Sox (if even interested), or New York teams, but I could see definitely Friedman give up what it takes to land Cease.
  20. Given that we will suck the next two years, I hope the Dodgers buy themselves the next two World Series so people stop thinking it’s cool that the richest team in baseball outspends the competition and realize that parity is fundamentally broken and will only get worse with time.
  21. What happened to Fabian? Is he out with the addition of Watson? Regardless, Marco Paddy & Paul Janish are obviously two other key guys you’re missing.
  22. Red Sox appear to be legit broke based on their 2/$26M offer to Teoscar…you have to think Cease’s $8M salary would be super appealing to them.
  23. They lost their stud closer as well who is likely a big reason they exceeded their Pythagorean W-L projection.
  24. $8.5M deferred out to 2030 to 2039, so quite as big as it would otherwise seem
