Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Robert Murray also indicating we have interest in Quintana. -
Anyone know the status of Jonathan Stiever? I thought he was supposed to be back by now?

And That's a White Sox Over .500 Winner !
Chicago White Sox replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Huge win but for the love of god please fire Menechino! That would probably be more impactful than any reasonable acquisitions for RF or 2B. -
Most frustrating offense I can remember as a Sox fan. We literally have one guy on pace for 20 HRs and he’s currently on the IL with an undiagnosed issue. For reference, the 2018 White Sox who bottomed out at 62 wins in the middle of our rebuild had four guys with 20+ and another two with 17+. And it’s not like we have a bunch of guys who can’t hit HRs. This is straight up shitty approach from a hitting coach who honestly believes in a “fuck the HR” mantra.

He had a 93rd percentile xwOBA, 97th percentile K rate, 96th percentile fastball velocity, & 98th percentile fastball spin rate in his first season back after missing multiple years of development due to TJs & COVID. Dude looked like a bonafide stud…ERA be damned. For comparison, Cease had a 3.91 ERA last year and is suddenly one of the best pitchers in baseball. I’m confident Kopech is going to make a similar leap next year even if this year is somewhat disappointing.

I think you’re 100% right. There is definitely some media bias when it comes to farm systems.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.
Chicago White Sox replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We already have to add one starter next off-season unless we plan to bring back and rely on a 37 year old Cueto. Honestly, I don’t think Kopech is movable given the lack of pitching depth in the upper minors. Also, I think people are letting a mediocre 2022 season driven by him getting stretched out get in the way of a proper evaluation. Dude is likely to take a massive step forward next year and I fully expect him to be our #2 starter behind Cease for the next three years. I get how good Soto is, but creating a major hole in the rotation is going to negate much of the value.
