  1. I remember when people ripped the Sox offense led by Thomas, Konerko, Ordonez, & Lee for being station to station. Meanwhile, now we have a bunch of slow guys hitting groundballs without the insane amount of homers. Got to love a Frank Menechino offense!
  2. He had a 93rd percentile xwOBA, 97th percentile K rate, 96th percentile fastball velocity, & 98th percentile fastball spin rate in his first season back after missing multiple years of development due to TJs & COVID. Dude looked like a bonafide stud…ERA be damned. For comparison, Cease had a 3.91 ERA last year and is suddenly one of the best pitchers in baseball. I’m confident Kopech is going to make a similar leap next year even if this year is somewhat disappointing.
  3. He looked untouchable last year though…I’d be real hesitant to move him when we all knew this was going to be a development year for him.
  4. What’s the deal with his slider? I noticed on Statcast earlier today that his whiff rate is down significantly vs. last year.
  5. Choosing between Vaughn & Sheets in RF is like deciding whether to be eaten alive by a bear or a shark. Just mind boggling that the only OF Hahn added was one unable to play RF.
  6. I think you’re 100% right. There is definitely some media bias when it comes to farm systems.
  7. We already have to add one starter next off-season unless we plan to bring back and rely on a 37 year old Cueto. Honestly, I don’t think Kopech is movable given the lack of pitching depth in the upper minors. Also, I think people are letting a mediocre 2022 season driven by him getting stretched out get in the way of a proper evaluation. Dude is likely to take a massive step forward next year and I fully expect him to be our #2 starter behind Cease for the next three years. I get how good Soto is, but creating a major hole in the rotation is going to negate much of the value.
  8. Unfortunately he retired from the game and is currently in insider heaven with wetbutt
  9. Orlando…lol, that was his name. I’m sorry, but pretending to be an insider is like the lamest thing ever. Glad he got outed unlike the GOAT Portillo’s!
  10. That’s fine, but the point is offering those guys is not something that PIT is going to accept for Reynolds. You can have your own view on whether it’s worth trading top prospects for established players, but it’s demand-supply that drive market prices and your offer doesn’t reflect the market.
  11. This guy is legit fraud FYI and likely a Soxtalk member, perhaps even the same clown who ran the Al’s Cheesy Beef account.
  12. Would you accept that package if you’re the Pirates GM?
  13. The Cuba gave away Cease because he didn’t fit their window and they needed help right now. Crochet doesn’t fit our window as a starter and if a rebuilding club is willing to commit to him, then he may prove more useful to us as a trade chip than a major league reliever.
  14. Can’t they option him? I believe he has three of them left, which means a club like the Cubs could give him a couple seasons of minor league time to develop and still have four years of major league control.
  15. I think those two are the minimum and I’d expect another top 10 prospect would be required to even get their attention. I’m one of the higher guys here on Colas (I think he’s a legit top 100 prospect already with top 40 upside), but I think him & Colson are a pretty attractive pair of headliners. Other teams could beat it, but most clubs are hesitant to trade legit blue chip prospects.
  16. I’d have to think about it. Who are we kicking out of a playoff rotation for Perez? I get he has been good, but I think we got to bank on Giolito & Lynn returning to form as part of any trade deadline strategy.
