We need to wait and see what the Sox do this offseason before making these kind of declarations. The Sox have a finite amount of money and resources. While not picking up the QO looks bad right now, the one caveat with the QO is you can not trade the player if they accept for some period of time. If they wanted to use the $18M on other needs and didn’t want to take any chances of Carlos returning given pessimism on his ability to repeat his 2021 results and/or stay healthy, then there is still some logic here. That being said, this definitely feels like a miss given the contract he got from the Giants.

As long as they make improvements and don’t stand pat I won’t melt-down. Like I think Conforto makes so much more sense than Castellanos, but the latter still adds a major bat that gives us the flexibility to deal from a strength to address other needs. But if we do nothing else but add a reliever I will certainly erupt.

Also, I’m 100% certain he called Boras immediately upon the CBA ratified based on the way he addressed that question and with the stupid grin he made. I just hope this doesn’t take a week for shit to start happening.

Ohtani is a freak talent like any other in baseball. I did not mean him when I made my statement. Yes, Conforto & Bassitt have risks, but Michael dealing with a hamstring issue in 2021 doesn’t really worry me all that much where a guy changing leagues / countries is a huge wild card. He could be a steal, he could be a flop. Where are right now, I want certainty and I think Conforto’s ability against RHP addresses a massive need. I’m not entirely against Rodon, but I don’t want to give him a multi year deal and I don’t want to risk $20M on him this year if it costs me the chance of getting Conforto. Again, it’s all about risk and Carlos is about as risky as a pitcher comes. Bassitt being 33 isn’t nearly the same risk as he hasn’t really shown any signs of slowing down.

Boras doesn’t exactly have a ton of time. Once dominoes start falling, teams will quickly move to the next best option. I don’t see teams waiting weeks to sign a corner OF bat, but Boras will obviously try to drag things out as best as he can.

I boarding a flight tonight around 6pm so I fully expect some major move, hopefully Conforto, to be announced around then. Either way, Hahn needs to be aggressive with Boras and not let him slow play us and risk coming out empty handed. A left-handed power bat or savage is critical for having a successful offseason.

Why are clubs disclosing their medical reviews of Rodon to the media exactly? What benefit does that provide? I mean it couldn’t be anymore obvious that it’s a Boras leak and using the Mets is just the cherry on the sundae.

And 2007 Jermaine is basically how Vaughn & Sheets performed in RF (SSS). Vaughn was admittedly much better in LF FWIW/

Bassitt is a pretty damn good pitcher.

I just think Suzuki makes more sense for a team a year or two out from being serious competitors vs. a team in the thick of their window.

The track record recently with Japanese positional players is pretty poor and I’d much rather have sure things than gamble my money on a pitcher who has one good healthy season in his career and a guy who has never played stateside. Those are both massive risks vs. Bassitt & Conforto for the same and it’s worth the prospect capital IMO.

I think he can downplay RF to the media, but acting like 2B is fine is hilarious unless Tony has taken over and is giving his favorite little Legend a full time job.

When prices are exponentially higher. You actually want to enter the 2022 season with Leury Garcia as your 2B and both Vaughn & Sheets as regulars? Seems absolutely nuts to me.
