  1. I’ll still can’t believe we DFAed Eaton before the All Star break.
  2. Why is his high end velocity gone forever?
  3. 100% agree with that. Vaughn is hands down the better fielder and should get the bulk of the starts out there.
  4. We can’t DH Eloy all the time if we think there is any chance he might needed in LF. I’m all for DHing him most days, but he’ll need to get the occasional start in the field.
  5. What happens during the World Series?
  6. I don’t mean long-term, but the way utilize him the rest of the way will impact how many innings he can give us next year. At some point we need him to start having multi-inning appearances if not legit starts. He’s only at 35.1 innings on the year. Hopefully you’re right and they’re just bringing him back slowly from injury and plan to unleash him a bit more in the 2nd half.
  7. I’m greatly concreted with how many innings he’ll be able to go next year. Seems like he’s moving more into a true one inning reliever role, although hopefully that’s just temporary.
  8. Oh no doubt they got some legit pitching talent, but pitching prospects are always fickle. I do like Skubal & Mize quite a bit though and Manning obviously has a ton of potential. If all three of those guys hit, they could have one of the better rotations in the AL. I still don’t think they have a potential positional core to worry about just yet. I could see them being a threat come 2024, but I’m not overly concerned about them in the immediate future.
  9. He also cites a factually incorrect “Heyman said the Pirates can get Vaughn for Frazier” statement.
  10. Pizza Man is dead, why do we think his son will spend as significantly?
  11. Who are the four solid pitchers?
  12. Not a big deal either way as I don’t expect much out of him at 2B, but would have been fun to see.
  13. I really wish they would have given Burger at start at 2B.
  14. Here’s how I have them ranked at the moment: Top 10 List (Pipeline Rank | Level | Age) Jared Kelley, RHP (#1 | Low A | 19) Bryan Ramos, 3B/2B (#12 | Low A | 19) Jake Burger, 3B (#11 | Majors | 25) Yoelqui Cespedes, OF (#2 | High A | 23) Jose Rodriguez, SS (#14 | Low A | 20) Jonathan Stiever, RHP (#4 | AAA | 24) Matthew Thompson, RHP (#3 | Low A | 20) Norge Vera, RHP (#7 | N/A | 21) Andrew Dalquist, RHP (#5 | Low A | 20) Gavin Sheets 1B/OF (#9 | Majors | 25)
  15. Chilling in the Dominican for tax reasons I believe
  16. 100% agree. That was my biggest issue with the film, but didn’t ruin the film to much for me.
  17. What does is take to get Gallo? Is Crochet & Burger even get you in the door?
  18. The bulk of our talent is locked up for the next three years at minimum. I’m not going on a limb to think we can go on an “extended run” from 2021 to 2024 in the weakest division in baseball. What are you going to do if we trade the handful of our attractive trade chips we have and don’t win a World Series? Again, just because Lynn & Rodon are free agents doesn’t mean the window is suddenly ending. Kopech can replace one of them and he may have the highest ceiling of any starter in baseball not named deGrom. I still maintain high confidence that Lynn will back on a two or three year deal as wants to win and appears to love it here. We will almost certainly offer Rodon a QO and given how effective those were at keeping Gausman & Stroman, there’s a chance he could back for the 2022 season. Point is the sky is not falling and we can’t afford to panic and shorten our window, which should last at least through the 2024 season.
  19. I wouldn’t say he hasn’t always gone cheap as he’s consistently rocked top 10 when attendance has been there. After the 2005 season, we were one of the biggest spenders in the game and were regularly in the top five for a short stretch. Point is Jerry won’t spend money to make money, but he will reinvest revenue back into the team. And with attendance & ratings way up, I’m not going on a huge limb here when I say Jerry’s financial situation looks incredibly healthy at the moment. Unless he uses a potential work stoppage to go cheap again (which has a non-zero chance), I’m confident we will see decent payroll increases in the coming years.
  20. That’s fair, although didn’t Detmers have significantly better results in college? Either way, I still think a prep SS makes so much more sense given where our system is at now and how teams currently value prospects. If the right college arm slipped I wouldn’t be against taking him at 22, but my understanding is this draft is super deep in prep SS’s and if we could somehow double-up with two of them in rounds 1 & 2 I think that’s a total coup for a system in desperate need of young up-the-middle talent.
  21. We don’t know what the Sox are capable of as the pandemic clearly caused Jerry to go cheap. That being said, I fully expect the Sox to resign Lynn and move Kopech into the rotation full-time. A 1-5 of Lynn, Gioltio, Kopech, Cease, & Keuchel is still very strong. If we can afford a RF and some bullpen upgrades, we should run away with the Central next year (health permitting). This season doesn’t need to be an “all-in” year.
  22. You’re scared of Detroit’s offense because of two prospects? Other than Baddoo, what other young foundational piece do they have in their major league lineup? Meanwhile, the Sox have Anderson, Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn, & Madrigal for the next three to six years. They have some promising young pitching no doubt (which can be volatile), but they got to a ways to go with the offense to catch up to us.
  23. There is zero chance Kopech gets traded as he’s literally one of the most important pieces in the entire organization.
