  1. Sorry for the delay on this, but crazy day at work and totally forgot I started yesterday’s game-thread. Normally I’d like do a small write-up on the match-up, but for the sake of time I’m simply going to say: FUCK A TIGER & LET’S GO BOYS!!
  2. Not sure if this means that LuGo moved past Basabe or if the lack of options was the only issue. For whatever reason, I find it even more annoying that we just gave Basabe away now.
  3. We should definitely put Yoan on the DL for a week cause he’s just killing us.
  4. Wow he was out by a mile. Good fucking decision right there.
  5. His ground-ball rate coming into today was the lowest on the team at 26.7%...
  6. Same bad pitches there by Hudson, but credit to Jose for not swinging at something stupid.
  7. Anderson’s wOBACON was at .507 coming into today, league average is .369. That is really fucking good.
  8. BABIP <> automatically mean luck and our team should always be high BABIP due to the profiles of our hitters. Also, Statcast seems to suggest we’ve gotten unlucky when it comes to balls we’ve made contact on based on our wOBACON.
  9. Are you actually a Sox fan? Seems like you are more of a prospect junkie would actually like to see Madrigal fail because he wasn’t one of your guys.
  10. Fair enough...just no way anyone would have thought Madrigal would have been the worst baserunner in baseball after five games. Clearly a couple bad plays (including the one he got injured on) driving that.
  11. You may want to redo the offensive ones after yesterday’s spectacular effort!
  12. Lol at without looking...you’re hunting for reasons to hate on Madrigal.
  13. Abreu batting cleanup again! I guess when you’re 33 you never need a day off!
  14. Just wanted to point this out, but here are our hitters’ average launch angles this year vs. last year with their ground-ball rates in parentheses: Jimenez: 3.1 / -6.2 (54.7% / +6.8) Anderson: 7.4 / -1.3 (52.9% / +4.3%) Abreu: 7.8 / -3.1 (55.6% / +9.3%) Grandal: 8.9 / -4.4 (41.7% / +2.6%) Robert: 9.4 / NA (42.0% / NA) Moncada: 16.8 / +4.5 (36.5% / -5.8%) Encarnacion: 22.3 / -4.9 (42.3% / +11.5%) Mazara: 20.5 / +10.1 (26.7% / -20.1%) MLB Avg: 11.9 Some of our guys are actually hitting balls pretty hard this year, but their launch angles have decreased quite a bit YoY and that has resulted in a lot more ground-balls. Eloy & Jose are real problems as they are guys with serious power who you’d like to see lofting the ball much more. I’m not sure if this is from a lack of awareness of how launch angle works, a lack of game-planning against certain types of pitchers & pitches, or just a sample size issue (I’m sure this is part of it), but our offense will continue to have problems if what should be a power-oriented offense keeps hitting this many ground-balls.
