What I don’t get is Robert has without question been one of our best hitters, but in at attempt to protect him no matter the cost he’s willing to put undue pressure on a guy who has been terrible this year and another unproven young player.

Why? Delmonico & Collins batting 4th & 5th over Luis Robert makes total sense.

He doesn’t have the speed or athleticism to play a subpar LF IMO. We should have just signed a cheap corner bat in the likely event Mazara or Eloy (or both!) missed time.

Real talk, but the lack of OF depth is astounding to me. We literally just started a game with Nicky Delmonico & Adam Engel in the corners. We honestly don’t deserve to win baseball games against a team like the Indians with such horrible offensive players in LF & RF.

Was just about the post the same thing. Definitely don’t want to be 1-4 after 8% of the season.

He was technically a below league average hitter against RHP last year (99 wRC+) and still bats 3rd every day. He’ll have to really fall off for a change to happen unfortunately.

We needEd a high OBP, left-handed bat and desperately needed to improve our framing. Grandal was the best way to fill all those needs in one spot. And McCann was good last year, but also was non-tendered by the Tigers two years ago and is only cheap this year.
