Aren’t players being tested every two days? If so, hopefully they’ll be able to catch positive results fairly quickly after a false negative.

The Sox have already reported both players are asymptomatic. Maybe that could change, but right I would definitely not assume the worst.

Yup, I obviously don’t want anyone to get it, but selfishly now is definitely the best time for a position player to miss time.

Why though? It’s not like we won’t notice when certain players are out for 14 days. I don’t really see the harm is speculating.

More speculation from me, but it appears the 38 positives that were just reported by MLB only included those tested during the intake process. Also, the two players in question for the White Sox are currently under quarantine in Chicago. I think this likely means Kopech isn’t a part of the two, but leaves open the possibility that his “personal issue” was a positive COVID result in the last handful of weeks while at home. Would explain the complete vagueness / uncertainty by Hahn given an inability to disclose COVID.

I’m currently driving from Chicago to Nashville and have nothing else to do but scroll through Twitter and put together a list of who has been accounted for so far. 24 members of our 44 man summer camp roster still haven’t been seen yet at practices from what I can tell and two others have already been reported as not being at camp in Kopech & Cuthbert. My guess is most of those unaccounted for are participating in afternoon practices. The good news is there should be some intrasquad games starting next week, so we should be able to figure this out fairly soon. Illinois is the 5th most populated state in the U.S. with a major international airport that I’m sure isn’t helping matters. Also, in terms of total cases Illinois is actually the 7th highest and only the 12th highest over the last 7th days. Relative to their population size, the data says Illinois is doing a pretty good job. And I just spent a week in the Chicago suburbs and it’s night & day how how much more seriously this is being taken than in Nashville and other southern areas I’ve been to recently.

The fact he’s three years younger, is already a higher regarded prospect, and has a legit super-star type ceiling. I really like Madrigal and he gives us a skillset we really need, but Kelenic has a chance to be the guy we all look back on in that draft and wonder why we passed on him.

It’s not that crazy of a take to say we should of drafted Kelenic over Madrigal with the benefit of hindsight. And that doesn’t mean Madrigal is a bad pick, it’s just saying we probably didn’t draft the best player that was available to us at #4.

That tweet is almost certainly bullshit. This user claimed that Kopech had lost the will to play in a previous tweet and now is saying Kopech’s GF is pregnant and that’s why he’s going to sit out. It’s 99.9% likely this user is simply trolling.
