Thanks! Will be interesting to see who gets cut when those guys are back. Like @ChiSox59 said, there is not a lot of fat on the 40 man roster at the moment.
-
Are two more cuts coming? Roster resource shows us at 42 at the moment, which makes sense given were at 39, added four, and only cut one. ? https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-chicago-white-sox/

16 Team Playoffs in 2020 Agreed Upon
Chicago White Sox replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The time off piece makes such a construct a bit trickier in baseball, but it definitely would make the regular more worthwhile than just a straight 8 team free for all. -
Juan Soto out Opening Day with COVID-19
Chicago White Sox replied to Steve9347's topic in The Diamond Club
Did he know he was exposed to someone with COVID? Maybe I don’t have all the facts here. I do agree 48 to 72 hours seems pretty crazy. -

Again, unless I’m totally off base on testing turnaround times (which is very possible), this is going to keep happening and likely has happened multiple times already. -

I figured the turnaround time on a test was a good 24 hours, which if true, wouldn’t allow for such a scenario to work. -

Let’s be honest, zero excuse for us not to make the playoffs when we play the Tigers, Royals, & Pirates 25 times. If we can’t squeeze into that 8th and we are relatively healthy, I think it’s time for Ricky to be let go. -

If that’s the case, I’m actually all for this. But then the second round would have six teams to work through right? How does that work? -

Oh I get what you’re saying now, but are tests really supposed to come back that quickly? I guess I assumed there was always a lag effect and this would no doubt happen throughout the season, which is why masks and social distancing is of the utmost importance. -

Maybe I’m missing something, but did people actually think this wouldn’t happen? -

Are you going to panic every time a single player tests positive? -

I really don’t like that at all long-term. For this season I’m fine with whatever, but forcing a 100 win team to win a best of three series after a 162 game season seems crazy. -
Not sure how stretching guys out will work in Schaumburg, but I think that’s the plan for Dunning.
-
Won’t matter in two weeks, because both guys would have been amongst the first cuts to get down to 28.
-
I think Madrigal does, but not sure Dunning gets a spot right given the roster shrinks to 28 in two weeks. I think they stretch him out as much as they can and keep him as starter depth.
-
How did they add four guys to the 40 man roster when they only had one opening and only cut one active player?

Predict the White Sox 30 man opening roster

We had like the worst production out of RF last year and with Mazara out we now have noodle-armed, no bat Engel as our primary option. I just can’t believe they couldn’t find a single minor league free agent with some upside as a fallback plan. -

When are they announcing the OD roster? Will be very interesting to see if they open up any 40 man roster spots. Feels like Heuer should definitely get a spot and if they want to add anyone else (say Delmonico or maybe Cuthbert) someone has got to go. Seems like the chopping block if a spot is needed would come down to Fulmer (no options), Ruiz (not very good and only one option left), Foster (fringiest talent on roster), or Zavala (5th on the catching depth chart). I kind of wonder if we’ve seen the last of Carson Fulmer. IMO, he basically has no chance of being here once rosters are dropped to 26, so maybe they just the rip the band-aid now to allow the roster to carry an extra non-rostered position player while Mazara is out and before Madrigal is up. -
I don’t believe anything is under control when it comes to COVID, at least not in this country. That being said, I do think testing every other day should greatly reduce the chance of a major team-wide outbreak, if (and it’s a big one), guys are social distancing and wearing masks. I guess we’ll see how this all shakes, but no reason to assume the worst due to one positive test.

Thank you. I was trying to argue there may be correlation, but not causation.

You’re my new go to COVID expert bmags!

Ok, but it’s not directly related to be symptomatic correct?
