  1. I thought the lack of ill will in Kopech’s camp was the more interesting part of the quote.
  2. Depends on the prospects, although I’d definitely lean towards no. That being said, why would any team trade for him right now?
  3. I will say Lopez is the real winner in all of this. Giolito, Cease, & Keuchel are rotation locks. I think Lopez would have no doubt started the season in the rotation but now has a lot more breathing room with one less threat to his spot. Hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity.
  4. There are still 16 spots available on the taxi squad. I’ll wager large sums of money both of them will be on there.
  5. I think the rule is you need two negative tests in a row.
  6. Kopech had one of the best sliders in the minors and flashed a very promising change-up with the Sox before his injury. His command also improved significantly after a rough start with Charlotte. Honestly, I thought he was starting to put it all together before his elbow broke down.
  7. Scott Merkin certainly did and he has no problem implying the Sox will be manipulating Madrigal’s service time.
  8. Maybe it’s not the end of the world, but there is value in getting 60 innings of major league development and then having an offseason to work on stuff.
  9. He doesn’t owe us an explanation, but we certainly have a right to wonder why he isn’t playing. This is a White Sox message board filled with diehard fans, of course we are going to wonder what’s going on with a key member of our organization and how it might impact our future. I really don’t get why you are thread policing over this.
  10. None of them are guarantees, but Kopech IMO has a better shot of being a TOR starter than Cease and a much better shot than Lopez.
  11. How were we going to get that year back? Kopech was basically a lock to start the season with us once the season got shortened / delayed.
  12. That seems fairly bogus to me given he was throwing towards the end of last year and seemed good this spring, but obviously I’m no trainer so who fucking. That being said, I’d be ecstatic if that were the reason.
  13. 100% agree with this. It’s definitely nice to get the extra year of service time, but it likely delays his development time which could us next year.
  14. There is definitely a silver lining potentially, but it’s also another year off without building up innings or developing his changeup. Both of which may limit his impact in a hopefully competitive 2021 season.
  15. I’m not saying it’s a death sentence, but it puts a tremendous amount of pressure on Cease (or Lopez) to develop into a TOR starter and for Lucas to maintain his 2019 production level. I just don’t see us ever spending more than we offered to Wheeler and that’s going to make buying a TOR starter challenging. We really need to develop our top end starters internally and Kopech is without question our best chance at after Giolito.
  16. Should be five years unless they try to manipulate service time to start the 2021 season.
  17. Just got to hope he eventually comes back or we are in big trouble.
