He may be crying poor right now, but the reality is we don’t have the same fixed cost structure that a lot of teams do and can better survive the loss of revenue from no fan attendance. We’ll have to wait and see if he actually goes up to $140M, but I have zero concerns that he’ll actually make cuts.

Let me be on record saying that I’d rather not trade prospects for Gallo. Use those resources for a TOR starter and then add a short-term stop-gap in RF that primarily costs money. In this economic environment, I bet a team would be willing to ship-out an expiring contract of a pretty good RF for a marginal return. Then go out and add Cespedes or Colas in this amateur free agent class to be the long-term answer.

I think we’d have to give up a better second piece than Stiever or Kelley would have to be that 4th piece (if he can even be traded)

I’ve run the numbers and at a $140M payroll (slightly above league average), we should have $35M to work with and that’s assuming we bring back Rodon & Lopez as bullpen arms.

Hopefully they’ll let him throw 150 today, because he deserves a shot at this!

Seven years of a top 5 position player is always going to be worth more than four years of a top 5 pitcher just due to injury risk.

It should definitely his long-term home unless he starts hitting for power.

Because he’s not that good of a hitter. Don’t get me wrong, he should be a really good backup IF, but those saying he should play over Madrigal were wrong. Nick is going to be a legit good hitter even if the power is ultimately underwhelming.
