Would you trade for Mookie Betts, and what would you trade
Chicago White Sox replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And they were coming off an 88 win season. Much easier to trade away cost controlled talent when you have a playoff caliber core in place. -
Alright, with the season over but the offseason yet to begin, I think now would be a great time to do some prospect rankings. So to kick things off, let’s rank the top 10 outfielders in the system. Here’s my official list: Luis Robert Steele Walker Micker Adolfo Luis Basabe Luis Gonzalez Blake Rutherford Bryce Bush Luis Mieses James Beard Anderson Comas

I forgot about that Goldschmidt trade and yeah no fucking thanks on Mookie. -
I think it was just a theoretical, for fun “look how much talent we could get for Yoan & Timmy” exercise. Obviously the Sox aren’t going to do that trade, so no reason to take the post too seriously.

This Betts talk is insanity. I was one of the few who wasn’t theoretically against a Machado trade a year ago, but our system actually had some SP & OF depth at the time. Due to injuries and underperformance, we simply don’t have the prospect capital it’s going to take to land Mookie, who is an even better player than Manny and whose cost will most certainly be more. When it comes to trades this offseason, Robert, Madrigal, Vaughn, Kopech, & Cease should 100% be off limits. That doesn’t really leave much, with Stiever & Walker probably being our best trade chips (assuming Dunning’s value is suppressed due to injury). I just don’t see a matchup here even if we were prepared to take a big risk and unload decent prospects for one year of Betts. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams

Any time somebody wants to rip David Sampson or Jeff Loria is fine by me. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams

Not that Stone’s tweet changes anything, but David Sampson is a true scumbag and anyone that would take his word as fact is simply looking for dirt on Jerry. -
Yeah, that would be pretty fantastic.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams

Your reading comprehension is nearly as bad as your whiny b**** attitude if you think I’m defending “management”. I clearly blamed KW for the Wilder fiasco and last I checked he oversees our baseball operations. But keep on hating brother, one of these times your actually going to get me! -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Chicago White Sox replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There is little accountability for results, that I won’t argue with. But to suggest that encourages fraud is ridiculous. Con artists can thrive in any environment that doesn’t have the necessary controls in place and that item falls on KW. Do you think the Braves have a culture of no accountability and that’s why their GM was breaking the rules in LatAm? -

Pushover? I’m blaming the coach for a portion of today’s loss on top of the players, while you b**** about Mitch who didn’t even play today... -

I’m not suggesting that is the only contributor (clearly its not), but I’d wager it played some small part of the ugly first half. -

To Gruden’s credit, he purposely flew in earlier than had in the past because he thought it was that important. -

This is quite frankly ridiculous and par for the course with you. -

The Raiders did fly out way earlier than us as Gruden apparently decided it was important to get his guys acclimated. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams

I agree with most of what you’re saying, but I still don’t see any connection between Reinsdorf & Wilder. KW & only KW is to blame for that. Jerry’s type of LatAm operation isn’t the reason why Wilder was able to commit fraud. -

Exactly. Plenty to be upset about today and none of it involved Mitch unless you are just a whiny little b****. -

Because what else would @Moan4Yoan do with his time? Dude was whining about Mitch when the Bears first took the lead after a rough first half. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Chicago White Sox replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wilder wasn’t really here that long and was committing fraud to help hype up his LatAm signings. Hard to blame the Chairman for that. It took us years to repair the damage that was done and Paddy has gradually improved the function, but at the end of the day Jerry is going to play by his rules and he never liked going over slot and committing a lot of money in this area. But again, my point was on Wilder, not the shitshow our LatAm function has been for years. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Chicago White Sox replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You’re missing my point. You’re making the assumption that Reinsdorf pushed for them not to spend that money. I honestly don’t think that’s the case and believe it’s more likely they somehow botched the recruiting process when they were in the penalty box. They never had a problem spending this money beforehand. Just find it odd they go with an older Cuban prospect and not much else when they finally get out of the box. When they say “Paddy didn’t like any of the available guys” as the reason to they didn’t sign anyone else, it seems like the quality prospects had all paired up with other teams. I really think our organization simply fucked up somehow. -

Who is defending him? Are you actually creating false narratives so you have something new to whine about? -

You had some good points until this, where you are drawing some massive conclusions, especially with the Wilder stuff. If you think Jerry spends much time on a typical LatAm amateur signing you are completely off base. KW is completely to blame for Wilder. -

The trade would have been fine if Mitch ended up being the high end QB that Pace thought he was getting. You can’t be afraid to overpay for a franchise QB. The problem is you’ve got to be certain in your guy when paying that much and right now the early returns aren’t looking good on that front.
