  1. Yeah, none of this is happening but good story bro.
  2. If you can get a top 100 prospect you do it in a heartbeat. He can replaced next offseason with all the cash we have.
  3. Trust me, I’d kill for Cole. He’s definitely the guy we should be prioritizing above all else. Just worried Reinsdorf will have a hard limit on years that will prevent us from being competitive.
  4. But don’t rehab assignments have max durations? Just read something that said it was like 30 days for pitchers. I don’t disagree that it would get some criticism, but I don’t think it’s totally unethical if the goal is to win in 2020.
  5. I love it, let them have one moment together and then send Yonder packing.
  6. I’m not sure I agree here. If the Sox go out and add a pair of free agent starters, it’s easy to argue that they’re trying to compete right out of the gate and have Kopech work through his rust in games that don’t matter.
  7. Honestly, it a perfect world we sign two free agent starters (for now let’s say Wheeler & Wood). The rotation to start 2019 would then be the following: Giolito Wheeler Cease Wood* Lopez Then sometime in May (once we get a year back on control and some rust has been worn off), Kopech comes up and likely replaces Lopez (who goes to the pen or optioned to Charlotte). At some point, Rodon & Dunning should be back. While Dane can’t be counted on to fill a major league role in 2020, Carlos can potentially be a factor if we make a playoff push and need an arm to replace Cease or Kopech late in the season.
  8. He’s saying the Sox will have to add multiple starters to have a healthy rotation at the beginning of the year, but when the TJS guys finally come back we are actually going to have some depth. As raBBit has said before, that’s a good thing since Kopech & Cease may not be ready for a deep postseason run.
  9. I know this will come off as petty and dickish, but I was really hoping that Alonso would have gotten DFAed before Jay & Alonso had a chance to play with each other.
  10. The three big trades and Robert look great at the moment. Had Hahn really been killing it and was able to supplement via the draft, this rebuild would be in fantastic shape. Unfortunately he’s failed in that regard and our margin for error is paper thin.
  11. Those teams didn’t rely on free agency to build their teams. They drafted for upside and made bold trades, which are things the Bulls don’t do. None of the three teams are going to be popular destinations for star free agents.
  12. Wheeler & Wood (assuming Cole is a no go).
  13. Outside of Reinsdorf and both having front offices with no accountability, the organizations are very different. The Bulls are the crown jewel of the NBA when it comes to fan support and the organization is overflowing with money. They may not recklessly spend into the luxury tax, but they aren’t cheap outside of dealing 2nd round picks for cash. The Bulls’ issues are liking their players too much, being afraid of taking risks, hiring bad coaches (outside of Thibs), and being completely unable to land a star despite wanting to land them. I guess the Sox hire bad coaches as wel, but the rest of those things are vastly different from the Bulls.
  14. Alonso can’t even put the ball in play, what a fucking chump.
  15. Or trade him for a prospect and then replace next offseason in free agency.
  16. Adolfo had a .918 OPS / 152 wRC+ last year in April (24 games), so I’m not sure the slow start angle automatically applies here. That being said, while I don’t think the sample size this year is statistically significant by any means, I disagree his start was a bright spot. The walks were nice, but they came with a ton of K’s and no power. I’m optimistic he would have improved over the course of the season, but I’m still going to call it a slow start.
  17. I was basing his ranking on his performance during an admittedly small sample of games. Based on that alone, it’s hard to say he met expectations with a 38% K rate and minimal power even with an improved BB rate.
  18. To the Bulls’ credit, a willingness to spend on stars has never been the issue. Unfortunately their front office is simply incapable of landing one, partly because they’re unlikable and party because Chicago isn’t a desirable winter location for a lot of those guys.
  19. I’m personally not that concerned about McCann getting hurt mid- game and losing the DH. If that happens it would suck but it’s impact would be limited to one game. To me, that’s not a big deal.
  20. I’m not giving up on the idea of Collins being in the mix, but McCann has been pretty impressive even when accounting for all the BABIP luck and as of now I’d ideally like to see him kept around (this is all subject to change upon further observation). If another catcher is needed, we can always add a cheap veteran if Zavala doesn’t look the part. I do think any interesting idea would be to add Grandal, resign McCann, and go with a three man rotation at C & DH, with Collins getting a little bit of time at 1B when Vaughn needs a day off. It would 100% depend on McCann’s salary depends when it comes to an extension, but if he’s looking for something reasonable it’s an interesting concept that could help us get a ton of value out of the catcher spot.
  21. But he’s barely been playing as of late, seems odd for Ricky to suddenly re-insert him into the lineup. I think he may go when Jay comes back.
  22. Anyone else think Alonso is getting his last run of starts and will be released in the next couple weeks? It’s moderately annoying that Collins is on the bench in favor of Yonder, especially since Zack could have played 1B with Abreu DHing.
