  1. What point am I missing exactly? Please elaborate because otherwise this just comes off as a douchey response.
  2. No, I’m not suggesting any one thing in particular, just that teams reached out to the Dodgers afte the leak and expressed some viewpoint on value (whether current or in the future) that caused the Dodgers to reasses their decision to take the White Sox’s offer.
  3. Ok, now I’m convinced your an internet-based algorithm. Twitter did not make them realize it was a bad trade. The Twitter leak allowed other teams to see the offer the Sox had made and allowed them to express their own viewpoints on value. The Dodgers then reassessed the situation and decided they needed more from the Sox to pull the trigger. None of this is very far-fetched and I’m shocked you’re struggling with this so much.
  4. Lol...I’m sure the Dodgers would be willing to trade with the Indians in February but not in July. Is that what you’re actually suggesting here?
  5. Now, this is a great question and one worth debating. Hahn may not like the leaks, but who the hell the responsible party here? If it’s own camp he has no one else to blame but himself.
  6. Tony, you seem like a pretty smart guy, but this is straight up a ridiculous post that’s clearly driven by your anger over the Machado trade. There is no doubt in my mind that Hahn, KW, & Jerry fucked up when it came to Machado and that could have long-term repercussions to the franchise (I literally b**** about this daily). That being said, them being incompetent does not mean they are disingenuous. There is zero reason for Hahn to lie here, he has no track record of lying, and an agreed upon Joc deal was hinted at (or outright stated) by multiple Sox insiders. I find it pretty wild so many people are unwilling to accept this, as I’m sure people back out of deals all the time for all sorts of reasons.
  7. You make everything way too black and white. Just because the Dodgers didn’t take a deal now, does not mean they don’t plan on trading him at some point in the future. Based on the calls they received after the leak, the Dodgers may have reason to believe that they’ll have a much bigger market come June or July. Also, the White Sox had a deal in place for Jose Quintana in Decemeber of 2016, saw it fall through, and decided to wait seven months before ultimately dealing him. These guys aren’t selling assets that are automatically depreciating in value, sometimes holding for a period of time is the best course of action.
  8. Lol...did you or Tony even listen to the interview? He wasn’t making excuses, he was answering a question. FWIW, Hahn thinks they had a great offseason other than the Machado miss (which I fully disagree with).
  9. I probably hate Rick Hahn more than anyone in the world right now and even I can understand the impact leaks can have on a potential trade. This isn’t unique to just baseball either, leaks in general are dangerous for business deals.
  10. Are we actually comparing selling baseball players to selling vehicles? Cars are a detoriating asset and the automotive market is unrestricted with numerous buyers & sellers that allow for complete transparency on value. Baseball players valuations are completely subjective, their markets (and valuations) are limited to / impacted by a small set of buyers and sellers, and their stocks can actually increase by holding on them. This is an absolutely horrible comparison.
  11. My optimism for the rebuild will greatly improve with strong seasons from these two. Would love to see Yoan to put up a 4 win season (or better) and Eloy come close to a 3 win season.
  12. He specifically mentioned he had a framework for a trade agreed to and that after the leak came out the other GM increased his ask. He implied that typically this is the result of other GMs entering the mix and causing the price to change.
  13. Who is calling them idiots? Maybe the Dodgers were simply high on Fulmer and thought they could return him to 1st round status? We took a broken Gavin Floyd and a broken Lucas Giolito as centerpieces in major trades. I really don’t think it’s that far-fetched that teams reached out to the Dodgers after the leak and their front office decided the framework they agreed to wasn’t enough and maybe they had valued Carson too highly.
  14. He was asked a question from Garfein about all the Twitter leaks this offseason and how that impacted them. He said most of the leaks weren’t true, but they can’t dispute them without indicating which ones are true. He then said leaks have impacted multiple deals in the past, including one this offseason. I don’t think he wants anything other than to make it clear the Sox do much better when operating under the radar.
  15. Is this a serious post? Dude potentially lost a deal because it leaked out on Twitter and he can’t be mad because it was too one-sided?
  16. It was stopped by the deal leaking because other teams reached out to Friedman once they saw the terms, which caused Andrew to increase his ask to Hahn. Like I said previously, Friedman may have felt from those conversations that he could extract more value by waiting until a later date (potentially into the season) and than taking the White Sox’s current offer of Fulmer, Bummer, and third piece. Not sure why this is so far fetched. We know the same type of thing happened with Quintana the offseason before we dealt him. While that wasn’t related to a Twitter leak (I don’t believe), we still ended up holding him for like seven months after having initially having a framework for trade agreed to with a different club. Deals fall apart all the time for all sorts of reasons.
  17. The rumored offer was incredibly light though. It’s very possible a team or teams reached out to the Dodgers after they saw the names included in our offer (Fulmer, Bummer) and Friedman simply decided now was not the right to move him and that he could get more at a later date from one of those clubs.
  18. Didn’t the Joc trade leak out around Soxfest, which was a few weeks before Machado even signed? We had multiple people here plus WSD claim a deal had been agreed to. I see zero reason Hahn would lie about this and give the rumored price (which seemed light) I’m not surprised if other teams reached out to the Dodgers shortly thereafter.
  19. Bumped...sounds like Burdi had a lat injury earlier in camp and won’t start with Charlotte until late April.
