  1. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) This is also showing why we needed to keep Jackson or get another starter if he was flipped for Dunn, no major league ready starting pitching in the minors right now. Harrell was flat out lucky last Friday. I was there and kept book...he's not the answer for sure but luck had nothing to do with that game. The kid kept the ball down and Rios made a nice play for him in center to save a 3 run double. Other than that the kid pitched his ass off. I do see your point though.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) I was excited to see this game picked up by MLBN since I don't get WCIU...but I still get blacked out from it for god knows what reason. f*** you WCIU, die in a f***ing fire. Lol, I feel the same way every time I see it on the schedule. The nastiest 4 letter "word" in the book. F#$ CIU
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) It'd be darn nice to pummel the first pitcher out of their pen right now to make another guy or two have to come in and work this game, given that there's another game tonight and 2 more this series. Unfortunately I think Leyland is aware that we would like that a bit too much.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Big surprise that ESPN's new power rankings still have Boston ahead of us. I think you guys need to see how colorful that statement was
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) Guys...you'll never believe this. In an important game, Javy gave up a go-ahead home run in the 6th inning. Lol, let me guess....tailing fastball, inner half??
  6. QUOTE (dielac @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Hawk is killing the "don't stop now boys" He's said it atleast 20 times this week. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) He says it anytime anyone reaches bases. It's really quite annoying. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) He's really getting on my last nerve. I used to think he was one of those guys that you would appreciate a lot more when he's gone. I'm not so sure anymore. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ He is so repetitive now it's sickening. I was at the game last night and just realized the best part was I got a night off from hearing him say stretch 14 times on a medium fly and just underneath it on any foul ball behind the plate between the corner bases.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Not unreasonable at all. But make him the starter?? Why? AJP is doing fine. Castro is doing fine. Start him when Freddy pitches? Of course. Against all lefties? I wouldn't be against that. Rest AJP a little more than normal? Fine. But AJP is the starter. There are things about baseball that include chemistry. This team has it. It would be insane to "demote" him. Just insane to team chemistry/unity. Are you Kotsay's agent?
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) It's not that at all...it's just pointless to be making snark little complaints about s*** Ozzie does or "might do" all the time when it worked out. The bunt last night was the right move. If Lexi really was supposed to lay one down to move him to 2nd it would not have been. But Pierre stole on the first pitch, how many times do managers ever bunt and run? I just feel it serves no purpose getting worked up over a move that worked that essentially won us the game. But to each their own. Yes, yes it would have. Nobody out, tied in the 7th...Juan is getting waved around (and scoring) on a base hit by Rios right there unless it's a tweener or an absolute bullet to Ichiro. NL strategy or not, like it or not, it was the right move to bunt him over (to 2nd or 3rd) in that situation. End of story.
  9. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) The center field fan deck is open to everyone unless somebody's rented it for an event. It's okay--kinda far away though. UD is fine if you're somewhat behind home plate and in the lower rows. Whoever said the hot dogs from the carts on the concourse were better was spot-on; I never liked dogs at the Cell until these guys showed up. That said, the best thing there is the POLISH. And don't go to a ballgame and eat pizza. I agree, just walk around the concourse. Showing them the Bullpen Bar before the game is cool too. ^^^ All of this. I love the fact that if you grab crappy UD tix you can still show up 2 hours before first pitch and make a break for the picnic table in the BP bar. Some of the best seats in the house IMO due to the fact that you can grab the warning track dirt and usually conversate with some of the more down to earth players. IF you're not a total d#@$ that is
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Putz 27, Thornton 17, Threets 7, Santos 6, Jenks 2 = 59 scoreless appearances currently going. OUR BULLPEN IS WHO WE THOUGHT IT WAS!!!
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:08 AM) We should have taken the red line, we arrived a little late. The seats where fine, but it took a moment or two to get comfortable with the UD. We went down to the 100 level and visited with Steff for a few minutes. Friday we're in the 22nd row, so we are looking forward to that. We are planning on spending some time around the park before the game and taking the red line. 115 ROW 8 on Friday...stay away rain!!!
  12. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) I've had tickets to this game for a while now, and I'm very much looking forward to it. But I just realized that they'll also be giving away Frank Thomas bobbleheads to the first 10,000 in attendance. If that's not worth getting there early, I don't know what is! Gonna be at this entire Sox/Yanks series (Fri-Sun)....which begs the question, anyone have any clue what the hell it's like to go to an entire series? I've never done it due to several things (mostly lack of funds) but I'm sure some of you have. Either way I don't think I could have picked a better one with the finale being the retiring of my childhood hero's number. I'm guessing I get drunk and enjoy beating the Yanks on Friday and Sat and then just enjoy the ceremony (and probably cry like a girl) on Sunday.
  13. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) Welp...that's pretty much par for the course for Becks this year Meanwhile, J. Dizzle takes care of business and we win this game 5-1. Not far off!! DANKS > Felix the cat
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Beckham is 4 for his last 19 for a .211 BA. Welp...that's pretty much par for the course for Becks this year Meanwhile, J. Dizzle takes care of business and we win this game 5-1.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) The Gold Glove should have died to everyone in 1999 when Palmiero won it by playing 28 games at 1B and 128 games at DH. This just made me REALLY angry. I guess it's a well known fact....something needs to be done.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) The Upper Deck is just fine to watch a game, not sure why some people have a problem with it. The only downside to it is that unless you have season tickets you don't have access to the lower concourse and what not. Exactly. For me, that is a HUGE downside to buying UD tickets. I just don't get it, the concourse has plently of space to allow for the UD fans to come down and walk around. It's not like they'd be spending the whole game down there, at some point you want to return to YOUR seat and watch the game....or else I'd hope you would.
  17. Take her to the Sox/A's game this Friday because I will be in town for it!! QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) As a matter of fact it is mullet night and my cousin's band Hairbangers Ball is playing. I picked up some sweet tickets last night. I'll be there for some Mullet action too...planning on checking out Hairbangers Ball as well. They any good? Also, I'm taking 2 Sox fans who have never been, along with my girl. I plan to check out the new beer garden, head to the BP bar for some pregame, then educate them in centerfield (great suggestions in this thread).....then we're gonna strap it down (no matter what Darren Jackson says) and watch a White Sox winner and some post game Mullet style fireworks!!
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Isn't it ironic how probably the worst 1B in all of baseball, in terms of defense, could easily end up being our 1B next season (Dunn) This makes me sick to think about. Paulie needs to stick around. When he goes it's gonna be a sad, sad day in my world.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) I like Hawk. He's been a great part of my White Sox fanhood and he’s an integral part of the White Sox brand, but the guy gets on my nerves. He’s more invested in being folksy and hyper-critical then actually calling the ballgame. That’s my biggest complaint. Couldn't have said it better myself
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) f*** you Danks. You suck. LOL...welcome to Soxtalk
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Can you imagine this team with a DH? I just did. Had to change my pants. LOL....the idea of Beckham being back has me half mast
  22. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) The 3-hole hitter does get a guaranteed 1st inning PA, but often it's with 2 outs and nobody on. But more importantly, I'm really excited that real baseball's back. Very true...but if that's the case your 4 hitter is leading off an inning at least once a game, and I don't think that's what you want either. And yes, I'm just happy to have White Sox baseball back!!!
  23. I see your point chw42, but I have to say.... QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) This is just stupid logic. Yeah, odds are your 4 and 5 hitters will wind up batting with the most runners on, but they also bat behind the 3 hole hitter (and 4 hole for the 5th hitter). Your best 2 hitters should be 3 and 4, where they get the most AB's possible. Its the duty of the 1 and 2 guys to get on base. Why wouldn't you guarantee one of your best hitters an AB in the first inning? This ^
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) No Morneau. Somebody should really tell Gardenhire that Cuddyer is not a good guy to put in the clean-up spot. That's the spot for your best hitter. I think the 3 hole is where you should put your best all around hitter...cleanup should be your biggest masher. Of course, it all depends on chemistry Either way...let's get this win, keep winning these series' and ride this sh@# to the end!
  25. MB wins his first 7 starts after the break. Jenks finishes with 35 saves. Thorton dominates and puts to rest all the arm slot BS. Beckham finishes with 30 doubles....and the Tank with 20. Hawk falls from the booth after a ridiculous HELL YES call in the WS. We win the pennant by 6 games.
