  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Game at 6:07 on CSN Hopefully that "other" thread didn't F with the mojo!! I think I'm starting to like this idea.....Flamero, lol. LET'S GO GAVIN!!
  2. "as soon as me contact"....lol I need sleep as soon as he swung...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Hawk was fooled on that one! that's what I was thinking....as soon as me contact I knew it from the overhead view they were giving on CSN
  4. Peavy doesn't have his hook and the Jays are locked in. Simple as that. He's not changing speeds (nevermind the velocity) and he's not effective outside the zone...or "effectively wild". I think he's the type of guy that even when he has an off day he's still going to consistenly be around the plate. Come on 20...
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) I doubt we see much of Nix until someone on the IF gets hurt. Especially as a starter. Obv you've forgotten who makes the lineup for this team (not b**@# about it...just saying). Nix will get a start sooner than later I'm guessing.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) I have seen the future, and in 16 hours the Sox will be up 3-0 in the first inning on a 3 -run homer by Alex Rios. ^^^^^ Pretty close
  7. QUOTE (Ultimate Warrior @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) Son of a b****.... Awesome.
  8. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) I got your autograph when I was 10 years old and you spelled my name "Chirs". I will never get over it. And I rode on a plane like 3 rows away from you on the way to TX when I was like 8! Barely recognized you except for the white leather boots with the tassles that you were wearing with your "business" suit!
  9. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Brian Anderson has a better shot to have a successful career as a baseball analyst on one of the networks. He is a pretty funny and charasmatic guy. True, he will be next to Singleton with ESPN before you know it! BTW, your avatar is far and away the best in all of PHT.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) This story depresses me for some reason. I guess it has a lot to do with me watching highlights of the blackout game and seeing BA finish it off with the diving catch in center. It's a damn shame he could never put it together. ^^^^ I second that, hell of a defensive centerfielder and a ladies man!
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) How? Aside from May his OPS's for each month were .728, .670, .663, .604, .553. The .728 is the only one that's not awful (I'd categorize it as bad) and that's made up by my calling a .553 OPS "awful" rather than something much, much stronger. I think by saying "that is a huge stretch" 2k5 was in agreement with your comment. As in a 5 month "slump" is a long stretch of time for Rios or anyone else in a Major League uniform.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 02:54 AM) Well he talks about how the Cubs have produced next to nothing homegrown since Mark Grace. We're not exactly spittin' out homegrown talent either. Our first round picks from 2000-2006 were Joe Borchard, Kris Honel, Royce Ring, Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Lance Broadway and Kyle McCulloch. That's not bad. That's just embarrassing. Yeah, we drafted Beckham. Took a 90 loss season (but at least we picked a good year to suck, as the '08 draft has a chance to be one of the best in years). But we're certainly in no position to be mocking the Cubs as far as player development goes. We're headed in the right direction, though. We're always in a position to mock the Cubs.
  13. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) /thread Best post ever
  14. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) From what I understand, Jenks professed his faith in (not what the article calls..."religion") put professed his faith in Christ as his Savior. I know that Linebrink and also Josh Fields openly professed to be "born-again" Christians as well. When you accept and profess Christ as your Savior....you'll want to do the best that you can to be a representative of Him in all aspects of your life. It's probably why he sees and desires things a lot different now. Unfortunately....... the media usually won't write or print that. They'll water it down and say that they found "religion". Too funny that this happened to be your 666th post!
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) Wait we don't? And you do? Wow, you learn something new every day. Where have you been all my life? Screw, my opinions, screw the pundits, screw the stats, things are going to work out regardless, of whether it's likely or not. Your logic is flawless. No, everyone's intitled to an opinion. I just get so sick of the negativity on here. I mean, I know that's what this site is famous for but this is the time of year for optimism.... not the time to cry about that fact that we didn't land the best left handed hitter in baseball. Rios is king, Kotsay is clutch, and Q and Konerko will be back with monster numbers. At least that's what I've figured out by using my flawless logic.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) Plain and simply, this is not a good offense. They'll score a few runs, because there's still some power and some good hitters in the lineup, but I think the only slam dunk for a hitter that is going to have a good season is Beckham. Pierzynski and Konerko are both a year older, Quentin, Ramirez, and Teahen were all mediocre last year, Rios is coming off of a horrendous season, Pierre has never been a great hitter to begin with, and I don't think anyone knows what can be expected out of Kotsay and Jones at this point. As of this moment, there's a lot that can go right with this squad, but there's a lot that can go wrong. With the rotation they have, I'd say they can't lose 90 games, and as such, I think the worst they can probably do is 74 wins, and I'd say the absolute best is around 100 wins (and thats with virtually everything going according to plan). I'm expecting anywhere between 84-88 wins with the current roster. You guys have no clue what this offense is capable of. Are we going to rip through the league?? No. Do we still play in a hitter friendly park against a division that is sub par? Yes. These guys are major league baseball players....they will figure out a way to produce without the almighty A-Gon. Have some frickin faith!!
  17. Who cares about Damon, Andruw Jones is in the best shape of his life.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) How is that? I was sick as a dog from Thurs-Sun and did nothing but lay in bed and play Madden '10.
  19. I've been on Mars for the past few days....just caught word of this today. I don't even know what to say that hasn't been said already. No statue in centerfield....it needs to be bigger than that. I'm talking 50ft high in the middle of the Ryan on the way to the Cell. Frank Thomas was a man amongst children. I wish I could see a montage of early 90's manager's faces as he stepped into the on deck circle in a close ballgame. #35, you will always be the greatest hitter of all-time in my mind.
  20. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) In 1991 when Robin Ventura hit a game winning grand slam off of Goose Gossage to beat Texas. It's the game that Frank Thomas picked Ventura up over his shoulders at home plate and the rest of the guys jumped in and pounded him on the back and helmet. It was real emotion - not the choreographed helmet throw/jump up and down together thing that every team does now. We had a cousin visiting from England, and I don't think he was overly impressed with the game or the crowd compared to the English soccer crowds he was used to seeing. We were sitting in right field, not far from where the ball landed, and the place exploaded when it landed. That one moment definitely changed his opinion of baseball. He didn't stop talking about it the rest of his visit. Ditto....except the foreign kid part
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) Score? 3-0 Good guys
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) I haven't been reading the accounts of the games much lately, just skimming some. My question is whether the "E" word has been uttered yet and if and when somebody like Oz or the players will say they are embarrassed. What will it take for you the fan to be embarrassed on this trip? Would it be tonight's fourth loss to the Sox? Or an oh-fer in Boston and New York? When will you be embarrassed by the club? There's a difference from being mad and embarrassed. I'm not embarrassed yet, but we have pretty much laid over so far at 0-3 entering game 4 of the bataan death march. I was embarrassed after watching the Ortiz walk-off last night. F Boston. Win tonight and rip the Yankqueens a new one!
