Alex is Joey's younger brother.

It's hard to say...the several times I played against him he was the starting pitcher of Game 1 (we always played doubleheaders) and then most of the time sat Game 2 to rest his arm...although I believe he did sometimes move into the field for the second game. He was as dominant of a High School pitcher as I saw. He also doubled as CR Xavier's cleanup hitter and would just rake...launching some bombs. Real smooth, powerful swing from the left side. In High School he was a man playing among boys...I think the kid's got a real shot at being something special someday. All-in-all, to answer your question, I would say yeah they probably made the right move in moving him to the field. If you can harness that type of ability into a power hitter with a good average I would take the chance. That and again...this is the stuff our scouts are being payed to know...so I guess it is hard for me to second guess someone in that position.

The guy I'm key on seeing how he performs is Ryan Sweeney. I was campaigning for us to draft him at 15...extatic to see when we got him in the second round and signed him. I guess I might be a little biased...either that or more well informed at least about him...due to the fact that I faced him several times throughout high school. We were in the same conference for seasonal baseball play. So I guess if you want any info on him I could provide a little insight at least.

Now that my friends...is what we need!

He's good no doubt...but I don't even think he's the best young pitcher on his own team. A.J. Burnett is an absolute stud but unfortunately has been on the DL most of the year.
-
Hey he's the GM regardless of what you guys think of his involvement...if you're going to rip him when "his" deals go bad then you damn better give him credit when they go well.
-
I disagree...Konerko was the first one to jump all over Frank when he was struggling in 2002. If you recall he got on Frank's case after Hurt complained when he was benched for three days without being told. However, when Konerko was absolutely worthless earlier this year, all we heard was 'well its hard to improve when you're not playing every day'. He was killing this team...absolutely killing them early on...and all he could do was b**** about not getting enough time.

Yeah I've been just rediculously busy with school and all...I've been around reading posts here and there but haven't had much time to post lately...hopefully I'll get the chance a little more.
-
I can't stand him either...I've hated him for years. I said last offseason I would have traded him for Russ Ortiz and people jumped all over it. He's slower than s*** and a whiner. That's one of the top things I want to see this offseason is him gone.
-
Jack McKeon...he's got a litte Snoop Dogg in him.
-
I've met him before...and yeah...asshole is one of the words that fits nicely. He was decent when I met him, not friendly but not mean, but it was in the clubhouse of a Royals spring training game down in Florida some years back and he was just walking around b****ing and moaning and yelling at people. It was rediculous.

It seems like he has been hitting a home run every single night now...

Chicago White Sox 2003 Draft Thread (Day One)

WAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best pick imaginable...an absolute steal! I've played against this kid a couple times and he is a machine. WOW I couldn't be happier! -
That was hillarious...the guy is the anti-Manuel...I'd love him here.
-
They have all been signed/traded for within the last year.
-
Except for the fact that his s***ty play is killing the team every day...we can't afford to have his ass out there right now. Rotate Daubach and Frank between 1B and DH for the next week or so and see if he can work it out.

It was right after I watched that piece from ESPN that I posted this last night...the more I think about it, the better I like the idea.

about this scenario. Assuming Willie Harris is hurt for an extended period of time, or simply unable to produce this year...what would you guys think about adding Ricky Henderson to our team. He may not be able to man CF anymore, but if Maggs can play there, Ricky can certainly handle RF. I know he's 44 years old, and I know he has a poor clubhouse rep (although I'm not sure I believe it), but I think he could do some great things for our team. There isn't a better competitor in the game, and the work and determination that he's showing to still be doing things at his age might really have an affect on some of our young guys. He's tearing up the Independant League he's playing in right now and I think that by the middle of the year he's gonna get a shot with some big league team. We need help on the bases BADLY...and who better to get it from than the master of OBP himself. Just a thought...what do you guys think?

Who is starting for us tonight? It was scheduled to be Colon, but on the radio it just said that Colon will open up the Twins series tomorrow night in MN...who would go tonight then?
-
I caught for probably the good part of 15 years and way back in little league...since the Sox were my favorite team...they always called me Officer...hence the OfficerKarkovice.

As long as you're facing a right handed pitcher who can't throw a curveball...then maybe yeah.
-
...why everyone thinks that we should get rid of Big Frank??? He has probably been our best hitter so far this year...with the possible exception of D'Angelo (who people also want to axe). We get rid of Frank and we're lucky to score 2 runs a game. The guy is making less money than Maggs, Konerko (which is a f***ing joke), and about the same as Valentin (an ever bigger joke)...we need this guy in the lineup.

Unless we can snag some good prospects for Konerko and then ship them to KC...you know they would rather have good young talent that they won't have to pay for a long time.
