  1. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) Essentially Guillen does not want to have a guy that when they play those 12 games in the NL park, they are unavaialble. What Guillen wants are platoon type guys that he can use for certain matchups. This works well in this division as I have seen enough of the Cy Youngification of s*** pitchers. I think something is going to happen and it is going to be related to John Danks and his contract situation. Would you guys be okay with losing the Danks brothers if it meant landing Adrian Gonzalez?
  2. David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells David Wells BIG MOUTH FAT FREAKING TUB OF LARD DAVID WELLS! Billy Koch Todd Ritchie Oh yeah and Rick >cough scott linebrink White...
  3. QUOTE (cornball @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) Where the club is right now after the JP trade, Kenny definately will add a power lefty bat. I am guessing Delgato on a low base incentive deal. Doesn't feel right to gut the farm right now for AGonn or Dunn although they would be welcome additions. Delgato is coming off of hip sugury and is supposed to be playing winterball. Dunn is in the last year of his contract, isn't he? I certainly wouldn't gut the farm for him then. I could see him wanting to stay here if we trade for him and win the World Series though.
  4. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) Quentin replaces Dye in RF. That's an upgrade, *if* TCQ is healthy. Andruw Jones replaces Dewayne Wise as a bench outfielder. That's an upgrade. Kotsay replaces Brian Anderson as a bench outfielder. Upgrade. Juan Pierre replaces Pods as a starting outfielder (RF). That should be a small upgrade. Rios replaces the centerfielder-of-the-month that we've had since Rowand left. Upgrade. Vizquel replaces Brent Lillibridge as backup infielder. Need I say more. Peavy + Garcia replace Contreras + Colon in the rotation. Major upgrade. Putz joins the pen, replacing someone. Upgrade, if Putz is healthy. The only area that's gotten weaker is DH, with the rotating-DH likely producing less output than Thome. I think Kenny is having a good offseason / late season of 2009. This post made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside... or maybe it was that chick in that pic throwing those tshirts??
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) Who did KW deal for in 2006 only to have it turned down at the last moment? That's right, our DH next year is Soriano. ALFONSO Soriano? HAHAHAHA!!!!! No. Well, unless the cubs wanted to send a bazillion dollars with him to cover his contract. But then doesn't he have a no trade clause? Well he would turn it down because he thinks he can still play in the outfield. Heck, I bet he still thinks he can play 2nd base!
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) K's per years since 2002: 170, 126, 195, 168, 194, 165, 164, 177 But to be fair, he does walk over 100 times a year, but has a career BA of .249 Yeah I looked at that right after my last post. Yuck. He'll kill a lot of rallies...
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) Someone else mentioned it earlier, but Adam Dunn wouldn't completely surprise me You know... you might be on to something. Whenever I heard Adam Dunn's name mentioned, I thought "just another aging slugger", but he's actually not that old (just turned 31). And the guy consistently hits 40 bombs from the left. I'm down... Get it done.... or DUNN. (I know, that was bad).
  8. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) The B&B Show are going to rip this trade to shreds. Berstein is a tool when he's not being funny....
  9. Good God... I hate to beat a dead horse (especially this one) but if we somehow land Adrian Gonzalez, it... will... be... ON!!!
  10. Now if we come up on a power bat.... things will get VEEEERY interesting around here!
  11. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) I think Winn could come close to matching Upton's offensive upside .300/.350. And he wouldn't cost our two best prospects. He'd be a stop gap until Danks or Mitchell are ready. How is Winn in the field? Isn't he injury prone?
  12. Matsui gone. I'm starting to think that we'd be LUCKY to get Thome and Pods back. Maybe we should start the "trade all the veterans for prospects" talk that we hear towards the end of the season when we suck. Yeah that or the "let the kids play!" talk. Somebody talk me off a ledge and tell me why the Sox offense isn't going to make me wanna shoot my tv next year...
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) If this team gets into the playoffs they have a damn good shot at winning it all, I don't give a s*** how man games we win, if the pitching holds up and we get into the playoffs I'll be pleased. This isn't the NBA we're talking about, if you're one of the 8 teams lucky enough to still be playing baseball in mid-October you have a shot at making a run especially if the top of your starting rotation is especially strong. Oh yeah?? With that line up? Here's your 2010 ALDS breakdown: Game 1 Yanks 1 Sox 0 WP: Sabathia LP: Peavy Headline - PEAVY PITCHES 3 HIT GEM IN LOSING EFFORT Game 2 Yanks 2 Sox 1 WP: Burnett LP: Buehrle Headline - BUEHRLE DOMINANT, ONLY TO BE LET DOWN BY SOX OFFENSE Game 3 Yanks 1 Sox 0 WP: Petitte LP: Linebrink Headline - DANKS FIRES 9 SHUTOUT INNINGS - SOX ELIMINATED IN 10TH. Game over, series over. The yankees win... thaaaaaa yankees win!
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) I have a gut feeling we're gonna end up with Podsednik in LF and Thome in DH This is what I've been saying all along. 88 wins and first round exit, here we come!
  15. LOL when I think of Lidge, I think of McCarver saying that the bad taste of that Albert Pujols NLCS bomb is just about gone... "I don't think that taste is there." is what he said. Then Scotty Pods takes him deep to walk him off. McCarver: "The taste is back again".... HAHAHAHA classic!
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) People keep posting this, but Ozzie is the one who mentioned it and he doesn't acquire the players, so we don't really know if that is the case. Plus didn't Ozzie call DJ Carrasco the team MVP? I'm not sure Ozzie is in the loop when it comes to aquisitions.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) And Dayan is waiting in the wings. Dayan is going to be Big Papi re incarnated... Wait... the GOOD Big Papi... not the one that sucked last year.
  18. They still suck. I wonder what the Angels are thinking though. Their ace is going to their playoff arch rival.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) What did he say? He said something about the White Sox having interest in him and how he thinks that Pierre is BAD with no arm and a little speed. He was blabbering about how Pierre was bad before he came to the Cubs and how he had 2 good weeks last year when Man Ram was suspended. Bernsie is a tool.
  20. Bernstein is talking about Juan Pierre right now on the Score...
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Are you starting a baseball team? No. Not yet. When I get dirty rotten filthy stinking rich I'm going to bring an MLB team to Portland, but that's a whole other story Naw seriously though... I wonder if scouts for the White Sox are taking a close look at anyone over there. Hey, that's how we found Tadahito Iguchi, right??
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) Welcome to the boards Mr Cowley And please leave that d-bag mask you've been wearing at the front door. And wipe your feet before you come in. Please.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) We're running out of options. Freaking right we are... I'm getting desperate. I'm starting to scour the Japanese league for lead off hitters and power hitters. Maybe we can find a poor mans Ichiro.
