QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Some of us don't live in the state of Illinois. Where's the happy feelings for us? NFL network. I live in Vegas so the Sunday Sox game is blacked out for me.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) I can't believe we don't get TV tomorrow But we do get the first Bears preseason game, so it kindof offsets.

Contreras picking up Alexei, How many times have we said anything like that for Contreras all season?
-
Orton - 3 drives, 3 interceptions. God Im glad this guy is gone.
-
Orton with his second interception LOL, sorry guys Im watching both games..
-
Whens the last time 2 players hit for the cycle on the same night? Felix Pie LOL got one earlier and Bacon will in this game.
-
Anyone think Bacon can hit for the cycle tonight? He's halfway there. Side note: Orton just thre a horrible pass that got intercepted. The Orton era begins.

Castro 2 run Bomb! Sox 4-0 Yessssssssssssss!
-
Seems dead on here today, anyways Contreras has a good inning. Its all about Castro catching him.

Force them to pay the 1 million $ buyout next year, give them Whisler and Torres. Clear an extra roster spot on our end. I think it would be worth the risk for our Sox.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Are the Mets really in a bad position financially? I mean, if there's a team out there that should be able to say "We'll pick up a portion of the salary but we want a legit future reliever in return" shouldn't that be a team that just opened a new stadium in NYC? Yea, but you gotta remember that Wagner has been on the DL for awhile and many teams might see him as a health risk. The Mets have alot of holes to fill for next year and 2.75 million in relief would help a little.
-
I dont think the Mets will want anything of value, just salary relief.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) 2 year deal, not sure of the money. Odd signing. 1st year - 1.6 million, 2nd year 5.0 million team option. Seems like alot to me.

QUOTE (GordoTheGreat @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Well, he put Line®brink over Dotel, why would he put in Dotel over Pena? Probably because he thought Dotel would be the better man to close the game if we did score in the next top half, so Pena was next in line.

SEATTLE - Ken Williams has been very upfront in addressing the concerns his players may have about their future with the White Sox beyond this season in the wake of more than $115 million in salary being brought in the last two weeks with the additions of Jake Peavy and Alex Rios. "I don't know that we need to focus on anything right now other than winning,'' the Sox general manager said on Monday. "That's the idea - to win right now. I tell you this, there's a lot better chance of guys sticking around and our abilities to be able to make this work for everyone if we win. I have a tendency to get rid of people when we don't win. It's in everyone's best interest that we focus at the task at hand and you worry about that after the fact.'' That's not a problem for A.J. Pierzynski, considering the catcher wakes up in the morning already thinking about a way to beat that evening's opponent, but even Pierzynski admitted that it's only human nature to at least be somewhat concerned about 2010 and beyond. Especially for a guy like Pierzynski who wants to finish his career on the South Side. "Obviously I want to stay here, and I think everyone here knows I want to stay - [board chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] to [manager] Ozzie [Guillen] to Kenny, I have no reason to want to leave here at all. I've had good times here, great people, great organization, so I can't complain at all. "At the same time it is baseball and things are out of my control. I've been traded before, I've been released, I've been through it. It's not something I look at right now and say, 'Oh, is this going to happen?' We'll see. I'm under contract for one more year. Obviously, if they want to trade me, they're not just going to let me walk, they'll trade me, and I can't say anything to change their mind. All I can do is go out and play as best I can and see what happens.'' The "through it'' Pierzynski was referring to was being the odd-man out from a team that had a younger, and at the time cheaper, catching option. When Joe Mauer was drafted by the Twins, Pierzynski knew his days were numbered. The Sox acquired Tyler Flowers in the offseason, and the youngster continues to at least show he can hit on every minor-league level, entering Wednesday's game with a .300 average with Class AAA Charlotte. "Like I said back in Minnesota when they Mauer, hopefully there's a team out there that still wants me and I can go play somewhere else if the White Sox don't want me anymore,'' Pierzynski added. "But again, that's not in my control.'' http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2009/08...ts_to_stay.html

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have traded infielder Andy Cannizaro to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations. The Indians announced Thursday that Cannizaro will be assigned to Charlotte, Chicago's Triple-A affiliate. He was batting .269 with one homer and 19 RBI in 50 games at Triple-A Columbus. Cannizaro, 30, was selected by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2001 draft. He has also played with the Tampa Bay organization. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/12061291/rss

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) Griffey wanted C&C Music Factory. Seattle declined. I thought he asked for Barbie girl. Oh well.

Well, this looks like the end.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) I'm not sure there is a way. Even at the sports books it usually isn't on, unless you catch it on a little monitor they sometimes show it on. I just barely figured out how to watch them when they play the Angels...I didn't realize you could find them on the LA FSN channel on regular cable. I think maybe you can order all the FSN channels through cable somehow. You could probably get it that way. Yea, I tried to go to some places, but the games with Oak are blacked out. I dont think there is a way to get those games with Oakland thru cable, but I may try to call and see if they can tomorrow.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) Ahh, I've been there before. I live on the north end of the Strip, just north of Circus Circus. Hey, how do u watch Sox games when they are playing Oakland?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) I think the initial reaction to the Cutler deal may have been the way you describe it, but I guarantee you now that we are far away from the draft, most people think it was a good deal for the Bears. I'm out here in Vegas, and I can tell you people out here like the deal for the Bears, that's for certain. I agree. Alot of people out here in Vegas love the Bears. The only problem here is u have to get up early for a 10AM game, but its no biggie. Where do u stay around in Vegas? Im near the Chicago bar and grill right off of Fort Apache and Sahara.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 06:57 PM) Out of context this quite sounds damning. In the interview, this quote wasn’t directed at anyone in particular. It was an overall declaration about the state of the team. LOL Well, he said Sundays game ruffled his feathers, and Contreras pitched a lousy one again that day, so I assumed it was meant directly for Contreras. In the interview, he went on to say that the older guys need rest - Dye, Thome, Pods, even Quentin, but Sundays game really got on his nerves. Contreras has to be who he meant.
-
I thought Kenny was talking about Contreras ruffling his feathers.
-
Does anyone know if Rios is playing tonight?
-
But I like the Rios waiver claim the most. He will help tremendously.
