Not gonna lie. I don't love the fact that the Rays aren't into Roch. I also don't love the idea of Roch trying to direct where he goes. Both red flags to me.

Via the Over-Slot podcast regarding the draft/mock with Joe Doyle. - Has been told by multiple MLB front offices over and over that the scouting and analytic portion of the White Sox front office prefers Emerson to Roch. - Less conclusive on who Getz prefers. Has heard that he prefers Roch from some folks, while others have heard he is in love with Grady. - Thinks the White Sox view Grady internally as a better player than Roch. If he has a fair signing bonus ask that beats Roch, most of the organization would take Grady. - Circles back to the time-frame. Roch will be a fast mover. Will be marketable. Will sell Jerseys. - As mentioned in the Mock I posted, has Grady as 55% the selection with Roch 45%. No talk on Lackey being in the mix at all. - Rays aren't in on Roch. He is not the guy their scouts or analytics department prefer at all. - Heard reports that Roch told the Twins he doesn't want to sign with them at 3. Would the Twins pick him regardless? - Tyler Bell didn't turn in his medicals at the combine. Can still do it up until the draft. If he does, the team has to offer the player 75% of slot value. - Joe posits the Rays taking Bell for around 5.5 million, then snapping up one of the hard Stanford signs. IE Archer Horn or Tyler Spangler. Those are 4 to 5 million guys as well. - Zion Rose has mega helium. Might go in the top 15. Good blend of floor and ceiling in a class that is largely lacking in upside.

Bell declined to share medicals at the combine. And perhaps you can negotiate lower if both sides agree? I'm sure @Y2Jimmy0 knows.

With it sounding like Lackey isn't in the mix at all, I wonder if the Sox are just seeing which of Emerson/Roch will take less money to sign. Kind of unfortunate they share an agent though. All things being equal if I can pocket an extra million with Emerson who I already like slightly more than Cholowsky, easy decision for me. An aside, slamming Tyler Bell down at 1.1 would be crazy fun. He's a top 5 guy for me easy. Cut a deal for 6 to 6.5 million then go hog wild with the rest of the class? Good times. Sounds like the Rays are entertaining that exact scenario.

Anthony DePino is a guy I wouldn't be surprised if part of a trade package this deadline.

Eh. I think he will still factor in at some point. Clunkers happen and he's coming back from TJ. Just the lack of progress with key pitching prospects and no-one emerging on the starting pitching side is super disappointing.

Gabe Davis continues to struggle in AA. The pitching development in the minors this season has been truly dreadful.

For what it's worth I would be fine moving Carlson if his value was higher. There is a glut of middle infielders, and there will be another when they select Emerson or Roch in two weeks. I would absolutely trade him for some pitching but he didn't come out the gate hot and then he broke his thumb. I'd rather not sell low.

@Y2Jimmy0 I saw you post the Draftkings odds for 1st overall pick in the draft, but I for the life of me can't find it. Do you still see it available on the App? Wouldn't mind sprinkling some money on Emerson at +500 if it hasn't shifted.

Trading Fauske is not it. He's ascending in an area of need. I like him more than Carlson long-term. Might be prospect hugging, but I'd rather not trade Bonemer/Fauske/Carlson yet. We are a bit ahead of schedule on contention and I think you primarily focus on rentals/eating money at this point.

Not even close. Ranked 498 at BA (probably moving up after the Combine showing) and 236 at Over-Slot. This is a raw tooled up guy that's probably a corner OF with hit tool concerns. Someone to dream on though. It's a Padres draft pick if I've ever seen one.
