  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Drabek didn't qualify because of his time in the majors I believe. Correct. No longer a prospect. Lost rookie eligibility last season.
  2. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Some guy now says Beckham will also be traded to the Jays along with Floyd for McGuire, Drabek, Gose and Wojciechowski That would be fantastic. But I don't buy it.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) There were huge concerns about Drabek's off the field actions heading into the draft. Tons of rumors about bad stuff he was involved in. He was pretty good in the minors, but really struggled last year cause he tried to hard to develop a cutter. His control was brutal, but if you could get him and someone else for Floyd, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Much like Simon Castro, this is someone you couldn't have gotten last year. His makeup is questionable too. He kind of has a tendency to go Jake Peavy on the mound when he gets rattled. With the cursing, stomping around, and being outwardly upset. It then snowballs from there from what I saw last year.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) I like the idea of getting one good/solid safe prospect plus a failed top 30 prospect in all of baseball in Drabek. Drabek has some tools and I have faith in Coop. Same. Deck is a safe prospect who should be a 3 or 4, and Drabek depending on who you ask has a 1 or 2 ceiling. Though he has his issues currently.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) What about Noah Syndergaard? I'd rather have him than either Drabek or Deck Love him, but I believe the Jays do too and wouldn't include him in a potential Gio deal.
  6. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) I thought Drabek was good? Everyone kept talking about him when dealing with the Jays. He was the centerpiece of the Halladay trade. He had tons of hype, but at the same time certain people thought he was far overrated. He flopped big time in his major league trial last year. 6.06 ERA 1.81 WHIP 6.3 BB/9 5.8 SO/9 in 78 innings. He has potential, but he's developed some warts of late.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) Well, the good news is that McGuire looks like a very solid young arm. The bad news is that Drabek seems to be a failed prospect. However, both are under team control until at least 2018, I believe. Hopefully Coop can pull a "Gavin Floyd" on Drabek and turn around a failed Phillies top pitching prospect. Too early to call Drabek failed. But his stock certainly has dropped. He was dreadful last year. Has some makeup issues as well.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) Also, if the White Sox somehow got McGuire and Drabek for Floyd, that'd be a fleecing. Then again, I dislike G-Flo. Could be a fleecing. Drabek's stock has certainly dropped. Will have to see. I'm certainly a fan.
  9. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) Who really knows? If true, I love it.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) Well those are my demands, damnit! I wonder when they will trade Arencibia.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Floyd + Thornton for D'Arnaud + low level prospect. Do it. Not happening.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) They have a TON of young talent, their GM likes Kenny for his aggresiveness, they are interested in our players and have the money for a few of them. Of course there will be lots of dialogue and rumors between the two. Right now there aren't a whole lot of interested teams that have the money to pick up our players, so may as well focus on the ones who are willing to talk to you. Yep. With what the Jays have in that system, I have no problem with Kenny and Alex as trade partners.
  13. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) some fan broke the Zambrano trade 4 hours before Rosenthal reported it... Twitter is a nice source of inside info Yep. But it's a crap-shoot on knowing who actually isn't full of it.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) This is weird, nothing at all from MLBTR yet. That's because no one credible has mentioned anything yet. All we have is these 2 random twitter guys and Bucket. But with twitter people like K0na breaking news, who knows?
  15. No idea who this guy is, but: Straycats23 Hollywood Gavin Floyd close to being a Blue Jay. 36 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply Maybe it's someone reading this thread!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) Sox loved Asher during the draft scouting process. I'm not a huge fan of his, as his fastball has lost some velocity. I'd be fine with Deck, as finally we could get a GT guy to be a star after dealing with this bum from UGa at 2nd base. I'm not the biggest Asher fan either. I distinctly remember discussing him here and other places and how many people were vehemently opposed to the Sox drafting him. He fit the mold of a college arm with some upside who Kenny could have signed cheaply. Pretty good bullpen potential with his fastball/slider if the change never came along.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) So the Sox would trade Floyd for what they hope will be Floyd.....I understand the rebuild aspect but I think they need to improve upon the organization. They should have already gotten the back end rotation guys with the moves they made in the last 7 months. For 6 years of a cost controlled Floyd replacement, payroll savings, plus other prospect(s) is okay with me. Deck projects a bit better than a back-end type as well, and is a much safer bet to reach his ceiling then Castro/Molina. Let's not forget the bust rate of prospects. Stockpiling pitching is a good thing.
  18. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) Don't be suprised if a Jays package contains Adonis Cardona. Deck plus Cardona would be great. Cardona gives you the projectable high upside power arm to go with the safer and closer McGuire. The Sox system desperately needs both types of player.
  19. Actually posted about Floyd for Deck+ yesterday. Was a big fan of his in the 2010 draft. He's not some super sexy high ceiling starter, but he's got a workhorse body and 3 useful pitches. He's a middle of the rotation type and a pretty safe bet to stick. I like my toolsy high upside prospects, but a system also needs safer high floor picks like Deck to balance it out. I hope something gets done.
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) I really hope KW deals Thorton soon! I hope Floyd goes too. Send him to the Jays for Deck McGuire and other pieces.
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) Logan Morrison @LoMoMarlins Following I really hope Ozzies on-field instructions r easier 2 understand than his tweets. I literally have no idea what this dude is talking about.. 22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) Soxtalk at it again. Treating one of our very own like a cheap prostitute. 2005, anyone? Go, JD. I'll always be thankful for you ending our 95-year title drought. Nice.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) Well f*** JD too then. He can just go play with his current team...oh wait, no one wanted him. Pretty much. Continuing to act like a petulant child, just as he did during free agency.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) If they sign Cespedes...I kinda hope he starts at Charlotte...both because I want to see De Aza play, and because I hate seeing them do things like they did with Alexei...where he basically sat on the bench in April 08 because he was struggling and they had other guys who weren't. I hope he would start in the minors as well. Most scouts are of the opinion he needs some minor league time, which concurrently would allow him to acclimate to the new culture.
  25. Somewhere in between. A solid regular who might make an all-star game or two during his career.
