  1. I just reviewed the trading history of Montas. We got him from Boston in the Jeff Peavey deal. No problem there. Then, we gave him to Dodgers in the Todd Frazier acquisition (3 way deal). Not a good trade. Bassitt, of course, wet to A's as part of the Shark fiasco, along with Semian et al. Now they are both facing us in the same series. That's baseball.
  2. For an instant, Timmy might have been the happiest man on Earth.
  3. Hope you're right, because he seems like a great kid, but he hasn't had a really good year for a while, and with the emergence of Vaughn, Sheets, and Burger in the outfield, plus Micker and Cespedes and hopefully Colas, I don't see him ever again getting onto the Big Club here.
  4. And, they realized he has no future with White Sox.
  5. The double play from Monday's game was impressive. Fast hands, looked like Mazerowski.
  6. Heuer goes to Cubs and start throwing strikes. With Sox, he thought strike zone was a foot outside. Still love the trades, however.
  7. I think Ty Madrigal is one and done.
  8. I still remember reading an article on OV years ago, prob in the 90's when he was a really good player....and the article was about players getting lucky on the road. Really enlightening stuff. Anyway, I read it and it listed some of the players who were most successful at it, and, yes, Omar led the league, and it wasn't close. This is something I would never think about commenting until I read this thread, but I never wanted him to be Sox manager, which at one time was a possibility.
  9. I thought the same thing during the 8th. Why is Lopez, who couldn't get anyone out in AAA, pitching with two rested stud relievers left in the bullpen. Lopez gives up what turned out to be the winning run.
  10. Not Engel's best game. Two tough plays that he missed, 0 for at the plate.
  11. He should have stepped out of the box. Pitcher took forever to pitch it, Vaughn had to stand there forever before he swung.
  12. Guy hit a knuckle ball. Round bat meets round ball, and if it is perfectly squared up, you can get a knuckler.
  13. cub fans have been that way for decades.
  14. C'mon, man, you know what I meant. We scored once, got 4 hits, lost by 8. He would not have helped.
  15. Not sure why Mets would give up a Number 1 draft pick from last year.... Just 19 years old.
  16. Jeff Passan had good article on Cubs earlier this week, talking about the long term plan to trade the 3 stars last week and build up the prospect list.
  17. What scares me is what percentage of MLB games have I watched? More than Tony has managed, I assure you.
  18. On the brighter side, this team is due for a genuine Hot Streak.
  19. Theo Denlinger, recipient of a $10,000 bonus, gets promoted real quickly.
