Bummer and Rodon return, Detwiler and Not going to Cishek anymore DFAd
Does that mean Ruiz is gone?

9/22 - White Sox @ Cleveland: Lopez vs Quantrill
That's a big jump from not liking a new rule, which was put in there to avoid really long extra inning games, to cancelling the season altogether. I don't think the MLBPA would like you.

Will EE ever get going?
EE and Mazara are almost certain to be gone next year. Both pluses. Dyson, too. Another plus. We'll probably lose our best all around catcher. A negative. Now it looks as if Collins and Vaughn will be added. My hope is that they can figure out a way to get Yermin on the roster. Get another outfielder somewhere. Looks easy.

Sox @ Reds GT 9/19/20
Denigrating the Chinese Government for what they did is not the same thing as denigrating Chinese people.

Shields was through before Hahn acquired him. He couldn't get anyone out in San Diego. So, Preller called Hahn. The rest is history.

Nick Madrigal
Sorry, I still don't by WAR and fWAR as be all end all. My question is whether or not Nick gets those stats reduced because he was thrown out twice on the bases. I don't know. If the answer is yes, then the stat is really flawed. He ran the bases properly, probably followed coach's signal, and they required perfect plays by defense, especially on the one at home against KC, I believe.

Jonathan Stiever Discussion Thread
Dunning, Heuer, and Stiever all in one year..... Plus the kid in CF. And two FA acquisitions in Yas and Keuchel. Wow.

How does that wear him out?

He can have one more start until Decision Day. If he pitches well again, it's not a very tough decision.

Sox vs Twins. 9/15 - 7:10
Yep. 2 years ago Rockies didn't want to give Lemehieu a QO, so he left for nothing and is now one of the best hitters in the game. Give him the QO, negotiate, see what happens.

Stone's Throwing of Shade at Ricky
If the game is on the line in the 9th inning of a big game against your main division rival late in the season, it's a lot more important than an early in the game situation against a team that is not such a threat. Great Managers have used defensive replacements for years, and I mentioned two cases above where managers went against that rule of thumb, and it bit them in the ass.

Stone's Throwing of Shade at Ricky
Makes no difference. All it takes is one.

Stone's Throwing of Shade at Ricky
That's what the Boston Manager said when he left Buckner in at first base in World Series vs Mets. That's what Cubs Manager said when he left Durham in at first base. "I don't need a defensive replacement, because they'll never hit the ball to my slug. What are the odds?"

Sox important team stat ranks 2020
A great closer like Colome covers a multitude of sins. If you switch our guy with someone like Wade Davis, see what happens.

Or Jim Derrington. Same deal.- Sox vs Tigers. 9/12 - 6:10
Angel is at third. Nic Lendz at home plate.- Sox playoff chances sit at 100%, 3rd in AL for WS odds
It's just a question, Southsider, just a simple question. And, you want to see masked baseball players spraying champagne on teammates after 27 different games? That makes you sound very young and easily entertained.- The George Springer Paradox
Geez, his pre-Covid salary is $21Million. I hope his agent does not have Hahn's phone number.- Sox playoff chances sit at 100%, 3rd in AL for WS odds
In this Age of Covid, will the players on playoff teams continue the silly ritual of champagne showers in the clubhouses after playoff clinching wins? They were stupid last year, and will be dumber this year if continued, IMO. With the current playoff structure, that means there will be a total of 27, count 'em, 27 champagne showers, if they are allowed.- White Sox @ Pirates - 9/8/20 - 6:05 CT
I don't understand your reference to Colome here. However, he usually pitches the 9th, even when score is tied. Good post by SSHM.- RR
