QUOTE (balfanman @ May 24, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) This is true of the left, not the right. I do not want to go political here, but I do not appreciate this comment in these forums. I don't post often, but I read these forums most everyday. Uninformed comments like this tick me off and have no place here. I come here for Sox discussion, not politics. Mods are exempt

5/23 Games
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) He was drafted before that start and the wind was at 4 mph. I think you are correct on that. Nice catch. I was just kidding on the "wind" comment.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) 4 homers allowed by Fulmer. His season stats went mediocre quickly. Stuff has just deteriorated from college. Sox signed Fulmer partly because of a great playoff start -- his last college start. Maybe the wind was blowing out tonight.

Luis Robert signing official
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:20 AM) Looking at Sox international pool for the 2016/2017 Period, they were close to spending it all. They started with $2,973,500. Traded for $756,300. That gives them a total of $3,729,500. They signed Josue Guerrero ($1.1), Mieses ($428K), Comas ($425K), Carabello ($350K), and Sosa ($325K) and 20 players total. They are probably close to $1 million under their pool. If Luis Robert gets $27 million, then the Sox pax taxes on $26 million of it for a total of $53 million. Jeff Passan told Spiegel and Parkins that NL teams were telling him on Saturday that Sox were trying to trade for international bonus slots. It'll be interesting to see if they can get more and lessen the tax load. They have until June 15th to do so. Let me get this straight, JImmy. You're saying Sox have signed 20 international guys in 2016-17?

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 21, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Strasburg pitched today. Scherzer pitched yesterday and only went 5 because of a 2 hour rain delay You're right, Ky. The Seattle announcer on the baseball package said Scherzer was pulled. Tks.

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 21, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Especially for someone that isn't an uber prospect like Moncada, I agree. as the Correct. Super 2 importance rises with higher rated prospects like Bryant, Moncada.

Sign Avi to a long term contract?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2017 -> 06:03 AM) It looked like Avi was starting to get back to the Avi we have known a couple of weeks ago, but he has picked it up again. At what point is this real? Or is it still the mirage it has been in the past? 40 games and he has numbers Frank Thomas in his prime would be thrilled with. Fangraphs has stopped their bashing, nowhave gone radio silent about him. Could Hawk have been right? he really has been incredible this year. I was at the game early Saturday and when Gene Honda was going through the line up, Avi received the loudest applause. Not bad for a guy who the team obviously held out of Soxfest because he was booed there a year earlier. I still have trouble with that one -- booing him at SoxFest.

QUOTE (SouthSide2004 @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) This is an absolutely terrible way to look at this. The Sale deal has nothing to do with this signing. Would not be surprised if Moncada helped recruit Robert.

5/19 Games
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) The Trey M. Era over before it started. Demoted to WS. That was supposedly one of their scouting coups. Nash and Bueno moved to BIRM to shore up that putrid offense. 13-28. And, he went 0 for 5. Frustrating.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) Compared to Chicago, much hotter and very humid where I live, which is Wuhan, a city larger than a Chicago you've never heard of. In fact, we have two skyscrapers going up at 95 and 86 stories to rival Willits and Hancock. The Chicago skyscrapers wont be empty, though.

Tommy Kahnle
I always wondered why Hawkins was included in the Tulo trade with Toronto. He already had announced that was his final season. He wasn't any good any more. But he was Kahnle's teammate....

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Not saying you thought we would, but no way we were getting anything for Gonzalez for gosh sakes. He's just another guy. Ditto Holland. Ditto Frazier. Ditto Melky. These guys are worth little to nothing. Nate Jones as well. He aint bringing anything useful folks. Unfortunately, you are right. Hopefully, Jones comes back.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) It doesn't make sense for the Mets. The Nats likely aren't going to need the help with how weak their division is. Was it just two years ago when Nats blew a big lead and fell out of playoffs? They should make a bullpen trade with someone.

The Yolmer-Moncada Predicament
QUOTE (FT35 @ May 17, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) The Henry Cotto-Ken Griffey Jr Predicament Henry has shown to be an above average fielder and his bat has been awesome this year. How does this impact what we do with Ken Griffey Jr? If Henry keeps it up, how can they move him? Maybe this will help shed some light on this situation?! : ) Henry Cotto. My memory of him is that a long time ago he was sitting on the bench, found a Q-Tip, was cleaning his ear, went too deep and punctured his ear drum, ending up on the DL.
