  1. Even if Sox lose rest of games, it is unlikely they can catch Philly.
  2. I just now heard the story from the Philadelphia announcer. Now I wonder what the kid's Visa status is/will be for next season. I hope he can stay here.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 2h2 hours ago Adam Eaton's 18 outfield assists, which lead majors, are most by a #WhiteSox OF since Minnie Minoso and Jim Landis had 19 each in 1955. Wrong again. Landis wasn't yet with Sox in 1955. His first full year was 1959; he came up for a few games the year or two before that.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) So for those who have TV access, that's 2 bad starts for Rodon in a row following his good stretch. Is there something serious here we should be worried about, or are we simply in "he's up against the innings number he threw last year and his arm his hitting a wall" territory? Is he still using the changeup he was featuring 2 weeks ago or has pitching style changed again? The K.C. announcers blamed the hot weather for Rodon's difficulties.
  5. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 18, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Yeah it was like that yesterday too. I like Benetti, but the combo of Hawk and Stone (when Hawk isn't in a depressed mood) is much more enjoyable IMO. They all talk too much. Except Vin Skully.
  6. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 05:17 AM) All of our bullpen guys so if someone goes down next year we know the order with which AAA relievers should be recalled. No reason to pitch our starters 110+ pitches in September with the season lost. Disagree. 110 pitches is a lot for some pitchers, not so much for others. Sale is in the second category. He still had his stuff in the 9th, maybe control off a bit, but he was still competing; he clearly wanted to stay in and finish the game, so let him and not risk a bullpen guy giving it up.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) Doesn't really make sense for the Dodgers. They don't need another highly paid often injured sort of not bad outfielder Disagree. I think Braun would look great in LA next year. Ethier and Reddick will be gone. Braun can still rake, and he is very serviceable in LF. They can afford him. Look at his stats for this year. He hits, period.
  8. ESPN is floating the rumor of a possible Puig/Braun trade.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 04:35 AM) A lot of people here are projecting Saladino at 2.5+, we'll just have to wait and see on that. I don't think you'll see them going after Kenley J. or Chapman because they'll trade Robertson and move Burdi or Jones into that role to save money or possibly keep all three (definitely won't add another from outside)...of course, as mentioned above, any entire team can fray with one loose end in the bullpen. That 7th inning bridge guy destroyed the Sox (Albers Putnam Petricka), and did the same to the Royals (Hochevar injured, Soria ineffective). How they fix Shields is beyond anyone at this point...and how long they can go with him sinking the ship early before they turn to Fulmer, if he hasn't already been traded. Blackmon and Inciarte are 3-4 war players, so it's going to cost more than we can afford in prospects. Cespedes will either stay or get a cost prohibitive 3-4 year deal. Tilson will be the name we hear far too often. It's unfortunate, because both he and Avi will still be in the conversation and that will be depressing to suffer through all offseason. We'll also hear how acquiring Gordon and Upton wouldn't have gotten the team near the playoffs either. So best to do nothing and hope for the best, right? Which is true.
  10. Is Zangari back yet? What happened to him?
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) Year 1 Rebuilding Lineup 1B: Jose Abreu 2B: Yoan Moncada SS: Tim Anderson 3B: Matt Davidson LF: Jason Coats CF: Andrew Benintendi RF: Adam Eaton DH: Adam Lind C: Kevin Plawecki IF: Tyler Saladino OF: Charlie Tilson UT: Leury Garcia BC: Omar Narvaez Assumes Sale for Moncada/Benintendi/+ deal wet dream.
  12. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) Well, since you asked: 1) Fire Robin Ventura. 2) Hire a good manager. 3) Sign Yoenis Cespedes. 4) Sign Wilson Ramos. 5) Sign a 5th Starter (Iwakuma, Fister, Hellickson, Nova look like decent options). 6) Trade for Puig if the Dodgers truly are giving him away. Before anyone goes off about "this is unrealistic", remember that the thread title is "What should the Sox do this winter?" This is what I think they should do this winter, and sadly is in no way reflective of what I think they will do this winter. Cespedes and Ramos will cost two draft choices. If you sign one FA with a QO, you might as well sign two.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) I saw that yesterday. What a shame. I am sure he signs on with someone during the off season Signed with Tampa day or two ago.
  14. Sorry for jumping the gun on the playoffs. I got Billings and Missoula mixed up.
  15. The Voyagers are three games into their series with Missoula, leading 2 games to 1. They played a double header yesterday, winning first game 1-0 and losing second game 9-3. Chris Comito threw a 2 hit shutout with Mitch Roman getting the lone RBI. In the nightcap, both Fisher and Silverio went 2 for 3, with 5 pitchers giving up a total of 9 hits and 6 walks. I believe they play again tonight.
  16. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Jose starts finally producing when it doesn't matter and people keep calling me out? Too bad he couldn't do it back when it mattered. I'll reiterate what I've previously said. Jose isn't what we thought he was. The league adjusted to him after his rookie year. He is a mid-tier first baseman. MLB Network had him ranked around 4-5 among all first basemen pre season, IIRC. He'll still be Top 10. Like everyone else, he swings at too many breaking balls in the dirt; still, a heckuva hitter.
  17. Now that I have watched Narvaez play several games, he looks fine defensively, and his hitting stats speak for themselves. Looking forward to his starting 2017 as Number 1 catcher.
  18. Renaudo would look good in a Rockies uniform. His ERA would be around 15.
  19. Of course his value dropped this year. Not that it makes any difference.
  20. I have not seen Zangari for several games. Is he hurt?
  21. How bad was the throw? Did not see it.
