LDF, I think the comment was said/written with tongue in cheek.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 19, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) A Giants fan in L.A. and a Yankees fan in Boston or vice versa is in more danger than Sox on Sox chippiness. But yes I have also been harassed although in stadium not to the point of being followed and harassed. It was during a Sox/Dodgers game with my 2 children ,who were visiting from Arizona (their home with their mother) and my father (visiting from Chicago) a very rare occurrence that all 4 of us were in the same place together. So odd that just rooting for your team in a foreign stadium and wearing the colors can provoke people to harass a man with his children and their grandfather. Young men can be so irrational. Nothing major happened thankfully but what should 've been an enjoyable time ended up pissing me off . Man, that's an awful story, but oh so believable. That's where that unfortunate dude got maimed because he wore a Giants hat. I hope your kids came through it okay.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2015 -> 06:49 PM) So was anyone other than me listening to Steve Stone's commentary on why the Blue Jays' efforts to "bring in" a team have failed, how you need to develop a team from the inside, how you need to have your catcher or your shortstop be the smartest guy on the team, use that to drive the development of starting pitching, and then fill in some gaps around that and think... "This sounds like Stone criticizing the White Sox in another form" ? Stone always wanted to be GM.

This is Robin's worst game for leaving Danks in.

This team is starting to remind me of the St. Louis Browns in the 40's.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 25, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) I've not really looked at stats, etc, to see....but, there is no way in hell there is a worse duo of catchers on any other MLB roster, than what we're stuck watching. It was that way last year, and the year before....

Northsider, what do you have on Devon Davis, pitcher for W-S?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) Currently he's a disaster out there. Avi is not a disaster. Just a little rough around the edges. He'll get better, plus he can hit. Leave him alone.

I thought the 1940's were bad for us Sox fans, but there was always hope, and sure enough, things got a let better in the 50's, thanks largely to our trades for Pierce, Fox, and Minoso. If you're a fan, you support and pull for the team, regardless. Kind of like that old Lou Rawls song about Ups and Downs and Crazy Turn-Arounds.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 22, 2015 -> 06:48 PM) This is how you spell irreconcilable. I thought a Mod would have corrected this by now.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Agree 100% Last night, Bryant and Russell homered. Today we're deciding to sit Rodon out for his next start. Next, we will return to Samardzija trade talk. Meanwhile, the Cubs have about 5-6 guys they could trade to improve their team's chances THIS year (ahead of schedule) by improving their rotation and/or back end of the bullpen One step forward for Cubs, one step backwards for White Sox. It's also the ongoing issues with Ventura, whereas the Cubs lured one of the brightest baseball minds and best media manipulators this side of Buck Showalter in Joe Maddon. Let's not even get started on comparing Schwarber with Anderson or Hawkins. Schwarber hitting .308 with 10 HR and OPS close to 1100 in AA. He's tailed off a bit.

Could be worse........Dodgers shut out 3 games in a row.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 22, 2015 -> 06:31 AM) Who are they going to play instead though? I mean honestly, it's easy to rail on this issue and I understand it but what's the point? Would you rather put Bonifacio or Sanchez in the lineup because those are the option? They aren't going to play Flowers/Soto at the same time (Thank Goodness) and Beckham will be at 3B vs most LHP. There is nobody else to play. Now, if the Sox acquire someone like Aramis Ramirez for cheap, they can then play Gordon at 3B (yuck) and DH Ramirez vs LHP. They just don't have enough good players yet. There is no valid solution, but they should get a RH hitter somewhere, and go with 11 pitchers. Do they really need 12 pitchers? I say bring up Dan Black if no one else is available. If he goes one for fifteen ala Wilkins, send him back. Status quo sucks.

Great work, Dan. Very good piece. I keep hoping some hitter will emerge for Sox at # 8.

I remember when Bo Jackson was talking about Herm, and He said, " I spend more time with him than my wife." -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) The worst aspect is JUST when the fans were starting to believe the team COULD be a playoff contender...AND, playing at HOME where they have actually performed well this season, they just flat out are laying an egg again. It's like, at least for the casual fans, "here we go, been there...done that...this team will bounce back and forth around the .500 mark, probably below it...not a terrible team but not a contending team and not one that's worthy of my support or emotional investment." Purgatory. Face it, Caulfield. You're hooked. You are not a casual fan. You're an addict. You're screwed. You'll be this way decades from now. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) He has to be one of, if not the worst, pitchers in the AL since he signed his extension Agreed.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Melky and his 3 year deal is looking a little scary. Hey, he's hitting .250 or so; he can still play. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) Close this thread he is garbage! That's a little over the top. But the fact remains, he could not make the Colorado roster. Or any other. Sox aren't going to cut him; he probably has 20 or so starts ahead of him in next season and a half. A few will be good.

A second guesser would say "Pinch hit for La Roach against a tough lefty in the clutch late in game."
-
Wilkins hit .264, no homers, for AAA in Toronto system; traded to Dodgers, currently at AAA in LAD system.
-
Oakland announcers are pretty good.
