  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) I guess i'm equating "alter shots" with "blocks." Asik's problem is that he has no hands. He should average 6-8 pts a game on put backs alone, but he keeps bringing the damn ball to the floor and getting stripped. Ah. By "alter shots" I mean when someones going into the lane and go towards Asik, they have to take a much worse shot by twisting themselves, getting around him, or fade aways then if another defender was there because Asik would block the shot otherwise. With Gibson they take that risk, because there's a chance he doesn't block it, but then he also does get some very good blocks. And yes. Asik has literally no hands and he always brings the f***ing ball down which is also annoying. Omer with an offensive game like say, Noahs, is the definitive 2nd best center in the league.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) Asik is easy to leave on the offensive side. They'd double Rose off of Asik, and the Bulls couldn't do anything about it. My point being is when Joakim's out, it's very hard for the Heat to score. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) I like me some Turkish Hammer, but I think Gibson is better than him on the defensive end. It's really too bad that Gibson has lost all confidence in his jump shot. Unless they're dunking the ball, he and Asik are both pretty worthless on the offensive end (except for rebounding). I disagree. Gibson is better with blocks, but Asik just keeps teams out of the paint.

    Wait, f***. When does The Show come out? I think I'll wait until OS' minor league roster comes out.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) He only missed 1, 1.5 games though. And with how close those last four games were until the last few minutes...that's big.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) After seeing what the Bulls did to the trap last night, the only way the Heat us it is with Noah not on the floor. If Boozer can stay healthy, that is like adding a PF because he had no lift last year and Bosh ate his lunch. Well, then Asik is in and when he went down in last years series, that was big. Asik can alter shots better than any center not named Dwight Howard. He kept Wade and LeBron out of the paint at times and the Asik-Deng trap was beautiful on LeBron. Either Noah is in and they can't trap us or Asik is in and we can trap them.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) LeBron should be able to shut down Rose. What the Bulls have to do is make an adjustment and have whoever Chalmers is guarding beat them. That is where Hamilton comes in. Yeah. With Rip and Deng healthy, it becomes a lot harder to just tell BronBron "go stop Rose" when Rip and Deng can shoot over Chalmers. Then a trap? Well... Noah can make plays with his passes to one of Rip, Booz, or Deng who would be open. All them can hit the mid-range shot. Deng can get to the hoop. Noah can get putbacks. Sometimes Boozer is a low-post guy. That's not even counting having CJ or Korver in for the 3.
  7. Bulls will beat the Heat definitively if Noah and Boozer continue to click and Rip gets healthy. Like, we gonna see LeBron go... "Man, no one said it was gon' be easy. We had to fight off the Knicks, 76ers, and the Bulls. That's a tough road to overcome for any team and we just happened to get tired. Y'all just making us seem like we're worse, but it ain't easy down here and you all will have to go on with your lives." Then the next week... HEADLINE: LeBron back to Cavs in 2013? Disgruntled star reportedly wants to team with rising star Irving to win a ring.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...arrowing_t.html Ouch. I feel bad for Bobby. That's terrible.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 07:01 AM) Hell, you'll even let him get to 3rd base...Lord knows the dude never hit a homer. I lost my s*** here.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 07:36 AM) As much as the old Comiskey was awesome (much like the Old Chicago Stadium was awesome), the new Park, especially how they have renovated it, is by far the best venue we've ever had to watch White Sox baseball in. I am a fan of nostalgia as much as the next guy, but IMO, our current ballpark is really underrated. I love our new park. It's my home away from home.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) Theo just kicked his dog. Kenny Williams just started doing the Hava Nagila.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:42 AM) Every year is full of what if's. This season, there are more than ever. The team will most likely be incredible mediocre and be about +/-7 games of .500 all season, yet they have the potential to be so much better. Adam Dunn, as we ALL know, was absolute crap last season. How in the WORLD did someone who could be considered the MODEL of consistency, all of the sudden post a .500something OPS? The offense will receive and incredible boost simply by him improving to career averages. Even if they're slightly below average, say 30 HR, 80 RBI, 90 BB, that's a HELL OF A LOT better than 11 HR, 42 RBI, 75 BB that he put up last year. And of course, culprit #2 Alex Rios. When we picked him up in 09, for the most part, people thought it was dumb, yet saw the upside. He was crap in 09 for the Sox, but then came in and was kicking ass in the 1st half of 2010. How quickly we forget that he carried our offense for that 1/2 season by batting 3rd and putting up an an .878 OPS. His career AVG over a 162 game season is a .757 OPS. He posted a .613 OPS last year. Then there's Gordon Beckham. Once the golden boy of the White Sox and the future of the organization, he's done nothing but decline since that awesome rookie campaign. Only 25, he's got tons of time to turn it around though. Pitching wise, there's Jake Peavy. Same story. High expectations, low end results and frequent injuries. Look at the roster and it seems like almost everyone is trending downward. That simply cannot continue to happen. The White Sox need a little luck to contend in 2012. There's no doubt about it. But so much of their luck has been bad recently that it's bound to turn around eventually. I think the toll that Ozzie took on that team, and the entire media fiasco that went along with him, really effected the team much more than people think. Simply dumping him and getting some fresh faces in there will change the atmosphere in the clubhouse like you wouldn't believe. And as we all know, when expectations are the lowest, that's when the most pleasant surprises happen. It's 2012. It's a new season. It's a fresh start. All is forgotten. And it's time to write a new chapter. Expect the worse, hope for the best, and you'll never be disappointed. Sit back, relax, and strap it down. Here's what I'd roll with: LF De Aza 2B Beckham 1B Konerko DH Dunn RF Viciedo CF Rios C Pierzynski SS Ramirez 3B Morel SP Peavy SP Danks SP Floyd SP Stewart SP Sale Being that it's a new season, I want guys to start off with a lot of confidence. You put Beckham in the 2-hole and you tell him he's capable of doing it, so go do it. You make Peavy the #1 SP because that's what he was brought in to do. Give him a shot, show him you have the confidence in him to be the old Peavy. + 25
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Noah bout to mess around and get a triple double Done.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) A part of me still wishes they'd do this: Do want
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) He made the cover of ESPN the mag with his model wife. He looks so different from when we had him. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) paul hoynes @hoynsie RHP Jon Garland no longer an option for #Indians. Was scheduled for physical Monday, but didn't take it. Minor league deal insurance if we need an extra arm and don't want to rush Molina/Stewart/Castro/Santiago?
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) 70 in an offseason? Less than 5 months? That is truly impressive. This. Props to the man.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) He is also a guy that managed to get all of the way to the Sox in the AL on waivers. What part of "Seriously destroyed his leg" didn't register?
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) As biased as a person could be, I will say it was better than Wrigley. The underneath was similar in that you came up to the field and it just exploded in front of you. All you saw was green. The place looking huge as well. The bigger difference in the two is the size of the place. Wrigley's concourses and are cramped and while Comiskey was larger and allowed for room to walk. Also Comiskey smelled of beer and food. The concourse of Comiskey allowed you to walk around the entire underneath of the stadium. It just seemed large compared to Wrigely. I visited both often when I was young and Wrigley seemed small with the buildings behind it and tucked in the neighborhood. You saw the lights of Comiskey as you drove in whether on the Ryan or the Stevenson. It was the Baseball Palace of the World. /this-only-makes-me-sadder
  19. Joe Johnson out of All-Star Game and 3pt Shootout Rondo in ASG. No idea for 3pt. I vote Korver or Watson for the shootout.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:04 PM) Fill in the blank. Chris Sale is in the best shape of his life.
  21. I wish I could have seen a game there.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) @ESPNChiSox Humber on last season: "My velocity went up as season went on." Had better pre-All Star numbers: 8-5, 3.10 ERA Zach Stewart 1st player to address media. Said spent a lot of time working on changeup, esp release point. Said its always work in progress. What I read from this: Humber is gaining arm strength. Needs to learn to conserve it. Stewart is gonna be a starter in AAA.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) You're telling me that if we're talking "Player ceilings/upside", Carlos Quentin's ceiling isn't an MVP caliber OF? Considering he was an angry slap of a bat away from being an MVP once, that's clearly his upside...he just can't reach it because of injury. Similarly, Jake Peavy's upside is a Cy Young award winner, but he can't reach it any more because of injury. 0_o So if we signed Frank Thomas, we'd have a HOF Caliber bat?
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) For real? My bad it was his Xanga. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/34808710
  25. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) So DRose never faced racism, please. Apparently Jeremy Lin's Chinese Twitter handle was @chinkballa88
