Fire Chris Getz
When Bannister is promoted to GM, because if you've seen videos of him at work (at least with the Giants), he doesn't treat computers like Zoolander and Hansel.

6/16 Sox @ D-backs 3:10PM CT
Surely our GM, with experience as a director of player development, would know better.

6/16 Sox @ D-backs 3:10PM CT
Suddenly the argument that "Charlotte is a bad environment for pitchers to develop vs. the majors" seems dumb

Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets
WE COULDN'T BE HERE WITHOUT HIS LEADERSHIP. AND HE'S GOOD FOR THE PITCHERS, DESPITE THE TWO BEST PITCHERS FORSAKING HIM.

Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets
Tbf, he's probably the second best hitting catcher on the 40-man now

Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets
It takes a lot of skill to manage the worst 40-man roster of all time

— Getz (1) paid contract inexplicably — Maldonado (1) retained, for some reason

He saw fans voting for Maldonado and took it personally.

Sox @ D-Backs 6/14
You could understand taking a swing on Soroka. Sticking with him 100 roster moves later? Eh. Flexen was a lol from the start.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
Ah, I misunderstood. My bad.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
If $15M/year is an anchor, Chris Getz has less chutzpah than Rick Hahn

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
If the Orioles want to give up a package headlined by Holliday and Kjerstad, where does Chris Getz sign? Eaton equivalent would be something headlined by Miller and Painter. (This is obviously going off the very scientific Top 100 rankings)

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
I know he's young, toolsy and on an aggressive assignment in W-S, but if we're targeting the Zavala's of the world, make that the 4th piece.

Jose Abreu Released
But in all seriousness: I've always had a soft spot for Jose for several reasons - the fact that the Sox signed "The Best Hitter You've Never Heard Of," the fact that he was a steady bat most of his career, he was always a good soldier, acting like role model for younger dudes, diffusing fights like when Karinchak hit him in the head, and because I got to interview him once and he came across as the most genuine dude - even despite my extremely limited Spanish (Minnie's eldest son worked with my dad, he was our translator). So it sucks to see how hard he's fallen off. I know retiring numbers is rarified air, but he was an MVP and he's all over the Sox record books despite coming over at an older age. For the traditional stats: 3rd in homers (behind Frank and Paulie), 5th in RBIs (Frank, Paulie, Appling, Baines) and 10th in runs. For advanced stats, he's 12 in fWAR - hurt by defense of course. Fourth in Offensive WAR behind Frank, Eddie Collins, and Minnie.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel
I mean, of course I care. We all do for various reasons cause the Sox have been such big parts of our lives. I'm visiting going to my first Sox game in Chicago (I've seen them at Citi Field and I'm going to semi-count Dash games on Coney Island) for the first time in 8 years when I visit the city in August despite them being hysterically bad cause I miss the stadium. I would have been with you if this were a new GM from a different org, but if KW and Hahn were vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, Getz is vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles and has assembled a historically bad team - that takes effort. Even at the absolute worst of the last rebuild, they weren't this bad. It's a new coat of paint on the same building. I don't even hate JR as a person because I think he's a decent person (based on employee loyalty, charities, what, etc.), just an absolute s%*# sports owner. To quote GWB: Fool me one, shame on you. Fool me twice, can't get fooled again.
