  1. Read this Daily News article. But it can best be summarized as: - Baseball suspended a black man for calling a white man the n-word. This is after the white man's feelings got hurt because the black man showed emotion, thereby violating the sport's unwritten rules, so the white man had to punish the black man with physical harm. - This is after another white man had a tirade where he screamed f-bombs at an umpire and charged at him last week because he struck out. No suspension. - This is while the Cleveland Indians exist as a team. - This is while the Atlanta Braves exist and do the tomahawk chop with their fans. If Schwarber had been suspended, the Indians didn't exist, and the Braves fans just do the fucking wave, maybe it wouldn't matter. But much like Tim Anderson's usage of the word, context matters, because as far as we're all aware, there is no actual rule around using the word.
  2. I'm here for Blue Jays drama caused by Tim Anderson. Edit: Cause Grichuck will not be happy about this.
  3. Ken Rosenthal referred to this as L'Affaire Anderson in his column for The Athletic, referencing L'affaire Jake Powell. Copying from Wikipedia, because the academic articles are behind a paywall. Ever since Ian Kinsler's moronic comments during the World Baseball Classic, the unwritten rules have had a vague connotation around them as a race thing. Now thanks to this suspension, especially in light of Schwarber's tirade not warranting a suspension, I have a feeling they're going to be put firmly in the national spotlight as such, whether they are or not.* *I'm not passing judgement on them as such, this is just what I feel the coming debate will be.
  4. Yup. They don't own the Knights, Barons, Dash, Intimidators, or Voyagers.
  5. If the Sox owned Winston-Salem, sure.
  6. But is it more disappointing than being named Enoy, brother of Eloy?
  7. Juan Moncada, only because it would truly mess with people.
  8. Just imagine if he keeps it up once he hits Regions Field.
  9. That's only if he's still on the mound. If he's pulled, Abreu needs to go in the dugout with the bat and start swinging. SANCTITY OF THE GAME.
  10. Yah, Cordell can stay for now.
  11. Brian McCann is the torch bearer of the unwritten rules of baseball. The Braves could have focused on winning the game, but they had to enforce the rules.
  12. I want Anderson, Moncada, Eloy, everyone to do this shit when they hit home runs against the Royals. Get the crowd as pumped as the Winter League Crowds.
  13. When I lived in Missouri, MLB.TV blacked out Sox broadcasts against the Royals. Dark times in my life.

  15. But on topic, I like Stoney's suggestion: Automatic suspensions for third participants. Leave it down to the pitcher and batter. If the pitcher knows his entire bench is facing minimum 10 game suspensions if they step on the field, he's not gonna be plunking guys with the knowledge that he has to fight them alone.
  16. I have discerned Chisox378's identity.
  17. According to Rex Hudler, he must be put to death.
  18. In that case, Salvador Perez is a giant fucking hypocrite.
  19. 1) If it's unwritten, it ain't real, so screw it. 2) Oh right. Salvador Perez, who caught this guy.
  20. And here's them defending Yorando Ventura (RIP) up and down the diamond.
  21. This twitter user did a great side by side of Benetti and the atrocity that is the Royals TV broadcasters. This was probably Benetti's best moment yet as a Sox broadcaster and I thought it was worth its own thread. People may like to rag on him because he can be cheesy, but he's a professional and infinitely better than people like Steve Physioc and Rex "The Moon is a Planet" Hudler.
  22. MLB's Facebook supports Timmy

With lots of power and still drawing walks. If he could force Castillo out mid-season it'd be a godsend.

Regardless of who gets the call, I'm sure our pitchers and center-fielders are grateful.
