White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Oh noes! They are going to "pull him off the market"! What great binary thinking they display over there in Bmore. No s*** nobody is going to offer you much for a rental that probably near 2/3 of clubs can't even come close to resigning. If they are hell bent on trading him then revisit it at the deadline they will have more leverage. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) Yelich = Giolito, Robert, Hansen, + ( no thanks ) We just need to keep stock piling and developing. Any trades for established controlled stars is gonna cost way too much. I'm gonna guess something closer to the Eaton trade, which the above package obliterates. Rutherford, Cease, Collins and a flier is what I imagine it would be. But I'd also skip out on it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 04:10 PM) No, there are a bunch of books written by Timothy Zahn that are pretty close to the Ben Solo arc. That’s why me and quin were calling Rey “Jaina Solo”. The destruction of Luke’s Jedi training temple is on point with that TBH I wouldn’t mind if they went back and covered Luke in between RotJ and TFA. They could have brought in Mara Jade Skywalker The fact that Mara Jade is pretty impossible at this point makes me sad. Thrawn came back, Revan can whenever they want, Jade is gone :/

Would mean 50-50 split of House. Judge panel must certify results. Legal challenge probably coming. It is 11,608 to 11,607 Hot damn. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) That is crazy. Probably a couple of people who are like "s***, should of voted". Like when Nixon became President of Earth.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) Definitely true. Heck they could have ended with Leia floating in space, and I would have been good with it... even though I loved where they did end it. It was like Return of the King, except instead of tying together all of the plot threads it just wanted to keep going. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Didn't he use the lightning early in the movie with Ren? I believe he did. Don't forget the Force connection between Rey and Ren. And he was making Kylo Ren look like a fool, after TFA set Ren up as one of the most powerful we've ever seen.

Glad to see them standing up for my small business owning, cancer surviving father who is close to retirement. Since Vicky Hartzler and Roy Blunt won the last election I got to vote for Congress, I feel like I should tell at them even though I don't live in Missouri anymore.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like this film can be summed up with "That's not how The Force works!"

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) I don't mind Portis. Think he can be a serviceable big man off the bench. We have to get Lopez and Niko out of here. I think Portis can fetch equal value due to his contract, but I don't think he has a lot of upside. Meanwhile, Niko is pricier but he's better in basically every facet of the game and is talking like a team leader. Combine it with the fact that Hoiberg is experimenting with him at center in the new centerless NBA and I can see him being part of the "core". Dunn LaVine Porter(?) - Nwaba Lauri Niko Build from there, getting a true center to form a three man rotation.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Rogue One seems even better in retrospect. They should have kept the main characters to Jin, Cassian, Chirut and K2SO, but at least it had a coherent story and consistent tone. Edwards had a clear vision and stuck to it. Oh, and the comic relief actually worked and didn't ruin the immersion. Chirrut and K2SO we're infinitely funnier than any TLJ character while still being serious and relatable. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Everyone should re-watch the first 10 minutes of TFA and the first 10 minutes of TLJ. In TFA the First Order was ruthless and menacing. Poe made a quip that worked. Kyle Ren displayed his power by stopping the blaster shot with the f***ing force. On the other hand, TJL ruined the immersion with the dumbass exchange. It made the first order look totally inept. I knew right from that first scene that "this wasn't going to go as I expected." Building off this - I had no issue with Poe trolling Hux. Fit his character. Had issues with Hux being so easily duped.

Ok, time for crazy NBA trade scenarios: Lopez + Portis for Shump, Frye and the Nets pick. All dependent on Portis keeping up his current pace. Niko + Holliday for Deng, Kuzma and 2019 lottery protected first. Who says no to each? What about Niko + Lopez to Cavs for Shump and TT?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) He also basically blew up the entire premise of the Jedi from everything we learned in the prequels and OT, about Jedi needing years of training to use and harness their force power, which is a pretty major shift in Star Wars culture. It was touched on in Rogue One, but I also liked the theme that there is a grey area between good and bad. That is something the OT and prequels tried to be very clear about, the Rebels are good, the Empire is bad. Oh lord. Rey went from "inexplicably powerful Force user with a connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke's lightsaber" to "Her parents were space meth heads and she's a Mary Sue."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) It should have ended about a hour earlier with Kylo and Rey in Snokes chambers. The most interesting part was Kylo basically saying f*** the jedi, f*** the sith and even for a split second you think hes got a good point and think Rey may go with him because of it. But then yeah that was just brushed aside and we needed hoth 2.0 for whatever reason. Then Reys "coming of Jedi" moment is literally lifting a bunch of rocks, as if we needed that confirmation of her powers given everything that had happened. The Rey-Kylo team up was fantastic. And I legitimately thought that Kylo Ren was going to become "Vader's heir" and bring balance to The Force - taking out any remnants of the Jedi and the Sith would have made him a fascinating character. Instead Rey is like, nah, and he gets mad. I think that pisses me off about all the people saying it's great because Rian Johnson took so many risks - did he? - Killed Luke, but OK, it was basically Yoda's death 2.0. - Snoke gets killed by Kylo, Vader killing Palpatine 2.0. - Good guys fail, which happened in Empire. - Rey's parents were insignificant. Ok, I guess that's a risk? Meanwhile all the actual risks he could have done were backtracked. - Morally gray force using Kylo Ren. - Finn's suicide run at the end. - Killing Leia in the opening. - Having Snoke be something significant. - Something other than "they have a MINI-DEATH STAR!"

Already have friends saying people aren't true Star Wars fans if they dislike The Last Jedi. I'm sure that is their feelings on the prequels.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 10:36 PM) Wow, now it’s coming out that NBC paid off someone who made sexual harassment claim against Chris Matthews. If you had told me to pick one person at MSNBC who would be caught in this, I'd have said Matthews in a heartbeat. This one is barely shocking.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Seriously? There wasn't a single consequence for any of their actions. Not a single character actually died on any of those movies. Not one. Ah, I was going with the OP comment.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) This is moment of impact. The box he supposedly hit his RIGHT knee on is on the left side of him in front of the stairs. I just don't buy that. Yeah I still...don't see him hitting it. Like in any clip.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
Re: Last Jedi They should have just made it The Two Towers in space and have a siege on salt world. Have Finn and Rose actually sabotage a First Order craft, but not because they stumbled on Benicio del Toro. Have Luke save the day in person. Give Snoke a purpose. Don't bring back Phasma.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* Thread
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) Ultimately, it was always better when there was mystery, when Obi-Wan was a space hermit with some powers that were intriguing, when Vader was an ominous and ruthless dog, when the Emperor was a menacing image, when the Force wasn't on full display. When they show us everything and everyone is OP, it's boring. It's why I can't get invested in Marvel movies. Although the X Men are great because there's sensible balance. Wolverine is OP. Well, actually Magneto owns Wolverine. So Magneto is OP? Well Professor X owns Magneto. And so and so on. You must have missed Civil War, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Ragnarok. Heroes pretty much got their asses handed to them in those films.
