QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Do you even know who you're talking about anymore?

Well, we all know that the Sox have a good Cuban history. /self plug for The Cuban Comet.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 11:31 PM) That Oscar screw up was amazing. Biggest comeback since the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 05:48 PM) Of all the possibilities, the Sox paying a 30 year old Sale 150+ million (assuming his arm doesn't fall off) is about the only one I would be my house doesn't happen. But would you bet Greg's house?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) Jenks, Exactly what I was thinking about, haha. Same.

Again, with Sale, let's wait to see how his career plays out. Maybe in three years the Sox are knocking on the door and throw money at Sale to round out an untraded Q, Rodon, Giolito/Lopez/Kopech/Fulmer/Hansen/Stephens/Whoever. We have no idea what the future will hold exactly.

QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) It's happening. https://twitter.com/Noahbierman/status/835197971562115072 Breitbart, OANN, Washington Times are all in White House briefing. CNN and NY Times (and LA Times) not allowed in. You're not allowed in until you're willing to give a fake news spin job. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 01:14 AM) And more recently JDINAA, then JQINAA. Probably CRINAA soon enough. Where's our goddamn Liriano?

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Yeah, I'm more of all time greats in the game, plus Minoso as a Sox version of Jackie Robinson. Obviously Konerko and Buehrle deserve it with Pierce and Baines already having it retired. The Sox have overdone it with the numbers in my opinion. I'd be interested to know how many each of the original 16 franchises have retired. Not counting Jackie, except for Dodgers. A's: 5 Braves: 10 Cardinals: 12 (42 for Sutter) Cubs: 6 (31 twice) Dodgers: 10 Giants: 11 (two names honored as they played before numbers) Indians: 6 Orioles: 6 Phillies: 7 (two similar to Giants) Pirates: 9 Reds: 10 Red Sox: 10 Tigers: 6 Twins: 7 White Sox: 11 (counting Buehrle) Yankees: 20 (42 for Rivera, 8 twice, not counting Jeter) So the Sox are basically middle of the pack. You could make extremely strong arguments for Ozzie.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Preach. The Nets are an atrocity. Two potential top 3 picks+ for Butler? GMAB. That's full speed ahead with a legitimate front-office in place. This. But nah, half ass the tank

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Mike McGraw: Payne+Lauvergne+Morrow for Taj/Doug/2nd round pick. I see no reason why the hell we would give up a pick. Utterly stupid. Could always use it on a euro guy you want to stash for a few years. Doug was a disasterous move (revisionist history but man...giving up all those picks for him and getting very little back in return). The Bulls throwing in the pick and not OKC makes it even more laughable.
-
That is a joke for the Bulls. Love it for OKC.
-
Gonna pull like crazy for the Thunder now. Doug and Taj next to Westbrook will be a fun time.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 11:02 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/22/politics/dnc...bate/index.html DNC Leadership Council Debate/Contenders...future direction of Democratic Party, and united the two wings Perez appears to be leading, but Ellison (Sanders' bloc) has a large number of votes, maybe both will need the votes of contenders #3-5 to get over the top and win. One of those guys is the mayor of South Bend, IN. I feel like this basically Obama vs. Bernie

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) I disagree. I'd be significantly disappointed in that return. Teams fall all over themselves to make silly trades for relievers in season. Missing out on a back up catcher is a risk I'm willing to take. My counter point is that raising Jones' value while removing the risk of Robertson's 2016 not being an aberration helps balance it out.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) MLBTR is saying the Sox will eat money to get Severino for Robertson, so it sounds like it would be pretty much a straight up deal. I'm completely OK with this. Like I said earlier, people wanted Robertson cut/salary dumped. To get a young, defensive catcher to add to Narvaez (who could have a solid backup career) and Collins would be great for Robertson. Plus it gets Jones in the closer role from the get-go, setting him up to bring in a deadline haul.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Depends on who you talk to. I don't have a problem with it at all and yet again ask the question why is this a "problem" for baseball but no one, NO ONE complains when an NFL game (which has just as little action between plays) often runs 3:15 to 3:30...and in the post season it runs longer. And if baseball has an issue with fan support (including kids) why do they keep setting attendance records every year? Mark Great point. I've stopped watching NFL games because there's so little actual game, but it demands constant energy for three hours. As for attendance, it's easier for people to say alternative facts about attendance to make a point.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 12:31 AM) Like both equally Kalaspe but I would go with Q for the time being so he can be honored for the rest of his days as a White Sox pitcher. IMHO, Q has earned it. Once Q is traded we can switch to the Anderson, Rodon, Moncada banner. Again, great work. This is where I'm at. Plus, maybe we don't trade Q and he leads us to the playoffs in two years?

QUOTE (turnin' two @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 09:50 PM) So are you saying Saladino is better? Saladino had a better WAR last year than Bryce Harper, WAR can be a very flawed stat, especially if it is the only thing you are considering. According to BWAR, Eaton was basically equivalent to Nolan Arenado. Eaton was much better than Sale (and Q was a good margin better). Saladino is a good player, and a great guy to have on the team, but I guess I don't even understand the point which you are trying to make. WAR is a counting stat, it integrates how much time has been played. - It doesn't have Saladino (1.2) over Harper (3.5) - Eaton was equivalent to Arenado because his glove was just that good last season. He was basically what the Cubs thought Heyward would be. - He was better than Q and Sale because he's a batter, so a counting stat benefits him.
