Drew Pomeranz to the Red Sox
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) I am sure they matched up quite well but the Whitesox arent selling right now. No, the Sox just want to keep Sale and Quintana because they're trying to compete.

Truck Attack in Nice, France
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) Are there any die-hard Republicans in this thread or on Soxtalk at all? Seems to me this is a Democrat-dominated board; in the vicinity of 90 percent to 10 percent. Terrible loss of life in this tragedy. What.A.World. Horror after horror every week. Bruh

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Inciarte hasn't been very good. Honestly think he was one of the most overhyped players on Soxtalk this offseason. I still like Swanson & Blair and definitely think they will easily win the trade (especially with Miller sucking), but it's not quite the haul people thought it was at first. It's still a big f***ing haul considering what their values were at the time.

Sox Looking for CFers
Let's play Morneau there.

So the truck driver was French.

Burdi Watch
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) Remember when Nolan Sanburn was mentioned as a long-shot bullpen candidate/future closer when we acquired him from the A's? Not so much. Seriously? You just moan for the sake of moaning.

Sox Looking for CFers
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:59 PM) If the Pomeranz trade is any indication of where the trade market is at, I am good with standing pat. Interestingly, Fulmer is one spot ahead of Espinoza on the MLB Top 100

Everyone points to Garcia, but it's Abreu's slide that's k
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) great post for any user but especially a mod. Seriously? Yeah, I'm allowed to post this. And also, the yawn was in response to Ron, because of course he jumped on this. His hate of Abreu is a SoxTalk meme at this point.

Rodon's Replacement in Rotation
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) Why would they bring up Turner just to DFA when Rodon is back? Talk about bullpen depth but they just recalled Kahnle before the brak for the umpteenthtime. Maybe another FA or trade move is getting ready to be made? I think the theory to replace Beck with Turner makes the most sense.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) He doesn't really have skeletons in his closet. Unless you consider support for Sandinistas in Nicaragua back in the 80's skeletons. I don't. I mean relative to him. The rape fantasy thing was pretty bad. And incorrectly identifying someone as Muslim just because they had brown skin. We made fun of Hillary for calling boba tea "chewy tea". And while I don't care (because it isn't a big deal at all), if Hillary had a child out of wedlock we'd hear about it non-stop.

**Gary Johnson 2016 election thread**
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) If the Libertarian Party could turn their libertarian-ness down from like an 8 to a 4, they'd actually be relevant. Their top-level message sounds really appealing and then once you dig into the party platform, you find all sorts of garbage. That being said, they have a decent chance of getting my protest vote again (bleh). If my state looks like Trump has a shot to win, I'll have to vote Hillary. Same for the Green Party. The thing is they need to tone it back a bit, then boom, relevant.

**Gary Johnson 2016 election thread**
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) What were you laughing at specifically? His general unease. He was being interviewed by a social media news company on a FB livestream and looked unsettled. Imagining that in a debate is hysterical. Now, he's a realest so I'll give him that. But saying guns work in Israel means they'd work here is laughable. That removing all taxes is a good idea because a can of pop will be $.73 and not $1. It was just so rough to watch.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) They were quite scared of Sanders' threat to Ms. Clinton and made sure he didn't ride momentum to the nomination. If the media had jumped on his bandwagon when he was routinely clobbering Clinton in that stretch of primaries, he had a real chance in California. But every one of Bernie's victories was shrugged off with, "Clinton has all the superdelagate support and Sanders has no chance." Very unfair and sad. Yeah the public perception already has Hillary blowing away Bernie in a rout when in reality Bernie actually gave her a hell of a fight against all odds. No money and no media on his side. He should have been given superstar coverage when he started blowing her out of the water in that one significant stretch of primaries. I don't understand why the media wants Hillary so badly. It's like they take it personally when it's even suggested somebody might beat her. The media wasn't scared of Bernie at all. Like, the skeletons in his closet were routinely...ignored.

**Gary Johnson 2016 election thread**
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) I have a buddy that has been pumping Johnson and the Libertarian party for months. He was pretty excited for a chance to break through with two unlikeable candidates running. After the Town Hall with Johnson on CNN, he is now voting for Trump. He must be really awful at public speaking, which makes me wonder how he became the nominee? My friend is still a Libertarian, but couldn't vote for Johnson after that I guess. I mean, he sounds great for five minutes, then you hear his policies and want to laugh in his face. I was in the room next to the studio and had to repeatedly stifle laughter.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Up to around 12%. Needs to reach 15% to get into debate. Oh man, GJ in the debates will be a riot. He was squirming when my editor interviewed him. I'd love to see how he reacts on the national stage.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) I don't think the media took Sanders very seriously either. Right, I meant even though he was a Presidential candidate, he basically got a free pass. [Prepares for Greg to come in and say otherwise]

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Biden just doesn't get taken seriously. He is treated like the racist and really old uncle who just occasionally yells something stupid, and everyone laughs and goes "Oh that Uncle Joe!" Now the gloves would come off if he were every the nominee for President, but for now he kind of gets the Quayle treatment. Eh, to be fair the gloves didn't come off for Bernie who earlier this year assumed an Indian man was Muslim, not Hindu. And there's his whole rape fantasy writings from the 70s. But yeah, Biden is just America's crazy uncle right now.

Who Are These Guys? (BP South Side Article)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) If you look around MLB and pick out the teams that are trading their top players at their peak values, you aren't looking at the top franchises in baseball. Those teams squeeze every ounce of performance they can from their players. You are looking at teams like the Oakland A's who are always rebuilding. Or the Braves since 2005ish. These are the teams the Sox would end up being like, not the Red Sox or Cubs who are able to supplement trading key players for prospects with mad amounts of cash.

Who Are These Guys? (BP South Side Article)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) It is amazing how obvious this is, but everyone completely ignores. Maximizing asset returns just means you are in a perpetual rebuilding mode. But trading Sale, Q, Eaton, Abreu, Robertson, Melky, Frazier, Jones, Duke, Jennings and Lawrie will allow us to stockpile on prospects so they can be ready when we trade Rodon, Fulmer, Collins, Adams, Hansen, Burdi, Anderson, Call, Fischer, Saladino, and Michalczewski.
