QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) I wouldn't mind bumping up Alvarez and Anderson each up a level, and let Rondon go back to A+. They could get a couple weeks taste of the new level and make adjustments in the off season as needed. I didn't even notice that Rondon is in AAA. Ooof. Talk about do or die.

The fact that they used "It's clobberin time" for Ben's brother abusing him is appalling. Also, anyone could see this disaster coming, though not THIS big of a disaster. Fox wants the rights to do a live-action X-Men TV show, which Marvel has. So they might do a trade of X-Men TV for FF. If Marvel gets the rights back, they need to skip the origin and use the Future Foundation branding instead of Fantastic Four. But best of all, we can see (a hopefully comic book faithful) Doom square off against the Avengers. Or Galactus. Or Kang. Or Annihilus. Or a Skrull - Kree war.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Sox did not win games. Twins are irrelevant. Orioles 3-3 on the west coast. Past week: Blue Jays 7-0 Angels 4-2 Orioles 3-3 Rays 4-2 Rangers 4-2 Twins 1-6 Tigers 3-3 White Sox 1-5 I really can't see the five current postseason teams falling out of it. Maybe if the Yankees just bomb, and the Orioles get on a run the last five weeks of the season. Notice how the team that made two big moves has been on fire. Yet we stood pat.

Pulling for a Blue Jays - Mets WS. I wish we traded Shark and a reliever to the Jays to help them out even more. I'd enjoy seeing Mark get another ring.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) Cle (30-39)- 11-7, 2-17, 9-10, 8-5 Det (27-41)- 6-12, 7-12, 9-10, 5-7 KC (24-45)- 6-12, 9-10, 6-13, 3-10 Min (35-34)- 14-4, 8-11, 9-10, 4-9 116-159 (.422) That's like a 68-94 team against your own division. Over 275 games. Everything is ok though.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 04:07 PM) His career goal is to make the majors and walk 100 times in a season. How great is that. His mentality is perfect. It's one of the big things I was able to gather from talking to him.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) The double promotion I suggested for him doesn't look too insane now. Too good for high-A as well. Let's get him in the lineup for the Angels series. Eddy may be my favorite "sleeper" in the entire org. I made the completely bats*** crazy prediction he'd be Top 100 by the end of the year and while that isn't happening, he's extremely fun to follow.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition

QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) What is Heyward going to get? $15M a season? I like him but the White Sox need a #4 and #5 hitter to go with Abreu. Even if they keep the C (Flowers and Soto platoon) and 2B (with an improving Sanchez) intact, they have gaping holes at RF, SS, 3B and DH while C & 2B could be horrible production as well. I'd imagine it will be more like $20M+ a season. -
QUOTE (L. Ron Paultard @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) So a Don Cooper starter who is cruising..... is suddenly having all sorts of problems pitching out of the stretch??? Under pennant race pressure late in the season? Shocking, LOL. Who knew that a whiny fat-man with a fragile ego like whom who snaps at any semi-difficult questions... would somehow infect his pitching staff. Then again, Coop is untouchable. Did 2005 really happen? Um...

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) That was a great stop just to keep it in the infield and get one. I just saw the bobble. It was a good stop. And FFS Shark. You ain't getting ace money at this rate.

Tyler. Damnit.
-
Holy s*** Alexei, that was a pretty flip.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) Cabreroid had some face 2 face words with Perez after he scored on that GIDP. Watch for things getting chippier later. Greg is excited.

Everyone had the Sox skipping Trout and the Angels taking him, but damn, if it doesn't hurt every time I see him play. He actually has a shot at being the GOAT. That's insane.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) This one will be the ugliest of the 3. Saturday night. Shark a good but not great pitcher. Royals fans wanting blood on Shark with a full house again. If I were Shark I'd hit Cain. All hell would break loose and it might wake up our boys. Shark's the kind of guy who might do it. He plays for such a noncompetitive team it'd put him in the headlines and really would shake up the s***ty frontrunning KC fans. Gonna be hot with game starting at 6 and stadium baking in 90s. KC 10, Chicago 4. Really, you're advocating this s*** again? You're advocating that Samardzija hit someone on purpose after this is how you reacted to him hitting someone on accident? Really?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Just my opinion. I think Ramirez is gone after the season and unless Micah can stay healthy and get over his hamstring issues, his futue with the Sox is dubious at best. Can't play Tyler at third base. Third base is a power / RBI position. You've got to have a masher at that position who plays decent defense. Now who that can be for the Sox I have no idea. I can see Tyler as the all around utility guy next year since Gordon and Bonafacio will be gone. Sanchez is settling in nicely at second leave him there. Mark Third base isn't that position anymore. It used to be and the top guys at third still are, but now it's a place where 10-15 homers and 50-70 RBIs is plenty.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) I wouldn't call him special because defensively he remains a huge work in progress. He definitely has skills that cannot be taught: speed and patience at the plate. Hopefully, he finishes up strong in High-A and plays in the AFL. He is way more advanced than anyone could have imagined after taking significant time off. His season is extremely encouraging, but as always, the more he produces against better competition, the more excited I will get. He definitely has gone from a organizational player to legit prospect though. Even defensively, it's mostly mental. He told us that it was the unexpected mental toll that baseball takes. He also said all throughout his baseball career he's prided himself on defense so he's working on fixing it. He does have great defensive tools.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) Really? Even I'd PH for Flowers here. Nah
-
Rex Hudler is blaming the pitching staff for not getting the ball to Flowers quick enough to throw out runners.
-
However bad Pods is, Rex Hudler is worse than him and Hawk. God I hate Rex Hudler.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) That makes me feel pretty optimistic to be honest. Bet the house.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) I don't think Abreu has the demeanor to be a big fighter. He seems like more of a lover than a fighter. The guys on the team I wouldn't want to f*** with would be Samardzija, Garcia and Flowers. For me it's Abreu, because he's such a lover over a fighter. If that massive man gets pissed to the point of fighting, f*** it, I'm out.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) I really wonder what they see in these guys that they like or think they can fix, Tago wasn't the first and won't be the last...CWS might not be able to develop any sort of productive hitter but they always pop out quality arms Thing is, while it's tempting to let all the arms develop and have them pitch on the big league club, there's only so many spots. They need to start trading some pitching depth to get hitters.
