  1. Just chiming in to say I'd take the Sox rotation over the Cubs farm system.
  2. So, it seems like everyone can agree Peavy, Rios, and Crain are likely to be gone. Dunn, Danks, Thornton, Lindstrom, De Aza and Alexei are also trading chips that could be gone. So let's assume they all get traded (big fire sale!). Here are the in house guys I'd expect on the field next year, minus bench and most of the bullpen because that's a crapshoot. Rotation: Sale Santiago Quintana Johnson Axelrod C - Phegley 2B - Beckham 3B - Gillaspie LF - Viciedo Bullpen: Reed Jones Castro Webb So...a lot of holes to plug if everyone got traded. I'd look for a right handed starter to replace Axelrod in the rotation. Then lefty bats are needed, well any bats are needed, but my point stands. Interesting thing: Despite the Sox woes, it seems they have a lot players that can cash in on for good packages...which makes this year even sadder.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) Konerko=Kirk Gibson or Roy Hobbs? John Elway.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:07 AM) Well here's something. Buster Olney tweeted that the DBacks have been looking at Peavy and that the Sox have had scouts at their games to watch Randall Delgado. What you guys think? I'd take Delgado. You'd get this starting five next year: Sale - Delgado - Quintana - Johnson - Santiago For a rebuilding team, that's a nice start.
  5. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Here's what I've been told...(one source), FWIW - Close on a couple deals (real names exchanged) - Sale is not untouchable - Several guys are on their way out just to be gone (out of favor with RV) Better be one of the biggest hauls ever.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) Phegley won't be a lift and pull .210 hitter, I can promise you that. He might a s***ty .210 hitter or a .300 hitter with some pop, but he won't be an all or nothing guy. He'll much more likely be all....or nothing. If that makes sense. He won't be a strike out or homerun guy. He will likely be an all around player or a complete scrub. Correct?
  7. I'm part of the "always go for it" camp. f*** this year though.
  8. Also, I'm actually in favor of trying to get Melo if you couldn't get Love.
  9. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Ouch. That's a bargain and a nice combo forward to spell KG and Pierce and provide a little injury insurance. Brilliant move by him to turn down $10 million this year. Russian Mob makes you do that. Also, if you took Bulls draft picks (as in players the Bulls took out of the draft, not picked in their exact slot) since 2000, here's a roster you could have of active players. PG: Rose/Hinrich/Duhon SG: Butler/Gordon/Thabo SF: Deng/Snell or Artest/Johnson PF: Gibson/Thomas/Murphy or Mirotic C : Noah/Chandler/Asik Oh no the humanity! You probably can't find a team better constructed off of their own draft picks. Jesus Christ. Maybe the Cavs since they lucked into both LeBron and Kyrie.
  10. I'm probably the biggest Gordon homer on this site. Start talking about extensions if he keeps it up all year, then re-evalute it.
  11. Phegley is super awesome.
  12. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) Id pay to see him & Miggy go at it. Money on Dunn
  13. Alexei getting a hit made that all the better. Cramp acting up though. Take him out!
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) Sale threw up & in to Prince after the Cabrera homer. Sale's reaction after the throw tells me it was more unintentional than payback.
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) This. No fight. Leyland and pitcher from Detroit (Puntkonen, unsure on spelling) tossed.
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) Love how Stone works in these situations. Hawk is a blow-hard, but Stone is analyzing the sh*t out of the situation. Really great stuff. I laughed at "obligatory bullpen charge."
  17. Good job by Pena just holding Alexei. A lot of opposing caches wouldn't hold him like Pena did, more likely a punch or just letting the batter initiate the brawl.
  18. Lol. Alexei wasted no time in tossing his bat.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) What happened? Hopefully just a hamstring cramp.
  20. Damn good throw by Dayan
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) I'd definitely be skeptical of moving Sale, but if the Rangers or Cardinals put together a crazy package I can't say I wouldn't consider. That being said I don't think either team would move Profar or Taveras respectively. Neither team gets Sale then. You have to give elite prospects (plural) for an established elite pitcher under contract.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) Would never make sense for them. He's the one guy they NEED on their big league team next year. Everyone else is fair game and there is plenty of talent in the "everyone else" group swing a deal. They don't need Sale then if they need him.
  23. When is Erik Johnson healthy?
  24. Is the plan to have Castro start again or is he a reliever from now on?
