  1. Mass Effect 3 Spoilers
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) This was one of those instances where the injury wrote it's own jokes.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) That the text explicitly says she is dark-skinned provides humor to the disgusting racism of the comments. If the book was race-ambiguous, why is it such a terrible thing for her to be black? Yeah, Rue and Thresh we're specifically mentioned as dark skinned. And Cinna, well, I imagined him as white. But it's never said and who can complain about Lenny Kravitz? He was great.
  4. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) It is so WTF-White Sox to name Santiago as the closer. Son-of-a-b****. Where's that at?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Lebron dislocated a finger on his non shooting hand. His ring finger.
  6. 1) Addison Reed wins ROY 2) Morel-Alexei-Beckham all win Gold Gloves as the Sox have the fewest errors in the league. 3) De Aza and Humber make the All-Star game. PK gets in on the fan vote. 4) Sale wins 15+, Viciedo hits 30 HR. 5) Following a championship, Rose plays some RF for Rios, who hits the DL. 6) Adam Dunn puts up non-2011 Adam Dunn numbers. 7) Sox win the division. Edit: If the above other than 5 happens, Robin gets Manager of the Year and we all sing Kenny's praises.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) 86-89.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 06:08 AM) That's it, folks! I'll see ya later.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 04:45 AM) Miguel Cabrera = Roger Dorn
  10. T-Wolves quickly becoming my 2nd favorite team.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) I'm so f***ing sick of this season. I've never seen players get injured so often. The NBA should have gone for like 55 games instead of 66. The break-neck pace has made the on-court product suffer. Yes, the Bulls are winning. However, is Rose going to play at all the rest of the year? Dude had a bleeding groin for Christ's sake. Rip Hamilton is a china doll. I don't think a single player save, somehow, Carlos Boozer, has been able to stay fully healthy this year. It makes me want to break things so hard all over people's faces. Korver is the only player to play every game for Thibs.
  12. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) The Bulls keep winning, it gets boring really fast Yeah, ever since J4L left, nobody else writes debate inducing posts like he did... And Felix. DOST THOU ALL SEE WHAT HELL THEE HATH WROUGHT?
  13. Nick Carfado thinks everyone is available. Last year he kept saying how Buehrle would make a great long relief pitcher.

    WIN EVERY GAME ON A DUNN WALKOFF. EVEN THE AWAYS.
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) i haven't read the book or seen the movie. but i'm sure the villains are inspired by Obama/Democrats And this was the most asinine comment in the thread, especially considering they're more inspired by Hitler and King Minos. Seriously, know what you're talking about before you're "sure" of something. Especially considering the book came out before Obama was elected, or else I'll go ahead and say 1984's villains are clearly based on Bush/Republicans.
  16. Read the books last year, just saw the movie. My verdict: It plays to it's audience, young adults.
  17. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) yes. Obama is not 'fighting for working class people' as he claims. Merely a marketing slogan.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 07:03 AM) Ha ha, maybe you're right Quinarvy. And possibly we think it's our job as teachers to assume everything has a deeper meaning or connection, because if there's not one, why do they need our interpretations? Couldn't they just hire robots as teachers instead, if anything has a literal meaning and nothing is deeper or metaphorical? For reference, I've always thought this, mainly as a writer. Sometimes, I just write stuff because it's what my emotions want or it gives me joy. And not everything needs a literal meaning. Lord of the Rings doesn't, Grapes of Wrath does.
  19. Anyone here have Mass Effect 3 on PS3 and want to play online? I hate multiplayer with people I don't know. PSN: Quinarvy_Ethil
  20. My opinion on this is that sometimes writers write something just to tell a compelling story. Unlike what English teachers like to believe, not every literary piece has a deep philosophical, political meaning.
  21. We have the best closer prospect in baseball. Let's make our long relief/spot starter the closer.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) With the constant allusions to the decadence of the Capitol, it's hard not to see them as rich Republicans, lol. On the other hand, Katniss' personal design crew are very artistic/avant garde/Hollywood-influenced, so the Santorum folks would argue they represent the decaying moral/cultural values of Washington and the popular culture at-large. Not once while I was reading the book last year did I think "You know, this book is full of political allegory!"
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) How is Hunger Games the same as a documentary on the Bush administration? Actually, don't answer that. Don't need to go further with this. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Some people see meaning in everything. A book/movie is sometimes just a book/movie, not political symbolism. THANK YOU.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) the politics of the hunger games world is like the central plot point, though Yes, but not everything is about Republicans and Democrats, 99% and Tea Party.
