I was looking into this, but seems somewhat complicated with a lot of "registering" for different things. Has anyone here ever used it? Thanks.

Schaumburg Flyers evicted from Alexian Field
jasonxctf replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (SnB @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) The sox would absolutely lose alot of their family sales if that happened. That would happen now too if Geneva wasn't practically in Iowa. hey now, its not that far away. i can make it from Geneva to Naperville in 25 mins on I88. normally it takes me 1hr 15mins to make it to the cell. By the way, heard a story about the Flyers. Apparently they were dicking over the local hotels when visiting teams came to play. Apparently they'd call a hotel and say that they needed 15 or so rooms for 3 nights. (apparently in the independent league, the home team is responsible for accomodiations) So the hotel would be thrilled by the volume, book the rooms and put the Flyers on "terms". Well the Flyers would never pay the bill. They would then keep moving the away team to different hotels in the area who didn't know that the Flyers dont pay on-time, or at all. Towards the end of 2010, the Flyers were booking teams about 20 miles away in Arlington Heights, since they had screwed everyone over in the Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Roselle, Itasca, Medinah areas. -

In case you hadn't heard, Drunk Driving Laws are killing Small Businesses. http://coloradoindependent.com/81829/video...illers%E2%80%99

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) How many small business are truly competing with big box online retailers? two perfect examples. 1) I needed to get a new bulb for my Rear Projection Mitsubishi TV. Small electronics store (not a Best Buy) in downtown Batavia was the same price as on-line, except for the 7.5% sales tax. Since the need was immediate, I bought the bulb from them, however I now have a spare. Bought that one on-line. 2) This spring I need to get a new filter for the Hot Tub. So I have a choice of going to the local pool supply store in town, or on-line. Again, one's going to charge me tax, the other won't.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Gov. Pat Quinn signs bill into law, prompting Amazon.com and Overstock.com to say they will sever all ties with affiliates in state to avoid incurring such taxes. Great idea, Quinn, you f***ing tax happy jackass...all the businesses that relied on Amazon.com and Overstock.com just got f***ed over by a bill you signed, and will produce almost nothing now. back to the subject at hand. I would argue, that Gov Quinn did a good job looking out for the interests of the Illinois small business community. These small businesses who are retail fronts, (brick and mortar) were getting killed by online giants such as Amazon and Overstock who were getting away with not charging sales tax. A laptop computer that was priced at $899 pre-tax at both online and retail stores, ended up costing Illinois consumers $65 extra dollars if they chose to shop locally rather than with a national online re-seller. Take it out a few steps, this hurts the local re-seller who employs local workers. It effects his ability to pay his landlord and effects the local commercial real estate market too. Not to mention the local re-seller's employees and their impact on the economy.

I think this woke a sleeping dog politically, long-term. For years and years, union members were told to be wary of a certain type of Republican who was anti-union. It became like the boy who cried wolf. Nothing ever came of it. So some union members became disengaged or started basing their votes on other issues that they deemed more important. (if they were pro-life, or anti gun-control, etc). I could see the same thing for NRA members. How many years have they been told that Obama, Clinton, etc was going to take away their guns. Years later, nothing happens. Do they do the same thing?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Interesting. I am looking at SUVs and Audi makes a diesel Q7 that I am considering. How is the overall performance, Jason? My wife has the Audi A3 Diesel and I have the VW Jetta Diesel. Performance is great. Has strong power. She originally wanted the Quattro, but I was able to convince her to go TDI instead. I'd suggest test driving both Q7's and see if you can feel the difference. When she bought her Diesel she (we) also got a $1,300 tax credit. I got $650 for the Jetta. Not sure if the tax credit still exists and how much you'd get too. That's a credit, not a deduction.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) Diesel will go up and down about the same as normal gas, but with higher standard deviation because its simply a narrower market. So the changes may be more erratic, and supply problems may be magnified. my wife and i have two diesel cars. she's had hers for a bit over a year. what i've noticed is that diesel prices move slower, in both directions, over time. so as gas prices have gone up recently, it took about 2 months for diesel to go up as much as unleaded. there was a time out in geneva, this past winter, where diesel was cheaper than 87. 3.25 vs 3.29. On the highway, diesel rocks. Drove from Lisle to Gurnee on Friday and got 44mpg's going 75mph. No sacrifices on power, weight or interior.

With Congress Looking to Make Nickel/Dime Cuts
jasonxctf replied to jasonxctf's topic in The Filibuster
well you know, those 32 federally funded abortions in 2010 makes a far greater impact on the budget over that alternative f-35 engine -
i keep beating this drum.. but also look at the clean diesel cars from the german mftrs. (vw, audi, mb, etc) my diesel jetta gets around 10mpg more than the non-diesel. $3.70 for diesel vs $3.50 for normal. Diesel = 9.4 cents/mile Normal= 12.0 cents/mile plus filling up every 550 miles is pretty neat.

no it was 100% serious. I'm saying that across the board, they are looking at the smaller issues/items first, and leaving the heavy hitters for later. -

ex Presidents and their spouses prior to Clinton, get secret service protection for life. A new law was passed back in the mid 90's reducing the # of years post presidency that the protection is given. So, that being said, the Federal Government continues to pay for lifetime secret sevice protection for Presidents and their Spouses prior to Clinton. Why not go back, change the laws, and remove protection for those prior to Clinton? Save some $. -
why not take away secret service protection for... - Betty Ford - Nancy Reagan - Jimmy and Roselyn Carter - George HW and Barbara Bush I'd say leave it for Bill/Hillary due to her being Secretary of State and George W Bush since he was/still is relevant to a certain extent.

Plus, I don't think it was really $250k. It was taxable income above $250k which would be after your deductions. (mortgage, sales tax, property tax, donations, etc)

pay it and call it a day. Consider it a donation to the local township. Oh, and go invest in a radar detector.
