  1. you should receive a yearly report on your own earning credits from Social Security each and every year. I do and I'm 28. By the way, the more you work, the more you get. I've already qualified for SS payouts, but after 7 years of full time work I think my payout by 67 will be $1300 a month. Obviously that will grow as I contribute more. So someone getting a check for $2000 a month probably worked 15 years full time.
  2. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 03:35 AM) $1 Million for Erstad as a bench player. Thats not too bad. beats $4.5 million for a backup SS.
  3. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 02:53 AM) So now the US is supposed to protect every politician in the world who requests protection? Great. 4 trillion dollar deficit here we come! WOOHOO! did i say that i agreed with this. was just pointing out facts.
  4. here's the question for 2008.... does josh fields= joe crede? does josh fields + whatever we receive in trade for Joe Crede= Joe Crede
  5. apparently the US administration has repeatedly denied requests to beef up security around her, per her request, and those on the foreign relations committee. us administration thoughts were that its Musharaff's responsibility to protect her and that his people were to be trusted to carry out that responsibility.
  6. i guess i'm just out of touch here. I don't understand the harsh, hateful feelings towards these illegal immigrants. if they pured sugar in your gas tank while diddling your mother, I would understand. yes, there are bad people amongst those who come over. SOME, not many, steal identities, traffic drugs, etc, etc. But you shouldn't paint with a broad brush and call them all parasites. Many, not some, come to this country for the same reason as your relatives and mine did. They simply want a better life for their families and to achieve the American Dream. Put yourself in their shoes. If this was a very poor country and your family was starving or struggling to get by and you heard about a great opportunity in Canada to make enough $ to support your family... you wouldn't go? Personally, I'd walk across scorching deserts for days to support my family. Even if what I was doing was "illegal".
  7. QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 24, 2007 -> 06:54 AM) Something you don't understand about that statement? im just curious about your position about building a fence along the border of Canada. My memory may be a bit hazzy as it is Monday morning, but I believe none of the 19 hijackers on 9-11 came in from Mexico, correct?
  8. QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) daily invasion of foreign nationals
  9. QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/22/immigrant...e.ap/index.html This is some really good news. It shows what can be accomplished when you drain the swamps ( employers that hire illegals ) that these parasites flock to when they come here. wow, people who are working hard to make money to support their families and put food on their tables are parasites?
  10. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Oh man this is funny. Yeah, good luck with your new country, Lakotans. I don't quite see why the US govt just doesn't absolve all Indian reservations and force them to assimilate. Didn't Peter do this on Family Guy? i hope you're kidding. if not, maybe santa will drop off a history textbook on Monday night.
  11. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I dont think he ever was a VP candidate with Clinton. She wants a close friend or fellow clintonian. Basically, a "yes man". Wesley Clark
  12. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) I think Webb would be a great veep for any of the dems given his qualifications, geography, etc. If Obama can upset Hillary for the nomination, I would love to see him pick Hagel. Though it would never happen, an Obama-Hagel v. McCain-Lieberman would be a solid matchup. I disagree with all of them on a few issues, but they would make their campaign about issues, not throw crap around. that would be a wild matchup... a democrat and a republican (who acts like a democrat) vs a republican and a independent/democrat (who acts like a republican)
  13. QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) What's your criteria for a quality start? I wish baseball used earned run average median, instead of ERA to measure a player's worth. I feel like that'd be more accurate. i believe its 6+ IP with 3 or less ER.
  14. 2007 Quality Start %'s Buehrle 20 out of 30 (66.67%) Vazquez 20 out of 32 (62.50%) Contreras 12 out of 30 (40.0%) Danks 8 out of 26 (30.76%) Floyd 6 out of 10 (60.0%) Garland 21 out of 32 (65.62%)
  15. take a picture of the two of you to www.photofiddle.com. they'll make some cool artwork out of it.
  16. dems will get the additional seats in 08 to make these issues veto proof. +4 Virginia New Hampshire Colorado New Mexico 55-45 will help.
  17. you truly were misunderstood Big Frank.
  18. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Oh wait, maybe it's the Love show. I don't remember. I hate the Beatles, so I'll hate both regardless of whats going on on-stage. What about affordable places to drink? I hear prices are crazy unless you're gambling pretty good and get comp'd drinks. I'm considering the liquor store and our hotel room before we head out. drinks are comped anywhere you play for any amount. If you are at the 1cent machines, you'll get a waitress. (not as often as if you are at the $1 machines however)
  19. i'd take the risk. the upside is far greater than the downside.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) Those are great lists Jason! A couple more things to tack on, the top of the stratosphere is a great view of everything, and not too expensive, plus the roller coaster up there is neat. Also the pirate show at Treasure Island is legendary. Finally skip anything Cirque De Soule if you are a straight male. yeah that Treasure Island show is pretty neat. Mirage is ok. Bellagio is interesting too.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) If you are a nature person at all, Red Rock canyon about 20 miles east of Vegas is just incredible. Lots of hiking and climbing that can be done out there. ATV rides in the desert are a ton of fun too.
  22. i go to vegas 1-2 times per year. Stayed at a lot of places, including the Westin. It's weird because they allow Dogs in the hotel. Small casino so you'll probably want to play elsewhere. Westin table games don't open until nightime. Go play at Ballys/Paris instead. Watch out for the "ladies of the night" at the bar. Some are tranies too. If you do play at the Westin, sign up for the players card. They do good with comps. downtown is overrated. It takes forever to get there (Especially at nighttime), and isn't that cool. Kind of slummy down there too. Watch your wallet. On the strip, I really enjoy playing at Paris, Ballys and Mirage. Caesars is pretty cool too. Fun non-gambling things to do... * Check out the Caesars Mall, including the new portion with the winding escalator. * Check out Caesars pool, its pretty neat. * See if Pete Rose is signing autographs. He's been there the last 3 times I was in Vegas. (My buddies and I wanted to get him to sign a MLB line sheet but thought that was in poor taste) * If you're there on a Sunday or Saturday, hang out in a Sportsbook and take in a day's worth of Football/Basketball. * Aladdin/Planet Hollywood is pretty cool at night. Quite the party. * If you're into Casino hopping, the Wynn and the Mandalay Bay are worth checking out. * Ride the trams... your feet with thank you later * Buffets are pretty expensive now. The days of the $5 all you can eat are long gone. (And probably the places that offer this, you don't want to eat at anyway) * Bellagio fountain is cool. * Check out the free coupon books on-line or at the casinos. Lots of Free Food deals. (Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, etc) * Hooters Casino can be fun to hang out at. * Palms casino is overrated. They have the Playboy tower/club but I think its $40 just to get in. HAVE A GREAT TIME. I LOVE LAS VEGAS.
  23. I can only think of 2 other big league OF's who came over... Ichiro and Matsui. Am I forget anyone who flopped?
  24. Kenny's just going to take his ball and go home. He's either too stubborn, stupid or smart to pay what the market has set for a Free Agent CF. I also feel really bad for Buehrle and Dye. After taking "hometown" discounts to give KW the $ to spend, they've gotten screwed on some serious promises.
