  1. He seems like a good number 2 hitter. Gordon's gotta feel the pressure a little. I like the way he plays defense, but if Sanchez is good with the glove and can hit .280, I don't see how the Sox can not go with him over Beckham next year. Not right away, but if Beckham blows like he has the first half, he's in trouble. Even if it is an empty .280 AVG, that looks way better at what is currently in the 9th spot.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) Tommy Viola ‏@Tommy_the_V Today's @KnightsBaseball roster moves: Justin Greene back from Birmingham, Damaso Espino activated off the DL, and Jose Lopez a Knight. I think that's a good move by the Sox to get Lopez. He's much better option in September off the bench than Olmedo is, hitting wise at least.
  3. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Robin started Olmedo over Hudson today, what does that tell you? Olmedo can play more positions than Hudson anyway. Mike Fontenot should replace Hudson on the roster like yesterday. I took that as Olmedo has been on this team since 7/29 and played in a whopping 1 game, and as a pinch runner. Robin was probably just giving him some playing time.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) Sanchez just turned 20 years old and already is walking at a 53-per-162-game season clip. Whereas Escobar couldn't hit a lick, Sanchez is proving he can while also showing solid patience at the plate. The guy has a very bright future, most likely at second base where he can be an above-average offensive second baseman. He seems like a perfect leadoff or number two hitter. I view Sanchez as the Sox version of Jose Altuve. They seem pretty similar in my opinion.
  5. 3B Jeff Baisley was released too. That clears a spot for Wise.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) After being optioned to Charlotte, Brent Morel was reassigned. Well, Charlotte's roster seems to be overflowing right now. But why wouldn't they just release someone else like Baisley?
  7. I don't see how Fontenot can be any better/worse than what to expect out of Olmedo. If he falls to the Sox, they should pick him up.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Infante + Sanchez - Turner vs. Liriano + Youkilis - bucket of balls. Sox win. Fixed that for you.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) Have we heard the Sox mentioned even once yet today? I don't think we have. It's been WAAAAAAAy quiet from the Sox front office so far...... It's ridiculously quite. I at least expected an upgrade for the bench. Does this team really stick with Ray Olmedo as the backup infielder?
  10. With Soto traded to Texas, I wonder if KW has been looking at Yorvit Torrealba as a slight upgrade to Flowers. I don't know the reasons behind why Texas decided to get rid of him, but he's at least hitting over the Mendoza line.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Justin Greene was placed on the inactive list. Last time that happened it was Pedro Hernandez and was the pre-cursor to the Liriano deal. Interesting. Looks like KW is following the theme this year and trading no one of value to make the team better.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Sounds to me like Viciedo and Reed are gone. I would HATE to lose both of those. And if the Sox had to give one of those guys up, I don't know how one could argue keeping Reed over Viciedo. Between the two, Viciedo has a greater impact on the future than Reed does.
  13. Wow, fire sale indeed. I wonder who else goes.
  14. Hope for Q 2.0? It's amazing how many rookies this team is calling up compared to last year.
  15. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 01:14 AM) Simon Castro will be activated from the DL and start on the 15th for Charlotte. Did they ever say what was wrong with him in the first place?
  16. Deunte Heath is getting called up according to twitter with Crain going on the D.L. Edit: It was the @SouthSideSox twitter feed.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) White Soxman Breaking News: Former #WhiteSox 1B\OF Carlos Lee has been traded to the #Dodgers. Lee has veto rights so we will see if he accepts. #Astros He's staying an Astro. Used his veto powers.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Simon Castro pitched his way onto the DL. Oh great, any word on what's wrong?
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) FWIW, Crain is now unavailable until at least Sunday, he hopes to avoid DL. per the beat guys. Looks like Heath could see some MLB action soon.
  20. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:28 PM) Except Danks hasn't really been good for a long time. And by "good", I mean better than a fourth starter. Danks has been hurting all season and it's pretty clear that's why he's been so bad.
  21. If Robin got creative when he called him out of the pen, he could do a thumbs up/thumbs down motion like the emperor did in Gladiator. Similar to what Guillen did for Jenks way back when.
  22. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 11:42 PM) Any chance SOX are in the process of trading for someone? I thought that too, anything is possible with KW.
  23. I feel like they are going to call up Septimo, but those BB/9 numbers are downright scary at 4.7...
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 07:54 PM) Cross out Dunn. He might go to the Derby, but not as an all-star. I thought HR Derby participants need to be All-Stars.
  25. Stewart for Youkilis? That is a great move if you ask me. Stewart has proven he can't pitch at the MLB level.
