  1. Septimo must really be hurt. Wouldn't be surprised is he's on his way to TJ. 60-Day D.L. for a strain seems really steep.
  2. I'd say Taylor Thompson is a guy to keep an eye on. I know he's 25 and just now getting in Birmingham, but I think he could end up being a solid guy out of the pen. The Sox seem to be using him as a closer too, so that must say something about his composure on the mound.
  3. IDK why, maybe it was because it was my first game of the year, but I thought there was a slightly more upbeat atmosphere at the park than last year. The staff seemed friendlier. I kind of felt like they were really trying a little harder. But it would be nice if the attendance improved from last year. Finally give the organization something to not BS about.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 10:03 AM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 10h Sunday, Adam Dunn broke the tie with Ron Kittle and now has 46 three-strikeout games in a White Sox uniform; most from 1916-current And just think... Kittle played 8 seasons with the Sox. Dunn has tied him in 2 1/2! I'll admit, I loved the Dunn signing at the time - a guy who averages 40+ HR from the left side and 100 BB's should have been a huge boost to the team. I didn't care about the 200 K's. I gave him a break from that awful first year, and was very content with what he did last year, but this has got to stop now. Drop him in the order already. The HR's aren't there. The BB's aren't there. The Sox need to at least be discussing this at some level. They don't have to flat out release him at this very moment, but if he doesn't turn it around he really does not belong on this team at the end of the year. Call me crazy, but I'd rather see what some like like Seth Loman's got. He can't do worse than Dunn. Hell, have a rotating DH for all I care with Keppinger, Gillaspie, and Beckham. Dunn is making Dye look good during that post All-Star Break collapse back in 2009.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) I just don't trust he will ever amount to more than a backup or utility infielder type. He doesn't impress me. Even if that's his future, I'll take it. When's the last time the Sox had a nice solid UTIL guy off the bench? The last few years, I think that has hurt the Sox.
  6. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:58 PM) Outfielder Jordan Danks will be promoted from Triple-A Charlotte to join the Sox on Wednesday. -- Gonzo Why? Seriously makes no sense unless someone is hurt in the OF.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 08:11 AM) Thompson and Sanchez have put up nice numbers to start the year out of the Barons' pen too. While some of the hitters have been off to disappointing starts, a lot of our pitchers have had promising starts to the year at least I read somewhere Thompson is a guy to watch this year, seems like he could be a sleeper. Not anything major, but a nice piece in the pen.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) Don't get me wrong, I go back and forth on the subject myself. However, maybe with toolsy prospects it makes more sense to rush them against better pitching before they develop bad against bad pitching and find it harder to make adjustments. Thompson is a great example, as he struggled at first in A+ but was awesome in the 2nd half. That's a good point. I never really thought of that, but he did figure things out last year it seems. Double-A is still the real jump though. Hawkins is still young enough too that he's got time. If he's really struggling like this a month from now, I'd be surprised if the Sox kept him in W-S.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) No roster spot. Could always slide Danks over to the 60. That would put him back around middle of June right? I don't know how quickly he seems to be coming back, but if I were the Sox I sure as hell wouldn't rush him. The extra BP arm sounds like a good plan too.
  10. Call up Greene. Perfect bench guy IMO. I wouldn't call up Sanchez quite yet.
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Gio had a solid minor league development pattern when we threw him in the Oakland-Swisher deal. He was major league ready when Oakland got him. Bad trade, I hated it immediately, but that's old news. But, speaking of that trade, has anyone picked up Ryan Sweeney after the Bosox cut him last month? Sweeney is in Triple-A for the Cubs.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) Buddy Bell made it clear that they weren't happy with their infield depth or quality at the minor league level. I guess them bringing in more live bodies makes some sense. I think that's what the Greene signing shows. At least they finally have a second option to Angel Sanchez if he doesn't work out.
  13. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 07:14 PM) Did Brackman make it onto any roster or is he even around anymore? Matt Lane? Oester? Totally forgot about Brackman. If you really want to know you could always try Oester's twitter. I actually got a response from Reckling last night.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) Good catch. I saw Sierra, but Carroll was one of those guys floating around. Kyle Bellamy is probably on a DL somewhere too. It's a shame about him. I thought he had a good chance. Carroll had TJ last offseason, so he's done for the year easily. Morrison, Oester, and Andy Gonzalez seem to be floaters as well. More likely they all got released. I don't see a fit anywhere for them.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Maybe they have to cut some people? There's quite a few that need to be cut. I just can't believe they are waiting last minute. Not that it's a big deal, I just like paying attention to the minors.
  16. Seems like someone is sour over losing one of the biggest-to-be FA out there to Jay-Z, haha.
  17. 1B Randy Ruiz, OF Cyle Hankerd, OF Darian Sandford were released according to BA if anyone was wondering. Still leaves a log jam of players in Charlotte. Isn't weird they haven't released the roster and the first game is tomorrow?
  18. So great to see a 1-0 victory against a team that killed the Sox last year. Sale looks damn good.
  19. Omogrosso and Moskos are headed to Charlotte per their twitter accounts. DeMichile is going to W-S. Not really anything unexpected.
  20. I guess we know for sure where he's going to be starting.
  21. I don't I like they got rid of the retired numbers on the OF wall. I always thought that was really neat. They better not have removed "The Catch."
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Yeah, I'm not sure what goes into that. Like, why did they option Jordan Danks and Blake Tekotte at the same time, but they've brought Brandon Short and Stefan Gartrell up from minor league since then? Don't know. I would think so Danks and Tekotte can get regular work in. Gartrell is Triple-A fodder, and Short is behind a long list of guys for a back-up OF spot.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin Crain said today continues to feel better. But after throwing on the side, he was not ready to pitch in the Minor League game As we get closer to opening day, the more and more I feel like he is starting the season on the D.L. Makes that Lindstrom signing all that more important, but not having Crain does weaken the Sox bullpen.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) Anyone hear anything about Septimo? Wondering the same thing. He's not that important really to the team's success, but I wonder what's wrong.
