Interesting to say the least. I’m not thrilled about moving both those guys, but those are some interesting names.

I could totally see that, I just think some guys really needed to show more than they have so far this season. I really wish we would have seen more out of Gonzalez and Rutherford in the first half. Adolfo, Burger, and Lambert being hurt lowers them considerably for me. I can't think of a guy who failed to have a single AB for over 2 years actually turn around and become a legitimate contributor. Not trying to Burger bash - I actually really like the guy - I'm just not sure how he can really be considered anywhere higher than 15 at the moment.

I'm sure he can to some degree, but it might be easier for him to better communicate his thoughts speaking Spanish. Ichiro used to do it all the time.

I honestly look at this more as possible leverage against Abreu signing an extension, rather than Abreu being marked as trade bait. I'd be shocked if Abreu is moved. Jimenez and Moncada have already praised him this year for helping them. Matt Skole is literally the next legitimate, pure 1B in line if Abreu goes down. I would think that Alonso was supposed to be that guy, but we all know how that ended up. Probably signals the Sox also realize Palka and Collins are not long term solutions at 1B. Low-risk, high reward type of move. Regardless, I'd expect nothing to really come of it.

I was just going to say something similar. It almost seems like you could say he’s being showcased for playoff contenders that he can go multiple innings. With the way playoff teams used their relievers last year, Colome has had success. Probably not the case, but you never know.

Collins absolutely should be getting regular AB's. You can easily work Abreu, Palka, and Collins into the same lineup without risking losing the DH later in the game. So stupid.
