  1. He's probably has heard that the Sox are more open to trading what we are labeling as coveted players than we all think. Other than Robert, I would not be completely surprised if they have Vaughn or Madrigal available for pitching. Gonna be an interesting next few days.
  2. Agreed, was only posting it to keep the convo going. "14 mins" is laughable.
  3. Until Vaughn forces the issue, he's not a part of the big league roster yet. There are still other scenarios where he is used as a trade chip or simply does not make it. I don't think that is the likely outcome (not is that my preference for how the organization handles him), but I also don't think that you can write his name at 1B in pen.
  4. Why do we think this is a forgone conclusion he'd end up in RF? Maybe the Sox don't want to have McCann/Collins as the DH solution? Rosters will be at 26 next year and that additional player must be a position player.
  5. Seems odd they would flat out deny it though. If you couldn’t confirm it I would think you stay quite instead of jumping to a conclusion.
  6. Yea I agree. Need a better source to confirm/deny this.
  7. If this is legit I feel like we’ll know fairly soon. Kind of meh on this only because the thought of Ozuna in RF makes me ??
  8. There’s no way the Sox are serious about Ozuna as a RF. He hasn’t played there in years. If they get him it has to be for DH.
  9. I think I can live with something a long the lines of a 3 year deal if it ends up being him. Not exactly my first choice, but he's better than Covey, Despaigne, Detwiler, etc. I can't imagine Keuchel is going to be anything more than a 4/5 coming back to the AL. Damn do I wish Wheeler could have been locked up.
  10. Doesn't even mention Bum. I think he's right that Keuchel is most likely.
  11. It was a weird one. Not sure wtf the Marlins were thinking with that one.
  12. If this was true, I'd make that deal. Man, trading for Gallen and somehow coming away with Rendon with Moncada back to 2B would be amazing. I really like Madrigal, but Gallen is legit good IMO.
  13. Interesting. Seems like this is a yearly occurrence the past few years. He is out of options, so the Sox will have to try to sneak him through waivers if the want to let him get work in Charlotte.
  14. Then wait a year and get him next offseason. Everyone on this board hated the idea of trading for Machado for 3 months, but loves the idea of Betts? It doesn’t make sense to give the Red Sox players for a rental that isn’t going to push you over the top.
  15. I’m 100% against trading for Betts. This is not a situation where’s he’s the final piece to the puzzle. I would consider it a massive waste to hand over prospect capital (and the Sox don’t have a whole lot to work with as-is) to acquire him in order to *maybe* win the division and then ultimately end up with another hole in RF entering into 2021.
  16. And spend some time on the DL
  17. Who wants to get Snell? Kidding... (but not really).
  18. This is not true. Vasquez is a much better fielder/framer than McCann. He also had a very nice breakout year offensively.
  19. I totally forgot Boras was his agent. There's different levels of risk/reward with every one of these guys. If I'm giving someone a contract, I want them to be on the field. I'm also not entirely convinced you have to go out and get a 1/2, nor force a signing and shoehorn it into that role for the competitive window. Wheeler totally fit that mold which is why he was such a great fit, and why it sucked so much they missed on him. But at the same time, you have to hope this team already has their 1/2 in some combination of Giolito/Kopech/Cease. Anything the Sox add this offseason should be to plug holes and add the missing complementary players. If the Sox core fails, it doesn't matter who you bring in (especially with this FA class) - they aren't going to be competitive.
