  1. I think we'll see some more deals, but it won't be anything huge or significant. Sox don't have much to work with with trades. Literally half the prospect capital they have was hurt last year. Hard to make deals when everyone has suppressed value due to TJ.
  2. Glad this got posted. Unbelievable what he went through. Great to see he was able to overcome everything as well.
  3. That would be interesting to consider. Opens the door to trade Madrigal for SP then.
  4. A platoon of McCann/Collins on paper does match up. Obviously, this is dependent on Collins being able to show he can stick consistently in the MLB. He's career splits in the minors against RHP is not terrible. If you have to play McCann 80% of the time at DH, then of course there's probably a hole there.
  5. Go the trade route IMO. Better off signing bats at this point.
  6. Not sure if she's implying something about the Sox, or if this is just worded poorly and reads that way. Fucking Drake LaRoche strikes again!
  7. Verlander went to the Astros - one of the most if not THE most advanced analytical teams in the MLB. Now compare that move to the Sox, from pitchers park to hitters park, and from NL to AL.
  8. We also have no clue is he's even willing to leave the West coast. Clearly location plays a part if someone would choose New Fucking Jersey/Philly over Chicago.
  9. I agree, but I don't even think Ryu is a great option given his age and terrible record of staying on the field. I don't see 32 yr. old + pitchers being much help to the contention "window" that is supposed to be starting 2021-22. When the time comes you'll actually rely on these guys they are going to be broken or starting to have regression hit their performance.
  10. I don't know if you could get a starting pitcher without giving up a pitcher in return. So many of the Sox minor league hitters had mediocre seasons, not much value to work with right now. I fear Stiever may be used as trade bait, and I'm not all that sold on selling him.
  11. This would be a terrible signing if it happened. He is going to get lit the fuck up in GRF. 2019 Road Splits vs. Righties: 5.23 xFIP 49% Hard Hits .365 wOBA ???
  12. Why the hell are they interviewing a former Cubs player on the White Sox podcast? Terrible idea. I know the offseason is slow, but this is the best they could do?
  13. Yep. I think people should look more at his last two seasons in Texas than what he did with the Cubs. His FIP and xFIP point to signs of him being a lot worse than he's shown.
  14. Absolutely they would benefit from a former ace like him - I just think it could be a James Shields 2.0 situation all over again. Hamels benefitted greatly by going to the NL, IMO. He had a mediocre 2017 and terrible 2018 with the Rangers (before being traded). I think that's the version the Sox would be signing up for if they brought him in, and at age 36 for the 2020 season, I don't think we're looking at a workhorse that is going to eclipse 150 IP. I'd rather go in a different direction than buy into a guy a year too late.
  15. Well that's odd. He was pretty clear he wanted to go to a contender. I honestly want nothing to do with the guy either. His arm is going to fall off at some point.
  16. Didn't he have issues with his shoulder all year in Charlotte too?
