Sox sign CF Gorkys Hernandez to minor league deal
Charlotte needs a CF'er. Allows Basabe to repeat at Birmingham until he proves he's ready.

MLB THE SHOW: 20
You will be able to start a franchise on release day if you choose. Which is awesome. I wouldn't go so far to say they will never be made again. The need for new, additional players is always going to be there. Regardless, I got you covered for the Sox - I always post guys to the vault individually.

MLB THE SHOW: 20
This is my own guess, but I believe this has more to do with an agreement between Sony and the MiLB. So it’s probably a clause in their contracts.

Yoan Moncada switches agents
Extension would definitely be nice. Whats crazy is out of out of Moncada, Abreu, Robert, and Eloy, he is the least paid. I wonder if that could be a factor to motivate him to sign an extension knowing full well he is the best player out of that list (at this point).

MLB THE SHOW: 20
Posting this case anyone didn’t see this yet. I can confirm that we collaborated with San Diego Studios on the rosters. Definitely watch the live stream tomorrow for full details. If you weren’t planning on getting the game I would seriously consider changing your mind now.

Sox were interested in Kipnis?
Miller wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. A lefty bat off the bench with pop that can play 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF and RF. I think people forget he hit 30 bombs back in 2016.

KW says "no Puig"
This all looks good on paper but there is a very big aspect missing. It seems to me that a lot of people are automatically assuming that Puig has interest to come to Chicago and play for the Sox. Let's just say he was willing to take a $5M MLB deal - why would the Sox be his only offer at that value? I'm sure there are many teams that would be willing to take the same risk/reward with Puig on such a deal, but be able to offer him much more consistent playing time. From a career standpoint, at least in my opinion, Puig would be a fool to take a prove-it type deal to sit on the bench. Especially when he is statistically a reverse splits player and the majority of his playing time would come against LHP. If Puig suddenly decided $5M is the best he can so, other teams can and will offer the same low-cost deal as the Sox to get him and actually allow him to re-build his value back.

Sox Have Deal for Norge Vera - 2020 Class
Definitely top 10 territory then, at least in my opinion (I consider both Dalquist/Thompson in that range). Sox farm system may not be all that bad come the end of the year after top top graduates with additions of Vera and whomever they get in the draft.

KW says "no Puig"
I never said it was worse - don't twist my response. If you don't think that proves that he has issues being a professional, then I don't what else to say regarding the matter. You obviously have your mind made up about him. He's a problematic personality with incredibly replacement-level production.

KW says "no Puig"
Puig was fired by his own agent back in 2018. Do you know how hard that is? Other notable players fired by their agents: Johnny Manziel (2x) and Antonio Brown.

MLB THE SHOW: 20
Not sure where you heard that, but Ridin is still overseeing everything. He doesn’t really post anymore on OS. But I can let you know we’ve been working on the Full Minors roster the same as we always do this time of the year.

MLB THE SHOW: 20
That would be me. Typically it gets released a week or two after the game drops.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
To each his own. I personally wouldn’t waste my time with that account. Literally no one else even slightly reputable has even acknowledged it, so I’d be confident saying 100% chance this is BS.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
No chance this is real. This just confirms that they were incredibly lucky with guessing part of the Betts deal.

Betts to Dodgers
Because of Kenta Maeda? I'm not overly concerned with him. He is far from a sure bet coming into the AL, and he has finished in the bullpen the past 2 seasons. He's not the massive upgrade to their team considering the pretty nice piece given up to get him. Is he an upgrade from what they had? Yes. But Donaldson is a much bigger name to fear than Maeda, IMO. Twins always were the team to beat, but I would still take the Sox rotation on potential alone for 2021+ than what the Twins currently have penciled in to their rotation.
-
Betts to Dodgers
He definitely isn't someone I would call dependable or an innings eater. He always ends the year in the bullpen, which I guess helps the Twins because theoretically they are getting Pineda and Hill back at some point. But still, they gave up a lot for a guy who isn't exactly a wow arm.

Betts to Dodgers
The Twins just gave up their best pitching prospect for Maeda? That seems odd.

Let's talk about the spring training hat
And here I thought the players' weekend uniforms (except the Sox) were bad... Every ST hat design blows chunks this year. New Era managed to find a fucking moron to come up with those. You can't make out what any of those designs are supposed to be. I'm almost insulted as a designer that someone was paid to come up with those.

Field of Dreams Tickets
I did talk to someone at Soxfest about this. I would not get your hopes up. I got the impression these are not going to be available to the general public, and if they are you're looking at a very small quantity so get ready to pay up.

Is Mookie Betts a real option for the Sox with payroll history??
I do. Don't give away any assets for a rental player that doesn't put you over the top, especially when all three assets have suppressed value due to injuries or poor performance. Regardless, the Red Sox would laugh at that package. Look at the Machado trade to LA for a rough estimate of where to start, and that was for only 2 months. It isn't worth it for our Sox to go down this road.

Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
We can only hope they must see some adjustment they feel they can make for him to get him to the next level. There is always a chance he could improve slightly against them to be passable, though I would think he's most likely going to struggle given the statistical history. He did show improvement in the second half once he quieted down his stance - I wonder if he faired better against lefties once those changes took place. Regardless, Stoney and the Sox aren't going to paint any type of narrative that they don't believe in Mazara before he takes a swing in a Sox uniform. Thankfully Leury is at least acceptable against lefties, so he wouldn't be a terrible Plan B if no one else is brought in.

Goose Island Sox Golden Ale
Had a chance to try this at SoxFest in the Goose Island setup they had there. It's pretty good. The description in the article for how it tastes is definitely spot on. Can't say it's amazing enough that I'd drink it every time, but it is good enough to be in rotation to change things up. The people working there said it would be on sale in stores a little after the start of the season FWIW.

SoxFest
Got quite a few actually, but it was a lot tougher than years past. Coolest things I managed to get signed were a Kopech signed Majestic jersey (they were 35% off at the team store), and a black Louisville Slugger bat with Robert, Moncada, Grandal, and Eloy.

A look back at the perfecto
I did something similar with Buehrle's perfecto. I was 45 minutes late to a meeting with an admissions advisor for Elmhurst college because I did not want to turn off the radio in my car. They didn't find it amusing, and also happened to be a Cubs fan. Didn't make much difference though, I still ended up going there.
