QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Baseball's gods gave the Sox the win after listening to Boston's crew mocking Putnam and saying he "deserved to lose." If anybody else was listening, those Bah-ston announcers were brutal in blasting the Sox. Serves them right to not score that run and wind up losing. The White Sox ... can't win a game in the Central (cept against the AAA Twins once in a while) but usually play OK against everybody else, albeit Washington and the Yankees pasted Chicago pretty good this season. I was also stuck listening to the BoSox broadcast and man was it bad. The play by play guy was alright but the color guy seemed to be a bigger homer than Hawk. Every splitter Putnam threw he ranted about how anybody who throws that many splitters deserves to lose. I almost turned the volume off. He did atleast give Duke some praise so I'll give him credit for that.

Robin Ventura should definitely, certainly be fired today
lasttriptotulsa replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) I heard a stat that Francona has had a +.500 record in 11 straight seasons - but hey, don't worry - you don't need experience. Ask Robin. As much as I love AJ - and I think he could be a good manager. Blunt, honest, firery, smart, been a long, long time catcher - I just don't want the Sox to hire him. Give me someone with experience please. Or a fresh mind set. I'm completely done with this team - like done done. Awful Francona didn't start winning until his 5th year as a manager when he joined the Red Sox. The Red Sox teams he managed had a top 5 payroll every year he was there. Robin is just now in his 5th year managing and has had no higher than the 12th highest payroll. Over Francona's first 4 years he went 285-363 (.439), Robin has gone 297-351 (.458) through his first 4 years and nearly won the division in his first year. If the Sox had Francona during his Phillies days you guys would have the exact same complaints. -
Tim Anderson Called up...Rollins DFA'd

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) The way things have been going for the White Sox ... poor Anderson will be nervous and have several errors in the first inning and we'll get our asses kicked by the Royals and the fans will boo as they did Shields. Hate to be so negative but the Sox do that to you. Who are you trying to kid, you love to be negative. -
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Yeah Gonzalez has been earning his spot, hasn't he? One bright spot... Yeah he definitely has. He had a bit of a rough going in his first start but since has put a 2.83 ERA with a 1.200 WHIP. Can't expect anything more out of a guy that we picked up for a song.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) The White Sox organization is such a joke. Your posts lately have become a joke.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) Man, this whole thing has me really doubting Hahn for the first time. Middle of the order bat? What? You're immediately claiming that he's going to be a middle of the order bat when he comes off the DL? That's your plan? Holy f***. And while $1 million is the right price, he isn't going to be ready until mid-late July? I was really hoping this team had much more urgency than that. That is super disappointing. This move does nothing to preclude them from making additional deals. I honestly think this is a back up plan in case they are unable to land a bigger bat by the deadline. If they do they cut Morneau loose and are out very little.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Lillian has to be somewhat pleased. Left handed middle of the order bat. I'm sure it's bittersweet though since it's not Grady Sizemore.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Guess I'm a clown then. Always wanted to be a clown! Just like our manager, Robin Ventura. Well at least you accept it.
-
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Well f*** it, let's sign Robin to a lifetime contract then! CHOO CHOO!!!!! Who the hell said that. If this team misses the playoffs this year he will more than likely be rightfully gone. You're a clown if you think changing the manager and leaving the roster the same is going to change anything in the middle of the season.
-
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) Lol. You people are so ridiculous. Ridiculous for thinking that players have a lot more to do with winning and losing than the manager? I guess I'm ridiculous then. The difference between the best manager and the worst is only a few wins per season.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Its just sad. The Sox have nobody in the minors they trust to bring up, nobody on the big league squad who can do anything...only place they have to go is the dumpster. Take your Sox hatred blinders off. This is absolutely the right move to make. The guy won a batting title two years ago and was hitting over .300 last year before he was hurt. $1 million is chump change in MLB. If he sucks you cut him loose, no big loss.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) The fall guy yet Ventura survives. I must have missed all those starts where Ventura was pitching to the tune of a 5.50 FIP.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Can we DFA Robertson too? How about Albers? God PLEASE can Duke be sent packing? Can we DFA you? Hopefully WSI will claim you.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Great! Eleven years ago. Three World Series appearances in the last 100 YEARS. Hey we're TOTALLY successful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's put it another way, the Miami Marlins have won two World Series in a shorter period of time. Mark Nobody's talking about the Marlins or the past hundred years. You are acting as if the Twins of the '00s, the Tigers of the '00s and '10s and the Indians of the '90s were much more successful than the Sox since the '90s. And the fact of the matter is none of those teams won a World Series. Making the playoffs doesn't mean s*** unless you win it all. Winning a World Series trumps everything. Would you trade the '05 World Series for the Tigers 2 appearances and a couple additional playoff appearances? I highly doubt it.
-
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) And by "gutting" their farm system it appears they went to the World Series twice and the playoffs what four times in the last eight years? I'd take that in a New York minute. They took their turn dominating the division much like the Indians in the 90's and the Twins in the 00's and maybe the Royals right now. Geez...I wonder who is missing from that group? Mark Who is missing from that group? I don't know, maybe the only Central Division team other than the Royals to win a World Series in your given time frames.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) That 3.53 FIP screams ace During his two seasons with the Royals he was 20th in all of baseball in fWAR. That is pretty damn good.

6/1/16 Game Thread - White Sox @ Mets

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) If you have 2 runners on base with 1 out and then the next two batters get out without driving them in, then that counts as 4 runners left on base. Not when referring to a team's LOB. That only counts the runners on at the end of the inning. Adding up all the runners each batter LOB is worthless and I'm not even sure why they add it up in the box score. -
Cashing in on Todd Frazier at the deadline?

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) Asking where the ignore button is is trolling or accusing someone of trolling. It's complete garbage. Eh no it's not necessarily. There are posters on here whose posts I ignore but it's not because I think they're trolling it's just that I think they're annoying. -
Cashing in on Todd Frazier at the deadline?
lasttriptotulsa replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Depends whether or not we feel this team is for real as a post season threat. If this team continues to be terrible, anything is on the table, IMHO. I laugh when people call this trolling. It's a fair question. The team is not terrible. They had a bad couple weeks, it happens. Out of the 7 game losing streak, 5 were by one or two runs. As it is they are on pace to win 86 games which should have them right in the hunt. Also you are the first person to mention trolling in this thread. -
Saladino could be getting more time at SS
lasttriptotulsa replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) I was on the Rollins train as much as anyone... but at this point, Saladino has proven himself to be the better player. We don't know where Saladino's ceiling is, but we know exactly where Rollins is. Moreover, Saladino is outhitting and outdefending Rollins. He should be getting all of the starts. It's ridiculous that Robin doesn't have the guts to sit to Rollins just because he's a decorated veteran. I can't say enough bad things about Ventura. Saladino hasn't proven anything. Before the last 3 games he was a negative fWAR player and had a whopping .571 OPS. More than 50 points less than Rollins on the season. He didn't all the sudden become a good Major Leaguer because he had 3 straight good games. -
A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
lasttriptotulsa replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ron883 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:14 AM) Hate to say it, but I told you all so. I don't want him to fail, I could just tell by how poorly he looked. Abreu has been pure trash this year. You didn't tell us s***. There is still 4 months left in the season. And it's pretty clear you're hoping he fails. Just keep on trolling. -
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:51 AM) If we were to give up anything more than EJ for him I will be very pissed. EJ might actually be better than him. Seattle's offense isn't even good. They are 2nd in runs/game, 2 in OPS and 1st in HRs in the AL. What exactly is your standard for qualifying as good?

5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
lasttriptotulsa replied to hogan873's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) I know this sounds terrible but i want them to win on one hand but on the other hand i want robin gone. I'm sorry but that is such a ludicrous viewpoint to have as a fan. It's one thing to be willing to lose late in the season so changes are made or a better draft pick is to be had but it is f***ing May 31 and they are just 2 games back despite losing 7 in a row. I swear some of you people like to see them fail just so you have something to whine about and it really makes it a chore to even visit this board at times. -

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) You would rather see Rollins? Rollins has hit lefties to a 1.300 OPS clip this year. Obviously a small sample size but if there's a time you want him in the lineup it's against lefties.
