  1. I don't get why people even talk of trading Quintana and Sale. They are proven starting pitchers that are locked up incredibly cheap for the next several seasons which is exactly what we need for our rebuild. Frankly it gets a little old that the discussion is seemingly brought up every few weeks. Even if the Sox were to trade them, it would be for multiple top prospects who at best one would turn out as good as Sale or Quintana. So what the hell would be the point in trading them and taking the risk?
  2. Thanks to Donaldson's walk off homer, the Sox are now just 4 games back of the Tigers (7 in the loss column). They've picked up 5 games in the standings in the last 10 games played.
  3. Wow. Excellent play and game by Saad. Were still alive fellas!
  4. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...=espnapi_public “He’ll wait the five [games],” Ventura said. “It’s at the point where he’s coming back and doing what he’s doing. There’s no reason to [pitch any earlier].”
  5. I always find it funny when a grown ass man has no idea how to throw a baseball.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 28, 2014 -> 06:52 AM) There aren't any pitchers expected back from the DL that soon, are there? Seems like he's a good bet to reach that 12 days and probably more. If he can prove to be even respectable out of the pen, he should stay. The team really doesn't have a long man and with Rienzo, Danks and Noesi making up 3/5ths of our rotation we really need a guy that can take it on the chin and eat some innings when those three inevitably lay an egg.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 27, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) You guys think it will be suspended or they will start it all over? The only time they pick up a game where it left off at a later date is if it were tied after at least 5 innings.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 27, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) I pretty much called this... I know Jeter would win SS and Cabrera and probably Pujols would be above Abreu Wow. Way to go out on a limb there.
  9. Only in Greg's world is a .270 hitter with 35 HR worth just $5 milliin per year.
  10. Is this a joke? Other than about the first ten starts this year the shark has been average at best. Sale is a bonafide ace. Sure he has some injury issues, but what pitcher doesnt these days.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) Suspended games turn history on its head MLB · 10 hrs ago · Suspended games turn history on its head Summary It's all in the Major League Baseball rule book. The Reds traded Griffey to the White Sox on July 31 that season, so when the suspended game resumed Aug. 25, Griffey was called on to hit for Brady Anderson in the bottom of the 14th inning of the game the White Sox lost, 4-3. http://www.veooz.com/news/5HCrb7P.html That's supposed to say Brian Anderson. It's kind of funny looking at Griffey's game log from 2008 on Baseball Reference. It has a line before April 28th that says "Player went from Cincinnati Reds to Chicago White Sox" and then a line after April 28th that says "Player went from Chicago White Sox to Cincinnati Reds". Makes it look like he was traded three times that year.
  12. Looking at Buehrle's stats for the past 365 days really shows that he's been on a good run for awhile. Over the past year his stat line goes as follows 33GS, 19-8, 3.01 ERA, 209.1 IP, 6 K/9, 2.73 K/BB. Thats a pretty lengthy stretch of dominance for a guy who most have never considered an ace.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:55 PM) Barring a bad 9th inning by the Jays pen, Buehrle 8-1, 2.16 Won at Fenway. Unbelievable. While I'm sure at some point he will come back down to Earth and end up with a typical Buehrle season, it would be awesome to see him 20 wins and a sub 3.00 ERA at the end of the season. He's come close but never accomplished either feat.
  14. And of course it's a WCIU game so I can't watch.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) I will fight for this title! Me as well. Aside from Buehrle, Dunn is my favorite player in MLB.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 19, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) IIRC, Vargas is always good against us. If a 6.31 ERA and a 1.486 WHIP is good, then yes he's been great against us.
  17. 1. Beckham - 4 2. Gillaspie - 5 3. Abreu - DH 4. Dunn - 3 5. Viciedo - 7 6. Ramirez - 6 7. De Aza - 8 8. Flowers - 2 9. Sierra - 9
  18. 3 against the Astros could be just what we need to get on a roll.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) Exactly on the salary dump regarding Rios. L. Garcia looks like one of the worst hitters around, but I'll never criticize it cause we got rid of Rios. (I can't believe Sox are already 10 out in the loss column. Division race for Sox is ova. I don't know how anybody else could think otherwise). Yep only 120 more games to make up 10, might as well pack it in and call it a season. The Sox have 13 games left with the Tigers and the Tigers are going to be stuck either playing a lot of double headers or losing off days because of all their rainouts. There is plenty of time to make up ground. We've also been without our #1,2 and 4 starters, starting CF and lead off hitter, starting 2B, 3B and RF for significant amounts of time. Considering that our #1 and #4 starters, CF, 2B and 3B are either back or coming back soon, the Sox are in decent shape.
  20. Because he will be able to be signed at the pro-rated minimum, he should have no trouble finding another job. Hindsight is 20/20 but I still don't fault Hahn for signing him. He is definitely a better player than he showed last year.
  21. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) The good news is that he gawn. The bad news is that it is unlikely they'll also eat Dunn's contract. Maybe Joe Madden will take him back. Fits Tampa's payroll to get him on the ultra cheap -- and he had his best year there. C U Later. What would be the point in eating Dunn's contract. He's in the last year of the deal, is our best option at DH (not to mention only LH power) and isn't holding anybody back.
  22. Another win for Buehrle. A bit of a rough start with 5 BB, but only 2 ER. Moves him to 7-1 with a 2.04 ERA.
