He's actually doing quite the opposite. So far I've read that the Sox aren't in on Wheeler and want to go short term.... and that they don't like the OF free agent options because of defense. Was YOlmer really that much of a "fan favorite"? I mean, he won a gold glove and if the "fanbase" loves him so much, maybe they are trying to figure out a way for this not to look bad to casual fans who watch for the gatorade bucket shenanigans. I dunno. *shrug*

Purely as a fan? I don't care what they pay him. Its not my money. Also as a fan... he's a whole lot better than the garbage the Sox have backfilled the rotation with for the past 5 years. The only concern is the impact it has to guys going into arb/FA like Moncada, Gio, etc in 3 or 4 years from now.
