  1. Is the deadline to accept the QO 5:00 est?
  2. Didn't Andrew Vaughn say, after being drafted, that he wouldn't object to playing OF?
  3. Hahn: Ball's in your court, Jose.
  4. I am guessing this is nothing more than posturing to get Uncle Jerry to take him seriously. I mean, remember PK spending a weekend in Anaheim to get Uncle Jerry to take him seriously, too... That deal got done.
  5. Jose probably needs to move to DH soon.
  6. on my honeymoon, we ate at a place called "Chicken in a Barrel" that was literally a dude smoking chicken in a barrel, on the side of the road. Sometimes, those are the best places. Its an entirely different story when a team tries to be a five-star franchise and leads on its fanbase. If the Sox want to do business in the FA market, they need to rethink how they manage the PR side of that. Telling the fanbase "we're going after so-and-so" is one thing, but publicly acting surprised when your horseshit offer was outbid is comical.
  7. I mean... if you consider the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc as the "fine dining" of professional baseball, the White Sox are the Chinese takeout counter that is protected with bulletproof glass. So Rick's "seat at the table" is probably one of those $4 walmart TV dinner stands. /metaphors
  8. These pipedream threads are fun, but let's be real here... this is the White Sox we're talking about, and the team ain't signing Cole or Strasburg. At least they'll have a seat at the table though.
  9. The worst that can happen is he takes the QO and turns into 2003 Paul Konerko... and ol Ricky refuses to take him out of the 3 hole.
  10. I guess the good news is that they can't QO him two years in a row.
  11. He's a grinder, so he's got that going for him.
  12. I'll hate on the cheapness as much as anyone on this board, but let's be real here. The Sox make something out of nothing on this transaction.
  13. who knows, maybe he can help Abreu with his approach... * fingers crossed *
  14. Baseball is fun, baseball games are fun and Comiskey Park is a great place to spend a summer afternoon or evening with family and friends.
  15. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/history/year_by_year_results.jsp
  16. As a Dodgers fan, I can tell you... that team should be playing in the World Series. That much is obvious. Their shortcomings were largely due to the FO not adding any bullpen help at the deadline, having 5 rookies on the playoff roster and (my armchair opinion here) the manager making some questionable bullpen decisions. However, the NL playoff bracket was just a contest to see who would lose to the Astros in the World Series. As for the content of this thread, as long as ol Ricky is managing the Sox, I fully expect the contending White Sox team(s) to bunt their way out of the playoffs.
  17. Since the Sox have only a handful of data / analytics guys, I thought I would help Rick Hahn and the Front Office team as they prepare for the upcoming free agency period of the offseason.... FIND * FROM mlb.players WHERE type == pitcher && status == freeagent && age > 34 && career.ERA > 4.50 && agent !== scott.boras
  18. Anyone who thinks that the Sox will sign a "#1" starting pitcher this off-season are delusional. The White Sox are NOT signing Gerrit Cole. The White Sox are NOT signing Steven Strasburg. Let's all collectively get this straight now so we can avoid the certain disappointment that will come with those expectations. The Sox will get some reclamation project or a low-cost one-year 34 year old who "eats innings"
  19. QFT My parents are both products of the south side. I moved to suburbs when I was 9. Being a Sox fan was as much a part of my life as eating breakfast or doing my homework. I didn't have a choice. THere were two things in my house growing up that were off-limits, and anything "Cubs" was one of them.
  20. catch up boys. I posted this joke over 90 minutes ago.
  21. I think that we as Sox fans should rid this thought now, as to avoid the certain disappointment when the Sox offer Cole 3/33 with $999,999,999 in incentives.
  22. If this is true, which it probably is - how many times have the Sox finished second since 2005? Sounds like Jerry sucks at it.
  23. As we rapidly approach the 9 year anniversary of this fabled date... let us hope this never again happens.
  24. I really hope that the Sox FO doesn't pull that "veteran giving it one last year, so lets see whats left in the tank" bullshit ever again
