  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) With Boston supposedly being interested I'd gladly take Andrew Miller back who I'm seeing may be on the block. A legit LH reliver to pair with Petricka/Putnam/Jones/Webb for the future would be real nice. Miller is a free agent after this season. Boston is in pretty bad shape. 8 games out of their division, 9 games out of the WC. They have a worse W/L than the White Sox. I doubt they are legitimately adding anything. If the Sox add a lefthanded arm for the bullpen, it would seem based on Hahn's short history, someone younger and pre-arb (like Luis Avilan, for example)
  2. The Yankees aren't out on Danks yet. When McCarthy's arm falls off in Late July (which it does every season) they'll call for Danks.
  3. Now that he signed with Kansas City, I look forward to the embarrassing moment when the White Sox are paying for him to strike out Adam Dunn.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 13m Source: No "significant talks" between #Mariners, #WhiteSox on a trade for Dayan Viciedo http://sbnation.com/e/5637244 #sadface
  5. Felix ain't foolin the Cubans today.
  6. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:09 PM) Flicking between the hurling and this, was it nearly out? Almost.
  7. If I was Danks and I didn't want to be traded, I would totally suck on purpose right now.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) But Ross Gload was one of my favorite players and Viciedo is not, so nothing in common. Boom. Yea, I had a sports crush on Ross Gload, mostly for that one game in 2004 when he hit a grand slam off of Zambrano at Wrigley that got called back, only to follow it up with a bases-clearing double. Too bad he didnt have ebough power for 1B and wasn't a good enough defender to stick in the OF.
  9. If the White Sox traded Danks today, who would take his rotation spot? Axelrod?
  10. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) When I was looking at WAR(apparently the crappy kind) today I was dumbfounded to see Jake has the 25th highest of any pitcher. Most of any reliever. SELL HIGH!!!!
  11. ya, I was gonna say... let's sign some more cubans. So far WE'VE gotten it right 2 out of 3 times. 66.666666666666666667% ain't bad for US right? WE'VE got to sign some more Cubans and spend OUR bonus money!
  12. He could also file a grievance with the PA about being benched for no daggum reason.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) The we with sports teams has always been weird for me. If you attend or attended a college, referring to their teams as we seems OK, but why are the White Sox we if you don't work for them? If you are a big fan of a band, you don't say we have a concert in Portland tonight, or our world tour has 70 dates. People would think you are missing some marbles. Living in a poorly educated, ass-backwards southern state, there aren't a lot of professional sports teams to root for. So, the inbred rednecks love to wear their State school's hoodies along with their duck dynasty hats and Wranglers. Talk about infuriating. You didnt f***ing go to college asshole, put away the college sweatshirt. I know what its like to be a college grad, and if you were one, you wouldn't support the college that calls and emails every damn day asking for donations when you have 75k in student loan debt. Conclusion: people who wear college sweatshirts didnt go to college.
  14. It even pisses me off at work when the following scenarios occur: 1: Overpaid VP in a pressed shirt arrives at a project meeting and tells us "We need to operate with a greater efficiency that best represents our customers' needs" where my typical response is "STFU and go man your spreadsheet. I'll write the code, dBag." 2: Project Manager asks "Where We Are" with a task or deliverable... Where we are? Well... you "work from home" so you are probably at the f***ing beach sipping a pina colada patronizing me from your iFruit smart phone while I'm sweating out here with my cubemate who had too much protein for lunch." It goes both ways, people.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 5m In 2007, MLB gave Alex Rodriguez permission to take testosterone. Interesting stuff from a new book excerpted in SI: http://bit.ly/1o8EJhP Reading the article, I gather that he applied for permission to use Testosterone to combat symptoms from prior steroid use? What a s*** show.
  16. Can I add Hawk trying to scale up his home run call.... You caaaaaan... put it on the booooOOOOOAAAARD..... Just say it. You can't sing. Please stop trying.
  17. This is probably just a personal thing, but it makes no sense to refer to a sports team as WE. "glad we won today." "That trade we made last week was awesome." "Wish we would steal more." You aren't on the team. You don't have a say in team transactions. You aren't coaching. Stop saying WE in reference to your favorite sports team. I'm sure I've done it, but I try to correct it when I catch myself saying it.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 01:35 AM) We're collecting upper 90's fastball guys who can't get the ball over the plate...first there was the Sisco/Aardsma/Masset trio. Now we have Henry Rodriguez, Cleto and Angel Sanchez. Hopefully they can bring some excitement to Knights' fans...who knows, maybe they can even make a run at the playoffs in the 2nd half. At least this year though, The Sox aren't collecting them in the major league bullpen.
  19. Its scary to think, as good as Abreu is right now, that he is 26 and will only get better as he sees more MLB pitching.
  20. This thread is as dead/empty as the ballpark right now....
  21. M-V-P... M-V-P... M-V-P...
  22. If you read the article, I think all the writer is really trying to get across is... he has good stuff, poor command, but has demonstrated SIGNIFICANT improvement since getting his ass handed to him in AA just 2 years ago. Think like this: If Petricka has come this far, why can't he continue to improve and be a top notch closer?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) Remember, the Astros are viewed as completely bizarre by the rest of baseball. I don't think it's normal terminology for any other organization. It wasn't the Astros using the terminology... or maybe it was their GM that used those words to describe the offers... it was the Yankees and the Royals I think.
  24. I love this voyeuristic view of the Gm dealings... "Inventory player" "Paydown" completely different terminology than that fans and writers use.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:23 PM) One wonders if Nate Jones even could have passed a physical before the season started. Do they check players' asses during physicals?
