  1. They might as well let a position player pitch against Kershaw. No Sale? No win.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:11 AM) I'd bet anything they just keep him on schedule. Monday vs Kershaw. Oh boy... fan-of-elite-pitching-baseball-boner-time
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) Did you know Tanaka or Abreu were going to be free agents in May last year? Speaking of which, can you imagine how good Tanaka would look wedged between Sale and Quintana? Talk about a core to move forward with... Man, I'm still bummed he signed with the Yankees.
  4. Did anyone notice/report/post that Myles Jaye was sent down to WS?
  5. Totally off topic, but did you guys see the new Body Count video yet? HILARIOUS....
  6. thank you, Alejandro, for leveling the pitchcountometer so things are equal moving forward.
  7. Scott Downs and Daniel Webb might combine for 100 pitched themselves, if they are left to fend for themselves for 2+ innings.
  8. Rick Hahn's northshore posse will be waiting in the manager's office with a body bag if Chris Sale throws more than 100 pitches tonight.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 22, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) Especially with only two guys on base I said it would be huge, I didn't say it was possible. Yeesh.
  10. A grand slam from Eaton here would be huge.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) With Putnam, his career record suggests you just have to ride him while he's hot in the 7th and 8th, mostly. Bulls***. The reason Putman has been successful is pitch selection, plain and simple. His best pitch is the splitter. Prior to the Sox he threw the splitter roughly 30% of the time, seldom on first pitch or in hitter's counts. Now he is throwing the splitter 55% of the time and both on first pitch and hitter's counts. Putman is successful this season because he is "playing to his strengths" as opposed to throwing meatballs 60% of the time, which he did in Cleveland, Colorado and with the Chubs.
  12. I just made the mistake of looking up Gavin Floyd's stats this season.
  13. Is Lindstrom any better than Petricka? This is likely addition by subtraction.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) Odd, when I did a couple of different searches, it didn't come up. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) Fascinating. Guys, I always get you two confused on here!!
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2014 -> 11:26 AM) How did you even FIND that? laulz At any rate.... He earned it. Been dealing at AAA. We'll see how he does in the show. As a dodgers fan, I've seen him s*** his pants far too many times to expect anything different this time around.
  16. The Abreu signing came out of left field, no?
  17. According to googlemaps, its a 2 hour flight from Charlotte to Kaufman, with flights starting at $320. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Charlotte+K...#33;2d39.051105
  18. I'm glad I bought MLB.tv so I could watch this. Back to the JavaScript I was writing.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Hahn and Ventura should be thankful there was no tear. Or Schneider/Thomas. Can you imagine if that were the case? Talk about a promising season deteriorating into ashes in the blink of an eye. This needs more superlatives tacked on the end. Seriously. This could not be a bigger "dodged bullet" for RV and the training staff.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Quit while you are ahead. Haters gonna hate.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 18, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) You just have to wonder if someone would pick him up if/when he is DFA'd. There's no harm in keeping him in Charlotte if he passes through waivers. I wonder if he has the service time to reject an outright assignment? Good idea though... can't have enough bad pitching stowed away in AAA.
  22. I know how Abreu must be feeling. My face hurts seriously all the time because it is so beautiful. There's nothing I can do about it. It hurts the more time I spend in the sun. So I try to stay indoors but its hard to do that.
