Right, but in Marty's world, you sign every single guy who might help your team, no matter what the cost, and then you just cut the ones who don't work out. It doesn't really matter if you end up paying $100M to guys who are no longer playing for your team. The ownership group is full of greedy bastards who won't bankrupt themselves just for Marty's entertainment, and also why does the team bother paying all the non-player employees anything over minimum wage? They don't do a damn thing to add to Marty's entertainment value by winning games on the field, so why should he care whether or not they can afford food and housing.

That is something that only a troll or a very selfish person would say, and I'd hate to be thought of as either one.

Still 33 players in major league camp. Still need to reduce by 8. Tekotte, Gimenez, Liddi and Johnson are 4 position players who will be cut. Semien and LGarcia probably stay because Keppinger and Beckham go to the DL. Also still need to cut 2 pitchers, but I've lost track of which ones are still left in camp. Hopefully somebody else knows. EDIT: OK flavum had it: 2 pitchers who will be cut are Purcey and Putnam

Well, the chain of command is Reinsdorf --> Williams --> Hahn, but I haven't seen any indication that either Reinsdorf or Williams would step in and overrule Hahn on the decision.

I like having the two best pitchers split up, because you guarantee that at least one of them pitches every series. I would have put Danks at 4 and Johnson at 5 though.

I guess I'm just an old geezer, but the only food items I have an interest in while at a baseball game are hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, cracker jack, and helmet sundaes. Not really interested in getting a gourmet meal at a baseball game.
